The Otherworldly Adventures of a Super Naive Girl

Chapter 97: Going to Souya

The widow waved the butler over.

When Nava heard what the widow said she screamed, “No you can’t hurt my family! I won’t allow it!” Her eyes were filled with hate.

“That is exactly how it’s going to be! I’m not as vicious as you, so although I won’t punish them for what you did, I won’t let them take advantage of me anymore! I’ll take back what belongs to me one by one until your family has nothing left! You had nothing to start, you can go back to having nothing again!” The widow sneered. Did Nava really think she could hurt her baby without suffering any consequences?

Nava tried to struggle against the butler when he grabbed her, but she was simply too weak to fight against him. He was a strong swordsman so it was easy for him to haul her away.

It was the first time any of them had seen a person like Nava, such a preposterous maid so full of self-importance. She acted as though it was her right to receive such good care and consideration from her master, to have the impertinence to blame the master for not giving her more, to dare scheme and injure the master’s beloved. This kind of disloyal, ungrateful, vicious maid would be put in order by the administrators of the city.

The trio had thought Nava was a cute hard-working maid. Boy were they wrong. Having heard the whole story they realized there were a lot of things they didn’t know. It was the first time they witnessed such a situation. The world really was a fantastical place full of crazy people. It really did take all kinds.

The group stayed until the puppy was properly treated. The widow was of course more than happy to confirm the mission's completion. Afterwards Feng Wu and Jier retured to the Adventurers' guild to pick up their reward.

The next day Feng Wu and Jier requested another leave of absence. They planned to set out for Souya early in the morning. They had two months, but there were many other adventurers also on that same mission. What if someone else completed the mission before they did?

Unfortunately they encountered a problem at the transportation array the next day.

“You mean to tell me the three of you don’t have any money?” Jier asked Rain and company. Though he smiled, it was not a friendly smile.

“We don’t have any money. We used everything to cover our living expenses and to register at the Adventurers' guild. We don’t even have ten gold.” Rain was afraid Jier would strangle her so she hid behind Wind as she explained.

“Don’t be like this. If worse comes to worse just think of it as us borrowing from you. As soon as we get more funds, we’ll pay you back.” Wind easily chimed in trying to allay Jier's anger.

They knew Jier was the boss. If they wanted to borrow anything, they had to ask him. If they dared ask Feng Wu they were sure he would fry them with a fireball.

“Exactly! Exactly! Once we get the two hundred thousand payout we’ll each get 40,000. We’ll pay you back then for sure!” Pei Qing rushed in to add, hoping to not be turned into roast meat.

“If you want my help, you’ll have to repay twice the amount.” Jier was not the kind to eat a loss and he wasn’t going to let them take advantage of him either.

They three of them had no other alternatives so they could only nod in agreement. They stepped into the transportation array with sad expressions like they were battered young misses of an abusive relationship.

The array delivered them right to Souya’s capital. Unlike the ice country they stayed to help Pierre, Souya was a country with all four seasons, even in winter the weather was not very cold.

There were many vendors on the streets and just as many people strolling and taking in the sights.

“Let’s find a place to stay first. Then we can figure out what to do.” Pei Qing’s long face, because of the overcharge from Jier, disappeared the moment they arrived in Souya. Invigorated he looked left and right with curiosity and excitement at all the things available for sale, hoping to finding some goodies to add to his collection.

“That transportation array is so fast! I remember the first time we came here we had to take the flying beast transport. It was roomier but took nearly two weeks! It was so stuffy I thought I would die!” Rain easily began complaining. After experiencing such an easy trip on the transportation array, Rain couldn’t help but feel the flying beast experience was lacking.

Wind nodded. He was in complete agreement.

“Xiao Wu, do you want to try some Souya specialty snacks?” Jier wasn’t interested in their complaints. He took Feng Wu’s hand and led her to the food stalls on the streets.

“Yes!” Feng Wu agreed. Her eyes shined brightly at the prospect.

“We’re a team! If we eat, we eat together!” The three shouted as they ran after Jier and Feng Wu.

The city was brimming with interesting foodstuffs. The amount and variety were dazzling. It was a cosmopolitan affair with food from all over the world made by those visiting merchants who wanted to sell a taste of their native home.

The group went to the first stall and had a satisfying snack. Having to borrow money from their loan shark made them sad, but the tasty food made them smile.

“Little girl, would you like to try my special sesame seed cakes? Guaranteed delicious!”

“The recipes for my house’s sweet cakes are more than a hundred years old! Try some!”

Some vendors yelled out their greetings and sales pitches when they saw Feng Wu and her group approach. Foot traffic was good, but that didn’t mean the vendors were going to slack off. They tried to entice even more customers to try their food and drinks.

A shop selling roast duck caught Feng Wu's attention. The group of five made a beeline for the shop. They went inside and on the second floor encountered someone unexpected.

“Senior Ming Xi.” Feng Wu’s eyes lit up at the sight of Ming Xi sitting at a table drinking tea.

Jier wondered at his bad luck. Why did they have to run into Ming Xi here of all places?! What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he stay at school properly?! Jier was very prejudiced against Ming Xi. The last person he wanted to see, ended up being the first person to appear.

Nothing got pass Elena. “Is this the gutsy young sister from the rumors?” She suddenly thought about the rumors of the girl from the cafeteria, the one about whom gossip had spread like wildfire.
