Reincarnated As Shiba Clan’s Heir! (Bleach-Gin)

Ch93- First Day

The morning sun filtered through the wooden walls of the Shiba residence, heralding the start of a new chapter for Kazuki. He couldn't suppress the thrill that pulsed through him. Today marked his first day in the 10th Division, and he was eager to delve into whatever challenges lay ahead.

As he descended the stairs, he found Kukaku already in the kitchen, her fingers deftly navigating through the process of making breakfast. The aroma of grilled fish and steamed rice filled the air. "Morning," he greeted, walking over to give her a hug. "You're up early."

Kukaku looked up from the stove and grinned. "Of course, big day ahead, isn't it?"

The clatter of the door sliding open announced Yoruichi's entrance. She strode in, golden eyes glinting with unmistakable excitement. "Couldn't miss my man's big day, now could I?" She leaned in to kiss Kazuki, then hugged Kukaku. "So, what's for breakfast?"

"Grilled fish, miso soup, and rice. Simple yet nourishing," Kukaku announced as she set the table.

Kazuki chuckled as he took his seat at the table. "You both always know how to set the right tone for the day."

"Good food and good company—that's the way to do it," Kukaku said, dishing out servings for everyone.

"So, you're headed to 2nd Division today, huh?" Kazuki asked Yoruichi as he picked up his chopsticks.

"That's right. Grandfather's probably got a heap of challenges waiting for me," Yoruichi said with a playful edge. "It won't be long until I give him a run for his money."

Kukaku laughed. "Knowing your family, I'd say he's already preparing himself for that."

"Let's not forget, it's also your big day, Kazuki," Yoruichi added, her voice tinged with pride. "First day in the 10th, serving under Kengo. How are you feeling?"

"Eager, mostly. It's been a long journey to get here, and I can't wait to start. I want to prove myself, especially since I'm surrounded by such high-achieving individuals." His gaze met Yoruichi's and then shifted to Kukaku, appreciating their supportive smiles.

"High-achieving, huh? Look who's talking," Kukaku retorted with a wink. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you've saved the Academy already? They'll be talking about you for years."

Kazuki shrugged modestly. "Let's just say I try to do my part. Besides, I've had some pretty incredible people around me." He paused to eat a bite of fish, savoring its succulence. "Ah, this is good, Kukaku."

"Only the best for you," she replied, her eyes twinkling. "So, are you meeting up with the others today?"

"I'd love to, but I'm not sure if schedules will align. Lisa's and Isane is already lost in medical texts in the Fourth Division, and Mashiro, well, she's probably her way here."

As Kazuki predicted, the door slid open with a spirited energy and in bounded Mashiro, leaping onto his back. "Kazuki!" She nibbled on his earlobe with playful gusto. "I was waiting for you at my place."

Kazuki rolled his eyes, used to her vibrant antics. "If you don't clue me in on your plans, Mashiro, it's tough for me to follow them."

"Right. I forgot." Mashiro finally ceased her nibbling and settled down next to him, reaching for a piece of grilled fish from his plate.

With a resigned sigh, Kazuki continued eating, sharing his food without a second thought. "You could have at least brought some snacks from your place," he quipped.

"I was too excited to think about snacks! We just graduated, after all!" Mashiro responded, her eyes shimmering like stars.

Kazuki chuckled at Mashiro's enthusiasm, a welcome distraction from the day's impending challenges. "Well, graduation is a milestone, so I can't fault you for your excitement."

"See, he gets it," Mashiro said, pointing a fish-laden chopstick toward Yoruichi and Kukaku.

Yoruichi laughed. "Oh, I'm not contesting that. But I do think he has enough on his plate today, both literally and figuratively."

Mashiro snorted and continued eating, evidently pleased with the morning's atmosphere.

"So, Yoruichi," Kazuki switched gears, "any insight on what the 2nd Division is planning for you today?"

Yoruichi shrugged. "Knowing my grandfather, I wouldn't be surprised if it involves an obstacle course that tests both my tactical and combat skills. He loves his little 'initiation tests.'"

Kukaku smirked as she refilled her tea cup. "You and your family and your trials. You'd think you're the characters in some drama series."

Yoruichi chuckled. "Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

"True," Kazuki added. "From what I've heard, the 2nd Division initiation is something of a legend in the Academy. If anyone can turn it on its head, it'd be you."

"I appreciate the faith," Yoruichi said. "And speaking of legendary initiations, the 10th Division is no slouch either. Got any idea what Kengo might have planned for you?"

"Eager and a bit nervous, but nothing I can't handle," Kazuki responded to Yoruichi's question about Kengo's possible plans. "I've heard rumors that the 10th Division's initiation involves real-world applications of kido and combat techniques, so I'm looking forward to that."

"I bet you'll breeze through it," Yoruichi said, taking a sip of her tea. "Your command over kido is exceptional, even among the 10th Division's high standards."

Mashiro, now happily munching on rice, interjected. "Kazuki's amazing! Just wait until you see him in action!"

"I've no doubt," Kukaku added, "especially with the kind of talent you've displayed at the Academy and the responsibilities you'll have in the 10th Division. Plus, Grandfather would have only picked you for the division if he had faith in your abilities."

The room fell into a brief but comfortable silence as everyone focused on their breakfast, each mulling over the adventures that awaited them.

After a few moments, Yoruichi cleared her throat. "Any idea who you'll be working closely with today?"

Kazuki set down his chopsticks. "Well, Kakyo is the Lieutenant, so I assume she'll have some involvement in the initiation. And Isshin will likely play a part as well."

"Oh, Isshin's always a character," Mashiro said, giggling. "He'll keep things interesting, for sure."

Kukaku nodded, grinning at the mention of Isshin. "He's got a knack for brightening up even the toughest training sessions."
