The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 103: A Quick Snack

As the floral scent got stronger, Bane wondered just how hideous this demon was going to be. There was a chance that this guy could be like the Demon Lord Gustave, but he didn't think this was the case. The way Karen had described the demon, Bane was sure he was in for another eldritch horror show.

"We are getting close," Karen said, and her voice was filled with fear.

"Yes, the flowery scent is becoming almost unbearable," Bane nodded while screwing up his nose, but then he stopped as they reached a tunnel in the ground. "Is this the place?"

The demon woman nodded, but refused to move as Bane walked forward. She expected him to look back, but the creature just disappeared inside. Princess Misery was not used to being treated like this. While burned, she was still an exceptional looking demoness when it came to the other humanoid demons. Misery expects the creature to eat her after defeating her, or something, but instead was basically made his slave.

Misery had sense demons on their trip to this cave, but all of them stayed back. They were much stronger than her, but for some reason seemed scared of this Bane. She didn't feel that from him, but that made her even more confused since he refused to mate with her. Misery's own father had four wives, so the creature's excuse of having a wife was a weak one at best, and even now he had just ignored her and entered the cave of his own.

"Fuck him," Misery spat, and turned around, but she could feel the demon behind her. She turned to see a large 10 foot tall green skinned boil coved demon, and her eyes widened. "Shit."

Misery spun back around and tried to run, but a huge hand slammed into the ground beside her. She looked up and saw the demon flip over her and land to block her path into the tunnel.

"And where do you think you are going, Princess Misery? The Demon King knows you are still alive, and wants you back, but he doesn't care how you return, just as long as you are alive!" The demon laughed, and then it brought its face that was covered in pus filled boils close to Misery's face. "Which leg should I eat first? I am going to eat them both, and then you and I are going to have some-"

"You know, I was kind of thinking a snack before a big fight might not be so bad," Bane said from behind the demon, cutting it off.

Before the demon could react, Bane had reached between its legs, and grabbed one its wrist. Without hesitation, Bane pulled down and back, knocking the demon off balance to smash its face into the ground right in front of Misery. Puss exploded out from the demon's face, making it cry out, but its cry was silenced by Bane.

After letting go of the big gross wrist, he had jumped into the air doing a flip and landed with both feet on the demon's head, which was already smashed into the ground. Bane then proceeded to convert all the demonic energy into Earth mana, making his body incredibly heavy, forcing the demon's face and head down and under his feet. The demon's head was pushed down into the ground until its neck was broken and crushed, killing the demon instantly.

Bane spread his arms out and tipped his head back with his eyes closed. "Perfect landing!" He declared, then looked at Misery with one eye open. "How many points do you score that landing? Did I schitck it?"

The female demon fell back on her half burnt ass, staring up at Bane like she had just met the god of all demons. How could a creature be so casual? Did he not understand just how powerful a demon like that was? And he just did a trick to kill it in a few simple acrobatic movements?

Was she already dead? Was this just a fever dream before rebirth? Did this god come to fulfill every demon's last request before death?

"You okay, girl? You're looking a little pale. Maybe even a bit yellow? I am going to assume that your kind is a tan color, or pale gray. I mean, you could be green, but that would be really strange, but clearly not as green as this ugly son of a bitch! Oh yes! That nasty gem!"

Bane bent down and picked up the large green demon heart. It was the same size as the red one, but a totally different color. Bane didn't know if that meant anything, but after a good wiping, he popped it in his mouth. Instantly, Bane's face screwed up, and his eyes started to water as his mouth was hit with a level ten super sour blaster.

"Bleeegh!" He cried out, but then began furiously biting at the demon's heart to chip it into easier pieces to crush. This would be the last nasty green gem he ate, but he wasn't going to waste it.

Misery watched on with horror plastered all over her face and filling her mind. Was this creature seriously trying to eat a Demon's heart? While they were the life force of a demon, they were the most powerful catalyst in this world, and depending on their color, and size, could be nearly priceless in the eyes of higher class demons. Not only that, but the fragile crystal smelt and tasted horrible, so no demon would ever try eating it.

