Appearance

Raphael is slightly taller than average, and has a fit physical complexion that betrays his age. His hair is a blend of black and gray, usually slicked back. His meticulously maintained beard, and deep gray eyes, help pronounce his air of sophisticated gentleman. His body has a few scars—a product of his rowdy past—but he hides them extremely well.

As for his clothing, he prefers elegant and proper attire. Most of the time he wears a sleek black chest, atop a buttoned white shirt. Sometimes, he puts on a red necktie that helps complement his image. To match, he usually sports black pants that end up in a pair of brown loafers, the kind of shoe he likes the most nowadays.

Both his choice of clothes and well-kept appearance make him exude a ‘suave’ and polished vibe.

Personality

Raphael is a kind and respectful individual. His calm and gentle demeanor earned many of his customers trust, who share with him deep secrets and consult him for advice—both things he handles discreetly, and masterfully.

He used to be colder and had trouble bottling up his anger, but has changed a lot since meeting Lilithra, driven by a feeling of guilt that spurred his determination to improve his attitude. He also behaves like a doting parent, taking the role of an uncle.

Nowadays he enjoys his life to the fullest, managing The Chalice with unmatched skill, looking over Lilithra and her friend, and coming up with new dishes or beverages. The Chalice is not only his home, but what gives him a new sense of purpose, as many people from across the land, and from many different wealth spheres, come to New Lumingard especifically to taste his delicacies.

Though he has left his old life behind, a shadow of his former self slumbers within him, ready to wreak havoc the moment someone oversteps the line. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Flaming Fists were spared from annihilation thanks to his friend Ron’s advice.

Relationships so far

Lilithra: Her adopted niece. He cherishes her dearly, and thinks of her as his real family. At first, it was because of guilt, but now it’s a genuine feeling. He changed a lot to protect her and her everyday life, and won’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to keep her happy.

Selly: Lilithra’s best friend, and the kind of person he can rely on to keep an eye on her. He sees him as another nephew, and dotes on him as much as he dotes on Lilithra.

Ascalon: They met recently, but he’s fond of him due to his demeanor and chivalry. He trusts him as much as Lilithra and Selorien, and though reluctant at first, hopes he can stay at The Chalice as part of the family.

Ron: One of his old friends, and one of the select few that know of his past. He doesn’t see Ron as much, since he’s always busy, but appreciates when he does drop by.

Marygold: The lady in charge of the most renowned brothel in New Lumingard, and one of his closest friends. She also knows about his past, and was deeply involved with his old “job”.

Lyra: Doesn’t know much about her, but has a feeling that she’ll visit The Chalice more often from now on.
