The Survival of an Inferior

(Vol2)59. Hidden Background(3)

*Thump thump thump*

"Huff huff..." I lean against the wall and look around, I only see one door in this long corridor. Nothing on it indicated "82"

*BOOM!*

The sea of monstrosity crashes around the corner at the far end. I click my tongue and pick up my pace. "Fuck! Give me a break!"

Now running deep into the underground facility, I seem to reach another section. Both sides of the walls now have prison bars, reminding me of the cells in the first dungeon I entered.

Within the cells are bones and rotting flesh.

Jars of a mysterious liquid stack at the side. I push the Jars down on my run. The monsters consume and crush the jars like tofu; It did absolutely nothing to slow them.

I turn a corner before a sudden panel pops up.

-----------------------

Luck is in effect.

Congratulations on stumbling across a "treasure".

-----------------------

The horde of monsters crashes into the wall to stop their momentum, causing the ceiling to rumble and crack.

?

The ceiling soon caves in and collapses on the monsters. Tons of dirt from nature crush onto the beasts, forcing the ground to crumble and break. The destruction pulls me in as I fall together.

In a hurry, I wrap myself in as much demonic mana as I can.

*BAMM!!*

"Argh?! Fuck!" I groan and roll on the hard floor, grasping my leg as dust coats my body.

The aftermath of the collapse slightly clears up. I sneeze the excessive dust away and sniff.

"Ugh..." Pulling myself up and limping my way to a wall, I use it as a support as I pant.

Rubbles of concrete bashed with a mixture of dirt spreads around. A big hole was carved above us stretching high.

Splatters of blood and meat can be seen beneath the piles of rocks.

Anyways...the system said I found a treasure. What treasure?

I limp out of the dirt fog and look around to only find a big clear window to my right.

?

Within those rooms are many beds neatly placed in two rows.

Many teenagers and children alike run into sight in the room to look at the commotion. They all wear the same bland white shirt with long pants.

"W-What..." I mumble.

I can feel demonic mana from all of them!?

They glance at one another and say something.

I use the opposite wall as support and limp forward.

The people on the other side of the window bang on it for my attention. I look at them and they point in a direction further up. I follow their instructions until I reach a large door. Many children and teenagers gaze at me in hope.

...

I sigh and trudge slowly to the door, swaying my hand away. They step back as per my request. I grab the Blade of Eternity from my coat.

*PINNGGG!!*

One diagonal slash is enough to disintegrate the glass into many parts.

"W-We are free!"

"Thank you!" They say.

"Yeah...sure..." I say.

"Did you come here to save us?" one of them asks.

I shake my head. "I found all of you by chance."

A boy and a girl go up to support me.

"Do any of you know the layout of this place? I need to find room 82." I ask.

"All of us memorized the layout but the hundreds of guards usually present prevented our escape. But I've never seen room 82...I'm sorry." The boy says.

"I don't advise leaving right now. The monsters were released from the cage." I say.

Their face grows pale.

A young blonde girl with emerald eyes steps up and touches my leg. Demonic mana seeps out of her body and into my leg.

??

"What are you-"

Demonic healing?!

The young blonde girl tries to put on a smile and thank me.

Two teenagers among the crowd step forward, both with black hair but one with heterochromia of black and golden yellow while the other has pure blue eyes.

"Uhm...sir, we might know which room you are searching for." says the boy with the heterochromia. Oddly, he resembles someone I am very familiar with.

I caress my leg and ask "May I know where?"

He nods and gestures for me to follow him. Unexpectedly, he zooms off with high dexterity and others come along.

But one lighting leap is all I need to approach the front.

"What's your name?" I ask.

The heterochromia boy glances at me and stays silent for a while.

"Kin," he says.

I was right!! If so, the boy that looks similar to Kin must be Jon, Kin's brother.

Eye of God...that overpowered skill makes him one of the main SSS-rank characters in Elvis Arcane. Rena usually meets him in chapters 2 and 3, where Kin is seen leading a group.

As we descend even further, Kin explains how there might be another hidden passage at the lowest level. Sometimes, the kids noticed that some people entered the lower floors but reappeared on the upper floors a few hours later even when the kids observed every stair. At the lowest level, there is also a door that might be my goal.

The walls tremble and shake. I hope Liam can last a little longer.

We arrive at a large metallic door. An infinity symbol intersected by a sinusoidal pattern is engraved.

"Liam wasn't trying to write 82..." I mumble with my eyes wide open.

I turn back to the young and say "Thank you for your help. I will go ahead now, all of you can find your way out."

"Then...how will you escape?" the blonde young healer says.

...

"I will manage somehow," I reply and walks to the door.

The young appreciate your selflessness.
