Will I Always Be Weak?

Chapter 7. To become stronger

"Ok!" I yelled!

I need to get stronger, and just like in a video game, I need to level up. I'm pretty sure that my two souls can go hunting on their own. The description said nothing about them having to be near me.

My other soul, the one of the man I just killed, has the same stats as the cow, but he has a few different skills. I assume my souls keep their skills from life and gain a few. Both of my souls have a spiritual body and the skill soul grasp.

"So my skill gives my souls skills?"

That must be the case. This skill is awesome!! Now the big question is, will I gain experience if my souls are the ones that kill the monsters?

"You," I say as I point at the soul of the man.

"Go kill as many monsters as you can; return here in one hour," I say, not expecting him to listen, but he does. He disappeared, but from the depths of my mind, I could sense where he was. After a few minutes went by, I was starting to lose hope.

!Ding! Level Up

"It really does work!"

I jumped for joy. I can gain EXP without doing anything! So if I wanted to, I could live a lazy life, but I know that's not the most efficient way of getting stronger. I Need to practice my skills as well.

After an hour of waiting, my soul finally returned. Throughout the hour, I didn't gain a single level. I must have been super close to levelling up after killing the man.

"This isn't going to be as easy as I thought," I sighed.

I looked at the soul and asked him how many he killed. The soul stared at me with an expressionless stare and put his hand up. He counted out 5 fingers on his hand and showed it to me. He puffed his chest out and showed me a purple-toothed grin. He doesn't even have lungs I laughed.

"Is it me, or do you seem proud?" I questioned the ghost-like servant.

"Nod," the soul put his thumb up.

"Moo," the cow soul made a loud moo of approval. It was wagging its soul-like tail, bashing the man's soul in the back of the head.

"You both are silly!" I said as I laughed my heart out. They remind me of myself, at least the me when Angie was alive...

"Ok, ok, both of you stop," I said under jagged breaths. Trying my best to pull myself together. Both of them stopped their shenanigans and stood at attention. Well, the cow tried its best. But in the end, they still acted like they were trained soldiers.

"Ok, I'm going to go test out my skills so I want you two to go hunt, but try your best to stay near me, understood?"

I looked at them and they both looked back. The man saluted me and the cow let off a big

"Moooo"

As the light from the sun faded, both souls dashed away. I made way for the first presence I sensed. It was small but I thought it was going to be perfect for my first real monster. As I arrived, I saw what I was looking for, but the beast was different than expected.

"What happened here?"

The beast was a wolf-type animal. It had grey fur but was at least 2 meters in length. This thing was massive, plus it had spikes across its torso. The biggest surprise was that there was a hole through it, but it still lived. It looked at me and growled. Then the growl turned to a whimper as my blessing of despair took effect. Fear was plastered all over its face.

" Poor creature" I spoke these words, but I didn't feel any sadness. This will be a good test. The level that appeared above its head due to my inspection skill said

Level 4

"Inspect is super useful."

Okay, what skill should I use on this guy? I look at the wolf and think. I remember some of my race skills, and one came to mind.

I speak the skill's name in my mind. "Demon Eye"

As the skill activates, it's like the world becomes clear. I can still see the wolf clearly but I can also see a transparent version of the wolf. The afterimage jumps at my neck and I instantly ducked as a result. After that, I realized that the transparent wolf disappeared. The real wolf ran the same path as the transparent one and made all the same actions. I was prepared for what was going to happen next.

"Flaming Tail Whip!" I shouted

I aimed for the side of the wolf. As if it were instinctual, the wolf dodged out of the way. I was caught off guard by its speed and that it still had the will to fight, due to its stats being cut in half. I decided to see what I could do with this eye. I deactivated my fire and just watched. I saw all of the wolf's moves. It went for my legs, and I dodged it easily; next, it went for my left arm, and I weaved out of the way. It continued like this for a few minutes. Every single attack. It went for my neck, head, tail, legs, and arms; almost every single spot on my body was targeted, but it was no use.

"With this eye, I can see everything."

The wolf looked at me, panting and taking very jagged breaths. From the look in its eye, I knew I had broken its will. I stared at it with a blank expression and activated Demon Fear. The wolf froze and started trembling. I began to walk towards it and the wolf went into a futile position. It looked at me practically begging to be spared, I gave the wolf no remorse and took its head with my claws.

!Ding! Do you want to absorb the soul of the "Tainted wolf?" Yes/No

"Yes"

!Ding! +1 Strength +4 Agility

!Ding! Skill Obtained: "Speed"

As I stared at the night sky, I noticed the beautiful moon. It was so close to this world and seemed too big to comprehend. It was almost like I could reach out and grab it. As I looked into the starry night, I noticed massive birds and floating islands glide through the sky. The sky was filled with rainbows of colours, the moon was shining all so white, and craters covered its face, almost seeming large enough for each one to fit a planet. This is not Earth, but that's alright. As I admired this world and its sky, my new home. I smiled at the thought, and a few words slipped from my mouth.

" It's all so beautiful."
