HP: Wizardry’s a Hassle, Wand in the Right Hand, Gun in the Left

Chapter 18: The Magic Wand

Inside the Leaky Cauldron, in the fireplace.

Green flames rose, and Glenn's figure appeared in it. He swayed for a moment, and stood firm. He shook off the ashes on his body and walked out of the fireplace.

He frowned slightly. The experience of teleporting with Floo powder was extremely poor. Fortunately, his coordination was not bad.

Glenn silently observed the surroundings through his super senses.

This is a bar with a rather irregular appearance. Opposite the fireplace is a large table. There are a few wizards sitting on the side, talking and drinking.

The bald man behind the counter on the side is probably the boss. He was a little surprised to see Glenn coming out of the fireplace with his eyes closed. He was stunned for a moment and was about to ask a question.

The sound of the fireplace rang out behind him. Glenn did not hesitate. He turned around and supported Hermione who fell out of the fireplace.

""Pooh, pooh! Ugh, the slag got into my mouth, yue~" The little girl frowned.

After gently patting off the ashes on Hermione's body, the firelight flashed in the fireplace, and Snape came out.

When Old Tom saw him, he greeted him happily:"Oh, God, it's Professor Snape, a rare visitor, but school has been in session for a while now, why are you bringing the children to Diagon Alley now?"

Snape nodded slightly in response:"To buy wands."Then he walked to the back of the bar, motioning Glenn and Hermione to follow.

Old Tom, who was used to Snape's style, said nothing, shrugged his shoulders, smiled and waved goodbye to Hermione who was looking around.

The group came to the back of the Leaky Cauldron, which was a patio surrounded by walls. A trash can was placed abruptly under a wall.

Snape walked up, drew two grids up along the trash can, counted three grids inside, and pressed the corresponding brick.

The brick wall in front of them moved, pulled away and rotated, and cracked a passage.

The ancient and prosperous neighborhood slowly appeared in front of Glenn and Hermione.

No matter what time, there are always a lot of people in Diagon Alley, wizards dressed in various clothes come and go, and the voices of greetings between acquaintances come and go, which is quite lively.

The goods displayed at the door of the store are of various kinds and wonderful, including dancing toys, flying brooms, and even many kinds of pets for sale.

It was really an eye-opener for the two people who were immersed in their studies to be active in a small area of Hogwarts.

"Wow, it seems the wizarding world is more interesting than we thought, isn't it, Glenn?" Hermione nudged Glenn with her elbow, her mouth wide open.

""Come in." The three of them came to a shabby shop called"Olivander's Wand Shop". Snape stopped and stood at the door with his hands folded, motioning for the two to go in while he stood guard at the door. The shop's sign looked tattered and shaky.

Hermione pushed open the door of the shop and led Glenn in. The old man behind the counter was fiddling with something on the table. Hearing the noise, he looked up.

"Hello, we are here to buy wands for some reasons." Hermione first explained her purpose, and then added:"Although we are not yet of school age,"

"Oh, it doesn't matter, child, everyone has a wand destined to belong to him or her. It doesn't matter what age you are. Everyone's wand is unique. If it's yours, it's destined to be yours."

"As for me, the best wand maker of this generation, I am responsible for finding the most suitable wand. So, who will go first? The old man clapped his hands and stood up without asking any more questions.

Glenn gently pushed Hermione, indicating that she should choose first.

"I'll go first, sir." Hermione took a step forward obediently.

""Let me see... um... um↗↘, I sense curiosity, thirst for knowledge, extraordinary wisdom, and a high talent for magic in you... Oh, and a lofty ideal. You will be a great little wizard, I guarantee it."

He turned around and was about to take out a ruler to measure the values, and was about to ask Hermione some more questions.

At this moment, a magical wave of magic appeared in the wand shop: a soft brown halo spread out, forming a light belt, and then spun happily around Hermione, then passed through her body and gathered in a box on the shelf.

"Wow, it looks like the result is obvious."Mr. Ollivander put down the ruler in surprise, pushed the ladder, climbed up the shelf and took down the box, came to Hermione, took out his wand and looked at it carefully.

"Grapevine wood, dragon heart nerve, length 10 and 3/4 inches, moderate hardness, what a beautiful pattern, come, kid, try to wave it."After carefully examining it for a while, he handed it to Hermione.

Hermione took the wand and felt very happy. A kind of smoothness and comfort made her feel very comfortable.

With a gentle wave, a soft light appeared at the tip of the wand, beautifully and warmly filling the entire store.

"Very suitable, sir." Hermione smiled happily

"It is said that a wand made of grapevine wood can cast a wonderful magical effect the moment the right owner starts to choose the wand. I have seen this phenomenon twice in my own shop. Now you are the third one, my lovely lady. Mr. Ollivander was very satisfied.

"Now it's your turn, little boy, see if you can bring us a little surprise."He observed Glenn, but he could not see anything.

He looked at Glenn carefully, but the calm aura on the latter made Glenn reveal nothing.

"Oh, mysterious and pitiful little guy, I really can't see through you, why don't you try to sense some magic wands? Strange, this is the first time I've encountered this. Mr. Ollivander was a little distressed, he rubbed his fingers awkwardly.

Glenn stepped forward, turned on his super sense, and carefully sensed everything around him. Indeed, there was an attraction that was obviously different from other forces calling him.

Excited, leaping for joy.

He stretched out his right hand and responded to the call.

Suddenly, all the wands in the entire store vibrated, and the glass on the window shattered one after another! A white wand flew from the top of the shelf and was caught by Glenn.

The vibration subsided immediately, as if it had never happened, if there was no broken glass on the ground.

Snape outside the store was also startled, and he pushed the door open roughly, took out his wand and rushed in.

He looked at the shocked Ollivander, the calm Glenn holding the wand, and Hermione with a matter-of-fact look, and the broken glass on the ground in confusion, and put away the wand with a dark face and walked out again.

Damn little wizard.

He will pay later.

Damn little brat, I will definitely assign you more tasks when I get back.

Glenn did not wave the wand, which was a plain pale wand, and he was sure that this was the one that belonged to him alone, so he stretched out his hand and handed it to Mr. Ollivander.

The latter looked at it carefully and stroked the simple white wand.

"This wand... I have some impression of it. It has been in our family shop for a long time. Um... Yew wood, the heart nerve of the fire dragon, the length... is a little short, only seven and three-quarters inches, the texture is hard, but also very tough.

I can't imagine how these two characteristics are combined together. There is no pattern, very simple and low-key."

He looked at Glenn again and solemnly returned it to Glenn.

"The yew wand is said to be able to give the user the power of life and death, and has a very high blessing effect in duels and...releasing all evil curses. It is born for battle."

But child, you must be careful not to be overly attracted by the power of darkness and go astray. The infamous mysterious man who cannot be named also uses a yew wand."

"Of course, being chosen by this magic wand also proves that you are not a mediocre and cowardly person, but the length……"He paused,"Generally, the length of a wand is between nine and fourteen inches. There are also wands shorter than eight inches, but it is not because of the height of the wand's owner, but because of the owner's character flaws."

He looked at Glenn with a little concern.

"But since this special wand has chosen you, it can be used by you, so please cherish it."

Glenn put the wand away and waved his hand.

"I will, sir."
