Chapter 57: The fate of the King.

POV: 3rd -Belief -some time earlier

If one had asked Belief what she thought of prophecies, she would've laughed at them and told them that there were no such things as a true prophecy.

But, now, where all of the Gods were gathered in an immense room; Belief couldn't help but feel a bit shaken.

They had all witnessed the telling of a prophecy. Nobody could've missed it, the damn thing had resounded all around the world. Now, we're forced to listen to it for a second time to analyze its meaning.

The room fell silent, and an illusion of three old ladies appeared in the room. It was only a few short moments later that they began speaking.

"Of the greatest mountains, to the smallest forest..."

"Right," began the God -well, some would say Goddess- of wisdom, "We can assume that this simply means the whole world. Makes things harder, but we should be able to deal with that."

"Those of space shall drop their crown..."

The King, Terse, looked quite enraged at that part. But before anyone could shout, Wisdom continued her work, "It sounds fairly straightforward here, the followers of Terse will fall in some way. It might just mean that another God gets worshipped more than Terse."

"Four shall join together to take the crown..."

Wisdom didn't need to say anything, the meaning being quite obvious.

"The first of false form and control, The second of slavery to control, The third of space, The fourth of leader..."

An almost heavy silence fell at that part, and the voice of the God of slavery made itself clear. "Well..." he began in a deep voice, "I can tell that the first two are a Master and its slave. The other two are just too wide-ranged for it to be of any use, anyone can be a leader if they want to."

Nods spread around the room.

"Two of the group, sent away from Lor's domain..."

Terse's voice resounded outwards, heavy with rage and paranoia. "This... This 'Lor' is the one responsible for this, right?"

Wisdom nodded hesitantly, not wanting to induce the rage of her King. "I assume so... it's the only name we have really. We can't be too sure though, it might be referencing someone or something else."

A slight pause made its way into the room, it felt almost suffocating.

"The rest lacking the knowledge of true space..."

"This seems to indicate that this 'Lor' person is, in some way, a being who can control space in some way. And so, two of them know of it and how to prepare oneself against it, the rest not so much."

Belief couldn't help but glance slightly at Terse.

"Time is all to rely on, Time is in change..."

Now that got a reaction out of Terse. "Time? Time! Is Certe the cause of this? I knew it, I should've put her in the cell!"

Wisdom, her face pale with fear, gently answered Terse. "W-We might be making an assumption here. It might just be about how much time we have before the prophecy completes."

This had visibly not calmed Terse in any way, but he still stopped his shouts.

"To escape from the shackles of us three, the first will need to find a truer form..."

The God of slavery looked quite intrigued. But Belief herself didn't see anything interesting in that part.

"Beware those of the Divine without compassion."

"This looks like a way to force us into the prophecy, compassion isn't something we really have lots of." Muttered Wisdom in obvious uncertainty.

"Beware those who fight against the system's creator; Beware those who fight the newest God."

The final line of the prophecy raised quite a lot of eyebrows. When a God comes to life, their presence is felt by pretty much everyone else. For a new god to have been born and for them to not have noticed it... that just isn't possible.

"Looks like a Mortal is making a large claim here. I mean, seriously, do they think this isn't going to bring all of us on them? That Lor guy certainly seems foolish." said the God of war, his red eyes shining in the low light of the room.

Belief heard War's claim and thought of them as incredibly stupid. Belief knew that she was probably the only one in the room who truly knew what this right here meant. By claiming themselves as a God to the entire world, some people will believe that. And with it, power will just flood right into this 'Lor'.

After only some short seconds, the room descended into chaos at the wild claim of the prophecy.

And, if Belief just so happened to carefully whisper in the ears of a few other Minor-Gods on her way out... well, nobody would ever believe that to have happened.

Just wanted to bring out the God's reaction to the prophecy, I hope you enjoyed reading about it!
