Chapter 80: What is going on?

After Amelia left the cabin, the situation turned even more awkward. The important things that Nora mentioned previously never came out. She took a few steps, and silently sat on the bed. Not even a word.

‘She is clearly displeased, and jealous at the same time…’ thought Gorn. He was sure that she had them both, but he wasn’t sure which feeling was predominant.

After some time, a knock on the wooden door could be heard.

“Come in!” said Gorn, thankful that the weird moment was interrupted.

In the next instant, a person came inside. This person was none other than Mara. “Is it alright if I sleep here tonight?” she was more timid, and apparently, knew about some manners.

Gorn looked like nothing of great importance happened. “Of course! You two can take the bed, I don’t think I’m going to sleep tonight anyway. I got too much energy.”

Nora gave him an unusual, long look. “Too much energy, alright…” Her eyes drifted towards his crouch area, and stayed there for a few moments.

“You should rest sister, you look tired,” said Mara, thinking that she was just spacing out due to tiredness, and not looking at anything in particular.

Nora cracked a small smile. “Alright…” she laid down on the bed, but her eyes remained still open.

“What do you have there?” asked Gorn, coming a few steps closer to Mara.

Mara was holding a bunch of plants in her arms. “We recently collected them. Nora wanted to do some experiments with them. Since she is too tired at the moment, it will have to wait. Is it alright if I put them here somewhere?” for some reason, she didn’t want to leave them outside.

“No problem, but put them in the corner over there.” There weren’t that many, so storing them inside was not a problem. The smell was even pleasant.

“Thank you!” Mara eagerly got rid of the bunch of plants.

“Do you know what plants are those?”

“Not really…” she was a little embarrassed.

“I read a few books on plants, so, if you want, I can tell you about them.” Not having anything important to do at that moment, Gorn offered to teach her a few things.

“Actually, I’m not that interested in plants…” Mara’s answer caught him off guard. She was blushing, but said the words anyway.

“Alright then…” Gorn felt a little odd, but had no intentions of forcing his knowledge on someone.

Nora twitched on the bed. Opening her mouth, she was about to say something, but stopped abruptly. In the end, she remained quiet.

“However, I would like something else if possible…” her voice was barely audible, and she avoided eye contact.

Gorn’s curiosity was picked. “And that is?”

Mara fretfully played with her hands. She was wearing a tank top that was way above her belly button coupled with a high waist pair of jeans. The jeans were tight, greatly accentuating her round ass, and tiny waist. As a great way to create contrast, and further accentuate certain aspects, the jeans were very loose from the knees down. Quite interesting to look at, nonetheless.

“I want to make a map of this place…” pausing for a brief instance, she added: “Your ability to fly would help me greatly in this process.”

Looking at her, nervously playing with her fingers, and not daring to make eye contact, Gorn smiled. He found her behavior very sweet. “I will help you.”

Mara smiled widely as soon as she heard his words. Lifting her gaze, she looked at him in the eyes. Gorn met her gaze. Both were smiling beautifully, while looking at each-other gleefully.

Nora coughed loudly, breaking the small moment of unexpected romance between the two. Mara quickly looked elsewhere, the earlier bout of courage disappearing. Gorn felt a little weird too, after all, the recent events were not part of his usual routine.

“The day is almost at its end, so we will go tomorrow.”

“Alright…” said Mara, still grinning.

Gorn went towards the nearby table, and sat on the chair. His intentions were to browse through the shop.
