Varocia : From Gamer to Mentor

Chapter 10: Teaching EXP

Olgan listened intently, analyzing her Class out of habit. "That's quite a strong Class. It's like granting another person a second chance at life. But if the skill can be inferred from the name of the Class, does that mean you would lose your Class if Princess Edith were to... uh... I think you know what I meant" He was too absorbed into his own thought that he was a bit too sensitive at the end, wanting to slap his own mouth.

Lenna nodded. "That's not entirely accurate, but you're not wrong."

There was no need to conceal this; it was essentially an open secret that individuals of high status often had either a Prince Knight or a Princess Knight as their personal bodyguard.

As an avid gamer, Olgan was curious about the nature of this 'connection' associated with the Princess Knight Class, but he restrained himself from probing further.

"So, I assume during the earlier confrontation with those 'bandits,' your connection with Princess Edith was severed?" he asked.

"That's correct." Lenna's tone shifted back to its previous coldness, though it now sounded a little gentler.

At that moment, Olgan felt something stir within him—a warmth spreading through his body.

Instinctively, he heard the gibberish Voice of the World, telling him something about his current status.

"Status," he called up the interface, glancing at his Level.

Level: 5 (8.98% EXP)

Edith, eager to find an opportunity to join the conversation, seized the moment. "It seems you've leveled up, right?"

"Yes, but how?" Olgan pondered aloud.

"Anything you do in your daily life contributes to your EXP, including teaching. You just helped me discover a new path, demonstrating that Worthless Classes may not truly be worthless. Beyond the gains from me, you have also earned recognition from a Princess Knight—someone of much higher level than yourself—so it's not surprising that you leveled up, possibly multiple times." Edith's mood brightened considerably, her voice now brimming with vitality.

Although her over-the-top asymmetrical fashion sense still trigger his artistry sense, her smile was genuine, radiating warmth.

"Princess Edith, aside from you, I have never give anyone my recognition," Lenna protested in a flat tone.

Edith responded with a playful hug that left Lenna feeling flustered, though she didn't resist.

The atmosphere brightened considerably, and Olgan wore a smile as well.

"I recommend you focus on leveling your Rage skill first. If possible, max it out before you undergo Class Ascension. There may be additional benefits for you," he advised.

"That's my plan. Our original destination was the Ascension Tower; I intended to ascend to the pre-requirement for the Magic Swordsman Class. There are many of these Towers scattered throughout the world. Their origins are unknown, but they are the only places where Ascension is possible," Edith explained.

Olgan learned more about the so-called "Ascension Tower." It was located in neutral territory, belonging to neither organization nor nation. The simple truth was that anyone attempting to occupy the land there would be besieged from all sides, their efforts lost to history without any record of their existence, leaving only their fossil of bones.

Aside from a few guards, caretakers and sentries from multiple factions assigned to watch over the place, these particular Ascension Towers had remained unoccupied for centuries.

There was a tacit agreement that fighting in this area was forbidden; any assailants would face the death penalty if caught, bringing disgrace to their own faction.

Even a King would hesitate to cause trouble here, as would anyone seeking to assassinate him. With so many unknown Classes in the world, what if someone sent a investigative-oriented Class to monitor the location? Even the most secretive assassin would be rendered naked figuratively and literally, and those behind them would face severe consequences.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Ascension Towers were the safest places in Valocia, albeit ones that no one dared to inhabit.

As he analyzed the information about Ascension Tower, his thoughts drifted back to the Class Reset Scroll.

The [Rage] skill's warning was clear: using the Class Reset Scroll would be futile since the loss of sanity stemmed from the skill itself. It was a misconception share by all of them, especially among Lenna and Edith, who both always believed that those who succumbed to rage instantly advanced into the infamous Worthless Classes.

Perhaps out of concern for his feelings, they had refrained from mentioning the skill's warning. Lenna had simply returned the scroll and Dream Dusts back to Edith, brushing aside the skill's warning as if it were irrelevant.

A warmth spread through his heart, mingling with a sense of embarrassment and guilt. If the previous plan failed, he would become the one responsible for Edith losing her sanity forever. Although Edith did agree to it, the weight of such a consequence would still be unbearable for him.

Olgan resolved to be more careful from now on, swearing to himself that he would be more through in a similar situation.
