My brother is an Idol

Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Kiwook remained hidden behind the column and tried his best not to laugh out loud. He couldn’t stand how adorable Hyoyoung was! He would have loved to run to Hyoyoung and hug her tight, but he felt like it wouldn’t be right, so he continued to watch her secretly.

Hyoyoung continued to clean the basement and rant. She picked up a white teddy bear and exclaimed, “Oh, my white teddy!” She hugged it tightly and continued, “You know I love you so much, right? No matter how sad I am or how hard my life gets, I promise never to cry! I always tell you everything. You know that, right, Teddy?”

She put down her vacuum, and still holding onto the white bear, she sat down on the floor and whispered to it, “My dear Teddy, there is something I haven’t told you yet. I know I should’ve told you before, but I’ve been really busy lately. It’s not that I’m neglecting you or anything, so don’t you worry! I really hope you understand, darling. The thing is… I have a crush on someone. A guy! Can you believe it?”

Kiwook leaned forward with interest as Hyoyoung continued, “I had no idea who he was at first. I just liked him as an idol. A star! Someone I could never reach! I adored him so much as a fan! Then suddenly, he appeared right in front of my eyes. Just like that! Wow… I didn’t see that coming. I’m telling you that when I first saw him, I thought my heart was going to explode. Think about it. If you meet someone you desire desperately, how would you feel? It was so crazy, but…”

Hyoyoung sighed deeply and sat the teddy bear on a chair. She sat on another chair in front of it and continued as if she was having a conversation with it.

“I am so confused about it all. I don’t know if it’s okay to continue to like this person. Sometimes, I feel like I should stop. I should stop liking him and going out with him. Should I just like him as a fan, and nothing more? Would that be better? Safer? Just cheer for him from afar? But… I like him so much. Just looking at him makes me happy. But… The problem is… the fact that I like him has caused a lot of problems lately. Things have become awkward with my brother and Mikyung… And if people find out, the other fans, I will be the most hated girl in all of Korea… But despite all that, I still want to be with him. I mean, you only live once, right?”

Kiwook looked down in shame. Hyoyoung always looked so confident and happy that he had no idea she had so many worries about their situation and relationship.

Hyoyoung continued quietly, “When I was little… my mom used to tell me all the time that I was like a flower. I believed her, of course. I believed that I was pretty, just like a flower. So whenever the kids said that something was pretty, I would say, ‘Yeah, just like me! Because I’m like a flower!’ The kids teased me and bullied me for it, saying I was acting like a spoiled princess. So I stopped saying and thinking that I was pretty. Then recently… I again began to think that I am beautiful, and I think it is all thanks to Kiwook Oppa. It’s because he looks at me like I’m pretty. He makes me feel beautiful.”

“IT’s because you ARE beautiful.”

“AHHH!”

“You are so beautiful, Hyoyoung. You are the most beautiful person in the world.”

Kiwook couldn’t stop himself. He ran out to her from the corner and hugged Hyoyoung from behind. She shrieked in shock and tried to escape from him, but he wouldn’t let her go. He hugged her tighter and kept whispering to her that she was beautiful.

His baritone voice and his breath against her ear drove her crazy. Kiwook’s strong arms hugged her across her heart, and she could feel and hear her heartbeat going wild. When Hyoyoung finally stilled, Kiwook hugged her even tighter. He rubbed her cheek with his and said to her, “Don’t tell that bear those things! Tell me! Tell me everything! Tell me your secrets! I am so jealous of that teddy bear.”

“Oh… oppa, well… that is…”

“You are pretty, Hyoyoung.”

“…”

“You are more beautiful than any flower, and you are prettier than you were yesterday. You grow more gorgeous everyday, which means that I’m certain you will be even more beautiful tomorrow, Hyoyoung.”

“You are embarrassing me, oppa…”

“It’s because I lo…”

“STOPPP!!”

“Why? What do you think I’m going to say?”

“I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter anyway. I don’t want to hear it right now, so don’t say it. Please, oppa.”

“But…”

“STOP! By the way, how did you get in here? You know how to pick a lock?”

“No, it was open. The door was unlocked. All I had to do was just open it.”

“Oh, I thought I locked it…”

“Please don’t lock anything from me. Don’t push me away, Hyoyoung.”

“What?”

“Especially your heart…”

“Just STOP! Stop right now, oppa!”

“Why do you keep interrupting me?”

“Oppa, you are so corny today. What is going on with you?”

“Well, we are two grown adults in love, so what’s wrong with being corny? Thanks to your angry order, no one is going to come near here for a while, and I locked the door behind me anyway. And the basement is soundproof too, right? That means it’s just the two of us here and we can do and say anything we want!”

Hyoyoung looked panicked as her imagination went wild. Kiwook watched her with a naughty grin, and he started to unbutton his shirt as he slowly walked towards her. When he stood right in front of her, he continued to unbutton while caressing her head gently.

Hyoyoung murmured, “Umm, hey…”

“What is it, Hyoyoung?”

“Well, I’m just not ready for… I don’t think this is the right time for… Gosh, what am I saying? What I am trying to tell you is… that my brother is still upstairs… And something like this… should only happen when we go on a nice trip or something. I mean…”

“HAHAHAHA! You are so cute, Miss Hyoyoung. You make me laugh!”

Hyoyoung was backing away red-faced when suddenly Kiwook burst into loud laughter. He let her go and collapsed to the floor, still laughing hard. He was almost crying.

He continued, “Man, I can see that you were definitely thinking about us! Just what kind of images crossed your mind? I’m curious. I bet it’s something really good!”

“Oppa!”

“Sorry, I’ll stop now. But let’s make sure we go on a nice trip later, ok? I am so looking forward to it. You make me laugh, Hyoyoung.”

“Oh, just shut up and leave! Now! You are impossible!”

“I’m already here, so I will help you clean. The guys will be at least another hour on the dishes anyway, and this basement is huge. You look like you need help.”

“I can do it myself, oppa.”

“I don’t want to leave you alone.”

“But…”

“Fine. I’m not changing my mind about helping you clean, but I will leave the door wide open so you don’t feel ‘pressured’ to do anything, okay? That way the room will be nicely aired too. You don’t have to worry about me doing anything to you, alright, Miss Hyoyoung? Trust me.”

Before Hyoyoung could protest again, Kiwook walked to the door and opened it.

As the cool air entered the basement, Hyoyoung started to feel better.

Kiwook returned to her and asked, “Now, should we first figure out what we can throw out? Let’s get started!”
