The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 137: Cheap Gas Station Candy

Bane listened the entire time, and then women all stayed quiet. He was having a hard time believing this guy, but he also didn't not believe him, leaving Bane to try and process this new information.

"You are a pretty fucking weird demon, aren't you?" Bane finally asked, making Angar smirk.

"One of the weirdest, but that is what happens when you have existed for as long as I have!" He laughed, but Bane narrowed one eye, lifting the other eyebrow.

"And just how long have you existed?"

Angar shook his head and finger. "That is the wrong question for a demon. A better one is how many times have you died? Zero, to answer the question so you don't have to ask."

Bane took in a frustrated breath, shaking his head. "And what does that mean? I would prefer you get to the point already. These women have already made me wait long enough in this spot, and I am never going to make it to Onorousa within the month if I keep pissing around."

"Oh? Are you also heading there?" Angar asked, but at a growl from Bane, he put up both hands. "Demons that don't die retain some memories of their previous lives. This means I can remember a time when I was not a demon."

This made Bane's eyebrows shoot up, but he didn't speak outwardly at first.

'Onyx, is this true? Should I trust this guy?'

There was a short pause. 'You are really asking for my advice? Did the sky fall, or the moon turn blue?'

'Shut it, and answer me!'

'He is not lying, but he is also not telling the truth.'

'And? Which is which?'

Onyx sighed. 'He is telling the truth about demons that have not died. They will retain their memories until their first death, then they slowly become more demonic in personality and appearance. The thing he is lying about is being a wanderer, but you are stronger than him, so I think it is safe to make a deal with him. There is no such thing as trust among demons, and the people placed here are mostly the worst of the absolute worst. That doesn't mean all of them are like that, and some will be placed here because of their sparks defiance. Some beings are just destined to go against the grain, no matter how many times they are reborn.'

Bane tapped his lip, staring at the smiling demon. "Alright, you can come with us."

Angar nodded. "I am very glad you came to that decision!"

Bane shook his head. "Not yet. We aren't done. We have yet to make a deal for you to accompany us."

"BWAHAHA! Now that's what I like to hear!" Angar laughed boisterously, and then without warning stabbed his entire hand into the side of his head through his ear, up to his wrist.

"What in the f-"

Before Bane could finish his sentence, Angar pulled his hand out, and the side of his head healed like it was nothing. In his hand was a white crystal demon heart, and the demon offered it to Bane, whose eyes were peeled back with shock.

"What do you think? I let you hold on to my heart, and you let me travel with you?" Angar offered, but Bane stepped back and put up one hand.

"Wait. I think you should see this before you just give me your head willy nilly like this," Bane said, and then pulled out his storage cube, retrieving a red demon heart. "You see this? Another demon heart, right?"

Angar nodded with a strange look on his face that teetered between amused and confused.

Bane smiled, and then popped it in his mouth. In the next moment, Bane got the demon heart between his teeth, and then crushed it.

"So, the rumors are true. A human that can not only survive in this world, but can break the prisons that bind us here? Fucking brilliant!" Angar exclaimed and then tossed his heart to Bane, who caught it awkwardly.

"Seriously?" Bane asked as he rubbed the blood of it, and then held it up to his face. "You are really going to give this to me?"

Once it was close to Bane's face, he involuntarily closed his eyes and took in a deep breath from his nose. Instantly, Bane felt like his body had reached true nirvana. The smell that entered his nose was like nothing he had ever experienced in either of his lives, and made the strawberry flavored demon heart smell like cheap gas station candy.

It was so enticing that Bane's mouth was watering, but he managed to pull the heart away, and shove it back into the storage cube.

"You are serious?" Bane asked again, still in shock at what he just experienced.

"I am always serious!" Angar laughed, and then slapped Bane on the shoulder. "And if you can survive in this frozen hell hole, then you are worth my trust! Now, to Onorousa!"

Bane was still a bit weary, but he was tired of standing in one spot, and turned to Nia, who had been so quiet that Bane had forgotten she was even still with them.

"Which path do you think we should take? The clear one? Or ghosts and stuff?" Bane asked, and then the other two demon women crossed their arms and turned up their noses, but didn't say anything.

"Well... The clear one would be easier, and I have no idea what could be in the woods, so let's just go clear. That way we can all stay together, and not get lost," Nia suggested, and Bane shrugged.

"That is fair enough for me," Bane replied, and then pointed to the left. "This way it is."

"No!" Zerynthia snapped, and pointed at the other path. "There are no ghosts down there! The other path is longer and more treacherous! It will be even worse now that everything is frozen!"

Bane let out a groan. "Bitch, you would argue that the sky was green if one of the others said it was red. It doesn't matter what path we take, and I let Nia choose. End. Of. Discussion."
