The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 146: Shadows II

The elder from the Thapa clan began to pressure Punya. Being a veteran of the battlefield every one of the six elders was proficient in battle flow. Their every sword slash was lethal and they weren’t just overconfident when they thought it would take only a few minutes to kill Punya if there were no one to interfere.

Even if Punya were a battle cultivator, without better cultivation and martial techniques, he wouldn’t be held out for too long even if they didn’t use their trump cards. They circulated their cultivation technique and used the black swan returns technique. The sword slash made from the qi had metal attributes with a hint of earth attribute which meant the slash contained both the elements of sharpness and heaviness.

The heaviness part would create more pressure upon impact and there was no need to explain the sharpness part. As the sword slashes in the shape of a crescent moon rushed towards Punya, he used his cultivation technique and the sword art in conjunction with the spirit halberd technique. Radha had integrated the uniqueness of the spirit halberd techniques into their clan’s sword art. This was the terrifying aspect of battle cultivators.

If they learned various arts, after mastering them to a certain extent, they could integrate certain moves and improve the existing ones. Although the new move wouldn’t be completely different as creating an entirely new technique would require decades, the existing technique would contain some unique properties of another technique. So in the hands of battle cultivators, the normal technique would turn into a lethal one.

The first move of the spirit halberd technique contained six variations and the second one contained twelve. It was a derived copy of the Heavenly halberd technique. The most elusive thing about this attack was that there was no telling when the attack would come from because with all the variation, any attacks could become lethal and the user of this technique could interchange between the moves freely not only in style but also in power otherwise it wouldn’t count as a spirit grade technique derived from heaven grade technique. Its grade was not low among the spirit grade martial arts.

The first move would slash at some unexpected angles and the second was an all-round defensive and offensive move. Among the six variations of the first move of the spirit halberd technique, Punya could easily incorporate four moves on the sword technique, the remaining two were somewhat difficult for him but that was enough for this battle. As for the second move, he could only block the attacks not use the counterattack.

The sword slashes sent by the six elders reached Punya at the same time and the six elders also began to close in. He slashed his sword in a random manner and in an instant, the slashes were broken into qi and disappeared. The elders had reached Punya just as he had slashed the sword slashes. When the first elder reached near him, he slashed from the left side. Punya had just finished breaking their sword slashes but he could easily perceive the elder attacking him. He just used his sword to block the left side.

The attack from the elder was heavy and it put a little pressure on him but it was nothing serious for him. Since he had reached the ninth stage of the foundation building realm and had recovered by almost half, he was confident in maintaining the stalemate till dawn. If he wasn’t injured then along with the spirit grade martial technique incorporated into his sword technique, he would be able to kill all six of them.

But they hadn’t taken into account that he had recovered by almost half and his sword move contained more than what their clan had. And although he wasn’t a battle maniac like Radha, it didn’t mean that he hadn’t had a fair share of his battle. Because of his position as a clan leader, he had to reign it in. But here he could go all out. Most of the battle cultivators were fond of battles. It wasn’t because they had good battle sense but because they could improve more from battle than by being in closed-door cultivation.

With a clang, the elder was pushed back. He was in disbelief because the reaction of Punya was greater than he had expected. He had underestimated a battle cultivator because he was from a small clan. This time the attack from Punya was just to block the elder. He was just getting warmed up. Just as he repelled the elder, another one came at him from the right. His right hand holding the sword moved on his own and blocked that sword. He didn’t even have to look at the sword, he could feel where it would land.

Then with a kick, he pushed that elder back ten meters because he knew if he kept getting entangled with them, then it would be hard to maintain the stalemate. Just as he sent the elder flying, another attack came at him from the back. This time he evaded the attack because he felt a sword coming at him from the front. He knew that this sword was the real move because he felt the pressure emitting from it. He hurriedly channeled the qi into his sword and blocked the slash. The heaviness and the impact pushed him back three meters.

But there was already another elder near him who slashed at him. He didn’t even have time to feel the heaviness he felt in his heart by the sword move. He hurriedly slashed with his sword to block the elder. There was still an elder left to attack him but the six elders had regrouped once more a few meters away from him. The six elders had performed flawlessly this time. Their attack had connected and they almost succeeded in landing a hit on Punya.

Although the elders had not ganged upon each other, due to them cultivating the same cultivation and martial technique as well as battling for decades, they had reached a level of understanding of each other’s move. There was not any other technique involved, the flawless execution of skills was pure experience and battle sense. If it was any other cultivator in the same realm, they would have been gravely injured. It was only due to him being a battle cultivator that he could escape the quagmire created by the six elders.

Although the six elders were only testing him and weren’t even getting serious, he knew this battle would be hard if he didn’t use the trump card. The elders also looked at each other and a look of slight astonishment was seen on their faces. They knew they had underestimated Punya. But they also understood that avoiding their attack was easy for him otherwise if he got injured by such simple moves then the reputation of battle cultivators would be on the line.
