Road Survival, I Have a Hint System!

Chapter 31: Car Repair Kit

It must be said that fools are in the minority.

While some idiots kept rambling in the regional chat, the smart ones had already started snatching up spears.

The 50 hunting spears that were put up for sale were instantly sold out.

Those who were too slow slapped their thighs in frustration, sending private messages to Zhang Tuohai, begging him to sell them another spear, and even offering to pay extra.

Seeing these fat sheep coming to his door, Zhang Tuohai felt it would be wrong not to take advantage of the situation.

So, putting on a troubled expression, Zhang Tuohai said, “Alright, I’ll make an exception and sell you one more. Just don’t tell anyone else. You don’t want everyone to have weapons, do you?”

“I get it, I get it. I won’t say a word,” the person immediately replied.

Using this method, Zhang Tuohai managed to sell over 30 more hunting spears.

Some people didn’t have enough resources, so they traded interesting blueprints instead.

For example, special ops boots.

Or a motorcycle helmet.

Or tactical gloves.

All seemed useful, but not particularly necessary items.

Zhang Tuohai, operating on the principle of “the more, the better,” made all these items.

Just as he was happily sorting through his spoils, another private message came in.

Zhang Tuohai glanced at it—it was from Su Mu.

“Get me a weapon too, but not something cheap. It should at least be able to dominate those idiots.”

“Sure, but what are you going to trade? You get what you pay for,” Zhang Tuohai was curious to see what Su Mu had up her sleeve.

Su Mu didn’t hesitate and immediately sent over the details of a blueprint.

[Car Repair Kit: A one-time tool that can fully repair any car damage with a single use.]

[Crafting Cost: 10 units of metal parts, 10 metal ingots, 10 units of basic rubber, 10 units of broken glass, 10 units of wood, 10 units of basic plastic.]

Wow.

Zhang Tuohai’s eyes lit up.

This was practically a divine tool! With it, no matter how badly damaged a car was, it could be restored with a single click. That was simply game-breaking.

In a post-apocalyptic world where cars were like a second life, this thing was practically a resurrection coin.

He had to get it!

After pondering over the blueprint for a long time, Zhang Tuohai finally pulled out his crossbow.

“How about this? Effective range of 50 meters, comparable to a handgun, but much quieter. It can easily take down those with spears, and with a well-placed shot, it can even kill medium-sized animals. For large carnivores, though, you’ll need a bigger gun; even regular handguns might not do the trick.”

Zhang Tuohai carefully considered before offering the crossbow for trade.

The blueprint for the crossbow had originally come from Su Mu, so it wasn’t a secret to her.

Trading it wouldn’t reveal the fact that Zhang Tuohai also had a shotgun.

Plus, with his anti-stab vest, he could protect himself from crossbow bolts to a certain extent.

Combined with the motorcycle helmet and special ops boots, his gear could mostly block long-range crossbow attacks.

So even if Su Mu got the crossbow, Zhang Tuohai wasn’t worried about her posing a threat to him.

“Throw in two pairs of shoes,” Su Mu replied, satisfied with the crossbow.

She suspected Zhang Tuohai had even better items, but she knew when to quit while ahead.

Plus, Zhang Tuohai was also providing her food for the next few days. If she pushed him too hard, he might cut her off, leaving her with no place to cry.

“Deal. What size?”

You could specify the size when crafting clothing or shoes.

“Size 36.”

“Your feet are small. If these weren’t custom-made, you’d have a hard time finding a pair,” Zhang Tuohai muttered as he crafted two pairs of size 36 special ops boots and sent them along with the crossbow.

“Are we really going to enter that rally?” Su Qi asked as she kicked off her sandals and put on the special ops boots.

By now, she wasn’t wearing the dress she had entered the game with. Instead, she was clad in a motorcyclist’s protective suit, helmet on her head, and a baseball bat in hand, looking quite fierce.

“We have no choice. Although we’ve gathered plenty of blueprints, we still don’t have the one for an air conditioner. It looks like we’ll have to try our luck in that rally.”

Everyone was gearing up for the rally, ready to show their skills.

Meanwhile, Zhang Tuohai was busy turning bear meat into sausages.

He was certain there wouldn’t be much time for cooking during the 12-hour race, making ready-to-eat food incredibly valuable.

As for the others, they were on their own.

Maybe if he let them go hungry for a while, they’d be willing to trade more good stuff later.

Once everything was prepared, it was 6 a.m.

The sun rose from the horizon, and the scorching rays signaled the start of a new day.

Before Zhang Tuohai, the road split into two paths.

The left one was marked as a regular highway, and the right sign pointed to the rally entrance.

Zhang Tuohai turned the wheel toward the rally entrance.

As he passed through the gate, the environment changed instantly.

A wall of black clouds appeared behind him.

“System, what’s that?”

Zhang Tuohai had a bad feeling.

[Toxic gas. It will shrink over time. After entering, your car will lose power in 30 seconds, and within 1 minute, it will be completely corroded. Inhaling the gas for more than 10 seconds causes poisoning, 30 seconds leads to unconsciousness, and 1 minute results in death.]

“That’s the shrinking zone!”

Zhang Tuohai’s heart sank as he listened to the system’s explanation.

He had thought the rally was just about off-roading and dodging wild animals. Now it seemed like a battle royale was involved too.

“Can you predict where the zone will shrink next?”

[Currently unable to determine. Predictions can only be made once the zone starts moving.]

“Got it,” Zhang Tuohai nodded.

He was sure this race would be much more intense than anyone expected.

The shrinking zone, wild animals, and battles over supply drops would certainly escalate conflicts among the players.

It could even push them to kill each other.

Looks like I need to stay on guard, too.

Zhang Tuohai floored the gas pedal and drove forward.

The rally map resembled the desert area, but with more cacti and animal skeletons lining the road.

After driving about ten kilometers, Zhang Tuohai spotted what seemed like a small town in the distance.

The area was less than a hundred meters from the road, with white walls and red roofs, though it appeared to be in ruins, with crumbling walls everywhere.

“Could that be the town ruins?” Zhang Tuohai recalled his earlier explorations of village ruins and a laboratory.

“Should I go check it out?” As he hesitated, a large transport plane flew overhead, and several supply crates with parachutes descended from the sky.

The crates were all purple.

And one of them just happened to land in the ruins.
