Chapter 54: Lethe’s Paradox

POV: Lethe

I looked around my 'world', there was only my castle and nothing else. The only thing I had was my castle and the emptiness. This was truly... boring.

Building my castle was fun, sure, but it wasn't all that fun to do once you've done it for months on end. I just built and built and built... I needed something new!

And so, I thought back to my conversations with Lor; He had talked about so many things from his world. From weird objects called 'Televisions' to horseless carriages, it truly was fascinating. The most interesting topic I had ever heard from him though, was these things called "Paradox's". From what I can understand from them, is that it all has to do with time. Not any kind of magic or God, just the concept of time.

Because a Paradox was apparently never supposed to happen. At least, in Lor's world. I knew that the world I was in, the world I was living in, had Magic. Lor's old world didn't.

I knew that I shouldn't mess with time. I knew that I was probably an idiot for even considering the idea I currently had.

I wanted to create a paradox.

And, it turns out, it was possible that Lor already had access to time magic. But maybe he just hadn't realized it yet. It was something I had dismissed at first when I had seen it. The fact that space Mana could invert energy. And, from what I had heard from him, time was apparently just energy. Lor had told me of a theory from his world, a theory that said that time was an illusion and that time was really just energy moving from 'Point A' to 'Point B'.

And really, I was certain it was a whole load of crap. I mean, maybe that was how time worked back in his world... but this wasn't his world, this world has Gods.

But I tried anyway; Because I was bored.

I took Space Mana, did some of the stuff that Lor had taught me, and put it onto a pedestal. Nothing happened.

I spent a bit of time messing around, throwing stuff into the space Mana and having it go back out on its own. I then had an idea; What if I made it weirder? At the moment, energy is reversed because of two points of space Mana being switched with one another; What if I switched the switched space Mana with other bits of space Mana?

It turns out that the universe doesn't like it. I don't really know what happened, but as soon as I did the switch, a hole ripped itself out of... somewhere and just got rid of everything around it before closing. At first, everything in the area looked normal... until I tried to throw another brick in the area. The brick just stopped. I do not mean 'stopped' as in 'it stopped moving', no, I meant it as 'it stopped being anything.'

...I stopped trying to mess around with time after that.

POV: 3rd?

Vernon leads a normal life, has a normal family, a normal house, a normal job, and a normal everything. Well, normal apart from that nephew that had appeared on his doorstep at one point. That nephew wasn't normal. Impossible things happened around it regularly and that needed to stop.

But every time Vernon tries to do anything to his nephew that could have been considered 'bad', a brick just appears out of nowhere and knocks him out. Vernon tried everything to make that brick stop appearing, but he didn't succeed in any fashion.

Hopefully, 1991 will be a better year. Thought Vernon.

I first started making this chapter with the intention of Lethe actually acceding time stuff... but the chapter wrote itself and I can't go back to change it.
