The Lecherous Prince and His Playmate [BL]

Chapter 83

Youxian was sitting on the bed holding his son when Changling entered the chamber. He looked at him, surprised. He was supposed to be at the temple. What was he doing here?

Holding his son defensively, he asked, “Are you here to curse us? What do you want?”

Gazing at his husband holding the baby, he said, “I was told that he has the same birthmark.”

Youxian nodded.

He walked over to the bed and looked down at the child’s face. Staring at him with a complicated expression, he said, “I should be glad, but with the whole Yerim thing.”

“You have my condolences, your majesty.”

Looking at him, he raised a brow. Taking his son, he held him and walked around the chamber. He released a sigh, thinking, ‘I thought you were someone else’s. I was waiting to kill you, but now what shall I do? You’re my son.’

He chucked the blanket on the floor, then lifted the shirt and saw the mark—when he looked at Youxian, he was standing with a panicked expression near him. “What?”

“Why would you just do that? Don’t you believe the physician?”

“This isn’t my first child. I know what I’m doing, and the one I don’t believe is you.”

Youxian didn’t say anything. He picked up the blanket and handed it to Changling, who took it and wrapped the baby.

”Have you given him a name?”

“No, isn’t that up to the royal court?”

“You named your daughter. Name your son.”

“He is your son, too.” Youxian mumbled.

“You didn’t believe that to be true before. Why did you change your mind?”

Gazing into his eyes, Youxian said, “I always knew he was yours. You wanted me to leave, and lying to you was my way out of here.”

“So why did you kill Wulin?”

“I didn’t want you to kill him, so I did it.”

“Do you hate me that much? What happened to the love you had for me?”

“Was it ever love, or was I lying to myself after you forced me to be with you?”

“We didn’t start on good terms, but I love you. Why are you going to such lengths to leave me? Don’t I mean anything to you?”

“Then do I mean anything to you?”

“Of course you do. I can’t survive without you. I can barely breathe because of your existence.”

“Then why did you leave me?”

“What?” Changling was confused.

“You left me first, so why can’t I leave?”

“What are you talking about? I’m standing here in front of you.”

“No, the one in front of me is the future emperor of this kingdom, the one who married someone else instead of me.”

Changling felt his heart skip a beat. “Ah-Xian—”

“No! I’m tired of this. Why should I pretend that I’m happy when you know I’m not?”

“How can you not be happy? You have everything you need.”

Wiping his tears away aggressively, he glared at the man before him. “I don’t have you.”

The baby in his arms moaned.

Looking down at the infant, he sighed. Looking back at his husband, “I’m sorry for everything I did to you. I had to marry her, you know that, and if not her, it would have been her on someone else. I had to make the first step or who knows how life would have turned out? I love you Youxian, I didn’t know I would. I know nothing, only survival.”

Taking a pause, he continued, “I did all of this so that I could rule and not others over me.”

Youxian sighed. “Why?" What if you didn’t need to do all of this?”

“Then how would we have come this far? Look at me Ah-Xian, you don’t know how much I suffered when you left me. It felt like the world was crumbling down around me and finally, after years of searching, I found you with a child. MY CHILD. When I heard the news that others were having children, I could see us being happy and having a family and when I found you, you had a little us.”

Looking down at the son in his arms, he felt his tears threatening to come out. “Have you seen her? She looks just like us and this child in my arms. I wish you never told me about Wulin. Do you know how much that news broke me? And Youxia? She takes so much after me. You’ve given me what I wanted—”

“This isn’t what I wanted.”

Hearing his words, Changling felt crushed. He had a lot to deal with now, coming here. Not only did he want to tell him what their child had done, but he was hoping that he would get the comfort he always got when he was near him.

“Things will never go as you want when it comes to me. I don’t love you anymore,” he said as he took his son.

As Youxian walked back to the bed Changling stared at him, “I am trying to make this work Youxian, but you’re making this very difficult.”

“Who told you to? If I had my way, I’d go back to the day I ran from here and run further.”

Changling felt his blood boil then suddenly realised something Youxian said the day he ran away, not the day they met—’he doesn’t regret meeting me? And he was carrying our child then.’

Relief bloomed in his heart. “Name him Xianling, Prince Hwang Xianling.”

Staring at his husband, he nodded his head.

“You still didn’t tell me why you’re here. You stayed away for so long. Why are you here now when you should be with your consort?”

Thinking of this whole situation, he sighed, saying, “Youxia’s behind her death.”

“What?”

“She confessed.”

“But why? She loves Yerim.”

“According to her, she overheard the crown princess and consort talking while you were sent to the cold palace. She’s accusing my consort of planning to kill you and her. The crown princess is now a witness to Ae Cha’s crimes. All three of them are being detained.”

“I don’t believe this,” he said, baffled.

“Youxia, is she really like this?” He asked, thinking back to the tea he drank.

“No. Yerim was put in a deep sleep. She has still yet to explain to us but Yerim is okay. Her heart is still beating, just her skin is still so pale.”

Running a hand over his face, then looking at his husband and saying, “I gave birth early because she put something in the tea.”

Changling sucked in a deep breath, then nodded. “She went far and beyond to protect you.”

“What?” He nodded.

“Ae Cha brought up your name during the investigation. I guess she knew that Ae Cha was after you and kept you busy as she executed her scheme.”
