American Comics: The Mighty Superman, Starting From Gwen Spider

Chapter Eight: Are You Shy?

George Stacy, as the commissioner of the New York City Police Department, is extremely dedicated.

George always waits until all the other officers have finished work before choosing to go home.

Just as George sat down on the sofa at home without resting for a while, he heard a knock on the door.

Opening the door, George was somewhat surprised to see Peter standing at the door.

George hadn't seen Peter these past few days, and today he suddenly saw him. He keenly noticed that Peter seemed to have become much stronger.

Not only did his body become stronger, but George also noticed that Peter's whole demeanor was full of vitality.

The Peter in front of him was no longer the skinny and lifeless kid he used to be.

"Uncle George." Peter greeted proactively.

In this world, George is a strong white man with short golden hair, and his overall image is very different from the George Stacy who appeared in the Spider-Man comics.

"Hey, Peter... Have you been exercising lately?" George smiled and greeted him.

George genuinely likes Peter as a child.

George watched Gwen and Peter grow up together.

And George has a very good relationship with Ben Parker and May, so naturally he has a good impression of Peter.

"In fact, I started working out a long time ago, but I only started seeing results these past two days..."

"By the way, Uncle George, Ben and May invite you and Gwen to have dinner together. It's been a long time since we had a meal together, right?"

"Dinner?" George was taken aback, and after a moment of silence, he nodded and said, "You're making May go through the trouble again. Gwen just went to the rooftop."

"Then you go ahead, Uncle George. I'll go get Gwen."

Watching Peter's figure disappear at the entrance of the hallway, a relieved smile appeared on George's face.

As a man, George's intuition tells him that this young man, Peter Parker, whom he has watched grow up since childhood, seems to have grown up.

Thinking about Peter's family situation, where he lost his parents at a young age... George couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Peter's background is terrible, but isn't my own daughter Gwen the same?

Perhaps it is because they have so much in common that my daughter gets along so well with Peter.

George doesn't oppose Gwen and Peter getting close.

Peter's academic performance is excellent, and he has a kind heart, but he can be a bit timid in his daily life.

But now it seems different, everything seems to be heading in a positive direction.

Peter naturally knows that Gwen is not on the rooftop of the apartment building.

With the enhanced senses of Super Vision and super hearing, Peter quickly locates Gwen's position - the top of the Empire State Building.

...

Gwen is wearing the Spider battlesuit, observing the nearby streets.

"Well, yes, Spider-Woman is about to embark on her true meaning..."

Gwen's self-talk abruptly stops because her phone rings.

She lowers her head and takes out her phone from her pocket. Looking at the caller ID on the screen, without any hesitation, Gwen directly answers the call.

"Peter?"

"Hey, Gwen, Aunt May invited Uncle George and you to have dinner tonight..."

"To have dinner together?" Gwen is surprised, and quickly responds, "Oh, yes, Peter, this is indeed an unexpected surprise..."

"I heard Uncle George say that you were on the rooftop of the apartment building, but I didn't see you. Did you go out? It's dangerous outside at night, I can come pick you up." Peter looks at Gwen from a distance, a strange smile appearing on his face.

For some reason, Peter always feels a sense of satisfaction in teasing Gwen from a distance.

"Oh, no, Peter, I'm on my way home, I just went out to buy something. Wait for me, I'll be back soon!" Gwen quickly hangs up the phone.

Watching the police car in the street below drive away with its sirens blaring, Gwen kept her gaze fixed for a long time.

Standing up from the top of the building, Gwen raised her right hand, and white spider webs sprayed out from the Web Shooters on her wrist, firmly sticking to the wall in the distance.

Then Gwen took a step forward and grabbed the cobweb, swinging towards the distance.

Swinging on the cobweb, Gwen resembled a diver, her slender legs drawing a perfect arc in the sky.

Pulling hard on the spider web firmly stuck to the wall of the distant building, Gwen was quickly returning home.

Peter didn't stay on the rooftop either.

If he were to encounter Gwen wearing the Spider battlesuit later, it would surely be an awkward situation for both of them.

Therefore, Peter chose to go downstairs and return home.

George and Ben were helping Aunt May, and the two of them brought out the prepared meals one by one and placed them on the table.

Although they hadn't had a gathering for some time, every year on Peter and Gwen's birthdays, the two families would come together to celebrate the birthdays of the two children of similar age.

Therefore, Peter was no longer surprised by this harmonious scene.

Seeing Peter walking in alone, George stopped and couldn't help but ask, "Why didn't Gwen come in?"

"She went out to buy something and will be back soon."

Upon hearing this, George couldn't help but frown.

Peter also knew what George was worried about.

In this city of sin, it was extremely dangerous for a girl to go out alone at night.

Aunt May usually had Uncle Ben pick her up and drop her off for work, so one can imagine how high the level of danger was.

"I have to go find Gwen." As soon as George finished speaking, the still-open front door behind Peter was pushed open.

"Um, well, I'm sorry, I was actually going out to buy something."

"But as soon as I received Peter's call, I rushed back. Thank goodness, it seems like I didn't come too late." Gwen placed her small shoulder bag aside.

Aunt May walked out of the kitchen and smiled at Gwen, saying, "Dear, you came back just in time. Please have a seat, we haven't had a meal together for a long time."

"Oh my goodness..." Gwen stared at the table full of delicious dishes, her eyes widening involuntarily.

"Sit down and we'll talk." Peter held Gwen's arm and they both sat in the same direction.

George glanced at Gwen and said as he sat down, "In the future, try not to go out late at night, Gwen. It's dangerous outside."

Gwen understood that her father was concerned about her, so she nodded decisively, "I understand, father, but sometimes girls need certain necessities, don't they?"

"George, don't be a killjoy at a time like this. Come, Gwen, try your favorite dish."

As they enjoyed the sumptuous dinner prepared by Aunt May, the two families chatted and laughed, and soon finished their meal.

Ben Parker, Aunt May, and George Stacy were discussing their own matters.

Peter and Gwen went to the rooftop to chat.

"Peter, are you okay today? I mean... about the lightning incident."

"Lightning? Oh, that thing, I didn't really think much of it."

"Damn, I should have taught that guy a lesson back then." Gwen waved her fist, showing a protective side for Peter.

Peter felt warmth in his heart. Gwen's personality in this world was more carefree and non-violent, otherwise she wouldn't have formed a band at school and become the drummer.

Gwen seemed unapproachable to others, but in front of Peter, she often showed a very girly side.

"It's okay, Gwen... I feel bad that as a man, I always rely on you to step up."

"Wow, Peter, are you shy?" Gwen turned her head to look at Peter and blinked.