Yet, the look on Bane's face was not the same as when he had tried her flesh. While not pleasant, he clearly wasn't revolted by the taste, so Misery was left to wait and watch. She felt now more than ever that this creature was special, and something might have possibly guided him to help her. It was a strange thought for Princess Misery because demons only cared about themselves unless they were getting something out of it worth the effort.

"Okay, I feel sick," Bane announced after finally crushing the green jewel into a fine dust. This time he actually felt a little bit from that demon heart, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to pop another one in his mouth. Maybe he could crush it up and add it to some sugar and water? Make juice?

Bane turned to the stunned looking Princess. He had heard her name, but it wasn't much better than Karen. Still, he might have to and a few other things to his reward list if he ran into more of these green demon hearts. There was no way he could eat an entire green heart the size of Rocky's.

"So, how many colors of demon hearts are there? Are some better than others? Can you give me a description of the scale if this is true?" Bane asked, and Misery snapped out of her daze.

"What?"

"You're a Princess, aren't you? Aren't princesses supposed to be smart or something?"

"Yes, I am a Princess," Misery said, but paused before continuing. "Fine, but do you think I could eat that demon first? I would prefer to be able to look at you with both eyes."

Bane's eyes widened, and then pointed at the puss covered demon. "This one? Seriously? Are you going to eat that?"

"I am a demon. I can only live off the flesh of other demons," Misery explained, and Bane nodded, but then Misery pushed the hair on the good side of her head behind her ear. "Do you still want to watch me eat?"

It was Bane's turn to "deer in the headlights" it. He had said so before, but damn, that thing he had just killed was just nasty. Bane took in a deep breath, and then walked over to sit down on a big rock. He then gestured to her.

"Knock yourself out."

The female demon smirked, but her smile was more sinister than playful. "You really are different. Well, let's start with the eyes."

Bane's eyes widened and he watched the female demon dig her thumbs into the dead demon's eye sockets and ripped out its eyes. She popped the first one in her mouth, and Bane's mouth started to water. Though, it was because his stomach felt like it was getting ready to revolt.

Misery smiled again as she swallowed, and then she moved onto the other eye. It was the same. Bane kept his face straight, but Misery knew this was bothering him for some reason, so she was going to milk it for all it was worth.

She was right.

Bane felt sick. This was like having a front row seat to his worst nightmare. A mostly beautiful woman eating another disgusting monster like it was the greatest meal of her life. Popping the eyeballs in her mouth like clavier, biting off fingers, and then ripping out teeth with her own, and chewing on the loose skin. She didn't seem to have a problem with the puss and other gunk, only adding to his distress, but he never looked away once.

This was not normal, but seeing this kind of thing outside of this controlled environment would be traumatizing. Not that this wasn't, but Bane was trying to accept that there was a good chance that he was going to see even worse things than this in the future. He was using this situation to desensitize himself so he never hesitated. All the horror in this world would help train him to become not a hero that the world(s) wanted, but needed.

After she finished the last bite, the Princess wiped her mouth, and looked at Bane.

"Now that wasn't so bad, was it? It's all about the context. I think we have gotten off on the wrong foot, so I hope that this helps you to see us in a better light," Misery said with a smile that was completely healed.

Bane nodded, and stood up, but his face had a haunted look to it. "I will have to agree, but I think it will take more than that for me to be completely at ease. You're kind are still demons, after all, and I am a human, or something. Still, I will watch you eat everything. I need to."

Misery nodded, but was very happy with the outcome. She felt like this creature might actually have a chance of beating not only Zibblefritts, but maybe even the Demon King that had ruined her life. Misery wasn't used to good company, but even if Bane didn't care about her, he seemed to be helping her regardless. Taking in a deep breath, summoning her courage, and closing her eyes, Misery turned to face Bane.

"Thank you. I know I haven't done much, and my kind is not really friendly, but I do thank you. I also know you don't want to mate, but I would be honored if you did. Still, I will not force it," Misery said, and then walked past Bane and down into the tunnel.

Bane stared after her for a second, but then shook his head.

"Married life is so fucking cliché," He muttered to himself, and then followed the Princess.

Damn women never did this when he was single!
