Awakened Earth!!

chapter 92: leaving the Marvel universe

Once I finished refining the surplus of faith energy, Sophie continued scolding me, calling me an idiot for using such an attack. "What if you failed to wipe out the remaining forces?" she said. I just sat there, taking her words. I knew she was just worried about me, so I smiled. On the upside, I ascended, "Iam now a goddess, why has my faith energy so drastically increased? Even though was unconscious for a year, it feels like I’m getting fifty years' worth of faith energy all at once. This seems like too much, considering I was barely receiving any before."

She responded, "Well, everyone started calling you an angel after seeing your battle with the aliens."

"I'm not an angel. I'm an Aragon, a unique species in the Multiverse. Besides, I have horns. Do angels have horns? Sure, I get the gold and silver wings, but still, the halo doesn’t even make sense. I mean, I get a rainbow-like one made of flames, and I have no idea why my staff keeps giving me a halo. It probably finds it funny. I mean, it is a living thing, so that’s not out of the realm of possibility. But its ego isn't really sophisticated enough to understand that kind of joke." I paused. "So, what’s going on with that? And besides, I have two horns—one silver and one gold. They're small, but you can see them in the footage. Angels don’t have horns, so why do they keep thinking I’m an angel? I understand people calling me a mutant, but an angel? That’s a stretch, especially with my horns."

Anyway, I observed Alex was busy absorbing a cosmic storm using clairvoyance. It looks like it's going to take her a while to fully absorb it. She's slowly converting the energy into divinity and assimilating it. It'll probably take at least another year for her to absorb the entirety of the cosmic storm she's currently in.

"Did I miss anything interesting while I was off in dreamland?"

Sophie smiled at me in a certain way, and before I knew it, we began a very passionate round of lovemaking that lasted three days and three nights. Even then, I could tell Sophie was reluctantly letting me go because we had things to do, like checking up on my followers. Using clairvoyance to locate them, I created a duplication spell for the books in my little church, which meant there were now essentially infinite copies. Creating perfect copies was not difficult, used the energy of the ley lines to power them runedek enchantments and the fountain.

However, I noticed something: the number of people in my church was quite high. The sign I had put up was actually very helpful. It wasn't just a sign with written instructions; it sent a telepathic message every few minutes to anyone nearby, ensuring they got the instructions. Additionally, if someone didn’t want to play nice, the sign would teleport them outside the church.

So many people were lining up to use the fountain. They seemed to believe it was some kind of test—like only good beings could ascend to a higher realm of existence while evil ones would perish. I didn’t really care what they thought. It seems a lot of Christians were among them. Interestingly enough, it also looks like some Shield agents are here too.

That wasn’t too surprising, given that Shield had been heavily investing in creating super soldiers for a long time. The military had also tried this, though I didn’t notice any military presence at the moment. With Shield's resources, finding my church isn’t exactly difficult. It seems people have figured out that if they want to find the church, they need to be very determined. They've interpreted this as part of a divine test—that only those who try hard enough will be able to discover the church, while those unwilling to put in the effort won't find it.

Despite my sign explaining how it works, people have started thinking that being turned into a Majin is akin to becoming a mutant. Ironically, this has led to people seeing it as an act of God, which has slightly reduced discrimination. It’s still there, but the reduction might also be due to so many people seeking this "evolution" for their families. However, calling it a divine test isn’t true. It’s simply a shortcut for evolution. Earth doesn’t have enough magical energy to allow for natural evolution without assistance. The fountain injects massive amounts of magical energy into the person, but because Earth doesn’t have large reserves of this energy, the life force of those who perish is being given back to the Earth to replenish the lost energy.

Right now, the fatality rate is high, and many people are ignoring my advice to enter the fountain naked. It seems they didn’t take my “enter the fountain naked” suggestion seriously. Fortunately, the doors close automatically when one person enters and only reopen once that person either perishes or succeeds. Everything seems to be running smoothly, which is a good sign since I don’t have to intervene.

A lot of people are leaving naked because they ignored my warning that their clothes would be destroyed during the evolutionary process. Sure, your clothes probably won’t fit after you evolve, but something is still better than nothing.

However, I can sense a fanatical believer undergoing the procedure. Naturally, I decided to take a quick peek at these person mind. While I can’t read anyone’s mind, as with my thought communication abilities (which are part of my subskill 6 Cent), as a god, I can glimpse the surface thoughts of my believers. This only works on those who truly believe, and I can tell they are genuine in their faith.

When I took a peek into their minds, I found that they've been searching for the church for about two years—well, actually just six months. It seems I've become quite popular. They're not from America; they’ve traveled from a different country. It’s one of those fictional Marvel countries that exist in the Marvel universe but not on most other Earths. It’s a European country where people are highly oppressed.
