Reborn as a Goddess with a World Creation System

Chapter 35: Five hundred Years Pass: The Battle that Shaped the Future

After that fateful day, the news of the tragedy was sent to the imperial city, and humans nicknamed the demon responsible "Capital Sin, Wrath." In present days, the city has been rebuilt, featuring a massive temple in honor of the Goddess at its center, surrounded by a powerful barrier that repels demons.

In a distant place, there was a charming elf named Thalia. Running with open arms through a vast field of flowers, her white hair was caressed by the gentle breeze. Laughing with joy, she had finally fulfilled her greatest dream after so many years: to explore the outside of the elven kingdom.

Thalia stopped, letting out a long sigh. "This is where my adventure begins," she murmured joyfully. Snapping her fingers, an interface materialized in front of her, revealing her System. [Name: Thalia]

She was delighted to use her abilities in her adventures, a result of years of intense training. Thalia continued walking, marveling at everything she saw. At night, she discovered ruins of an ancient city and, driven by curiosity, decided to explore.

In the center of the ruined city, a negative aura made her feel uneasy. The source of this energy was a massive suit of armor sitting there. Thalia's eyes gleamed before information appeared before her.

[Name: ???]

[Power Level: 2 [Intermediate]]

[Age: 48 Years]

[Race: ???]

Though the information was scarce, Thalia, relying on the castle's books, identified it as a cursed spirit. Beings who, in life, did not fulfill their purpose or refused to accept death, wandering the land, absorbing negativity and evil thoughts. After so many years, this spirit had transformed into a monster.

Using her Appraisal ability on the spirit, it sensed Thalia's presence. The massive armor began to rise, headless, making rusty sounds with each movement. Far from feeling fear, Thalia was ecstatic; it would be her first battle, and the imposing armor advanced towards her.

The gigantic armor advanced towards Thalia, swinging its massive axe with the intention of ending the elf with a single blow. A roar echoed as the colossal blade hit the ground, raising a cloud of dust. The rusty metallic sound of the armor creaked as the dust slowly dissipated, revealing a small silhouette in the center.

To the colossal curse's surprise, Thalia remained unharmed on top of the axe blade, staring at it. The giant armor, seeing Thalia standing there, pulled its axe and swung it again in her direction. Thalia, already prepared for the attack, held the blade with her fingertips.

The giant armor tried to pull the axe in the hope of tearing it away from Thalia, but all efforts were in vain. "I expected more... So weak," she murmured, boredom etched on her face. Thalia squeezed the axe blade and shattered it into several pieces.

Before the giant armor could react, Thalia appeared quickly in front of it, touching the chest of the armor. In an instant, the entire armor burst into flames, slowly melting under the intense heat caused by Thalia.

That night, Ariana was near the ruins of that city and witnessed the unfolding events. When the fire finally subsided, and the armor melted completely, Ariana noticed the young soul of a boy, something that went unnoticed by Thalia as she couldn't see spirits. The soul of the young boy gradually faded away; there was no salvation.

Ariana vividly remembered the day when this city turned into ruins. It was at the beginning of the humans' rise, five hundred years ago, when they had only a small city led by the first humans. Over time, humans, with their strong will to explore, discovered new lands and built camps that, over the years, transformed into villages and cities.

In a short time, humans dominated a vast territory. The first city became the imperial city, where, with resources collected from all other cities, it developed further, becoming a monarchy. An imposing castle in the city's center housed deliberations on all matters related to the other cities.

For a while, the empire had complete control over all cities, but the church's power was growing, gaining followers in all locations. Some crucial matters of the empire required the presence of a cardinal to keep the church informed of all events. There was no open intrigue between the empire and the church, but, like in a chess game, those who led both powers watched each other's moves carefully.

The church's power and influence grew considerably when demons began attacking cities and were repelled by some believers with sacred powers. In an attack where the demon king sent an army to attack the imperial city, a disciple of the goddess's church was sent to the battlefield along with the army of knights and mages to defend the city, surprising everyone with their abilities.

On that day, the knights' morale was low; they didn't believe in the possibility of victory. "It's our end," said one of them. "They are too powerful," affirmed another knight. A young knight, with tears in his eyes, lay on the ground. He seemed to be only seventeen years old and had enlisted so that his father wouldn't have to go to war. However, the battlefield proved much more terrifying than he had imagined, with screams, flesh being torn, and pleas for help generating panic. His body did not respond.

Looking around, he saw his companions being killed by demons, while, around, demons laughed as they massacred more humans. With tears in his eyes and bloody hands, he watched the fallen bodies and the despair about to consume him. At that moment, a colossal demon, with a distorted appearance and a massive sword, advanced towards the human army, making the entire field shake with each step. Lesser demons cleared a path for him, and his presence emanated an aura of terror.

For a moment, the demon stopped and raised his massive sword, planning to unleash a powerful attack on the battlefield. As the blade descended towards the ground, a huge golden flash crossed the sword, pushing the demon back with great impact. All the knights, even in the midst of combat, turned their gaze back to understand what had happened.

Floating in the sky was a young man of radiant beauty, with golden hair. Then, words imbued with divine power were uttered from his lips: "Sacred Skill of King Level: Judgment of the Goddess!" In the blink of an eye, hundreds of golden swords materialized in the air. With a gesture of the young man's hands, all the swords rushed towards the demons, eliminating several of them simultaneously.

The morale of all the knights skyrocketed, and the young man who had lain on the ground crying stood up. With a cry of courage, he exclaimed, "LET'S END THEM ALL!" before charging against the demons. The gigantic demon, still stunned by the surprise attack, recovered furiously and advanced towards the human army to unleash an attack.

The young man in the air threw one of his golden swords towards the colossal demon, who diverted his attention to the boy, fueled by hatred from the surprise attack he suffered. That battle lasted for days and nights; everyone was exhausted, some giving up the fight and accepting death, unable to continue.

However, in the end, humanity emerged victorious. The humans of the empire, after the battle, collected the spoils and took the armor of all the fallen heroes back to their families. For a long time, many families went to the site of the bloody battle against demons to pay homage to their loved ones.

Arriving in a carriage, two elderly people and a beautiful girl observed the field. The old man closed his eyes, a tear streaming down his face, remembering the sight of his seventeen-year-old son saying he would enlist so that he wouldn't have to, and his attempt to stop him.
