Space Core

Chapter 30: Stats.

I was finally ready to tackle the most important part of the system in terms of capabilities, and the stats. They are quite important in making everyone dependent on the system, as they wouldn't be specific to any jobs or unique abilities that people had; But it was instead something that everybody would have, and so society would adapt to use those stats quickly and cleanly.

As an example, a farmer who works in the field might take more points in strength to help him work on more fields than he could normally, or maybe a politician using charisma to help better his odds; In short, everything would start to require those stats. And if nobody could live without them, then the system wouldn't be destroyed, which would mean that mind control runes to stop anyone from killing me would be left in there by the people.

Now came to the hard part, making them. I already knew what I wanted to make, but I didn't know just how to make them work.

{Vitality}

{Defense}

{Strength}

{Dexterity}

{Perception}

{Charisma}

Those were the ones I wanted to make, I already had some ideas for {Vitality}, {Defense}, and {Strength}. For {Vitality} it was really easy, all I had to do was slap on a few healing runes that I could change the power of and made it work with hopes and dreams holding the whole thing together.

{Defense} though, was a bit harder to figure out; I had to somehow make the entire body more resistant to all forms of attack. I considered using some of my 'space Mana' before dismissing it almost immediately; The thing was already halfway alive, no need to actually put it in something living.

In the end, I found a rather good method for it; I simply reinforced the body with my space affinity as I did with a lot of other stuff and then made it so that whatever magic touched the body would have part of its Mana drained directly to me depending on how high the {Defense} stat was.

{Strength} was quite a bit harder to do than I expected though, as I couldn't just increase the 'clients' muscle mass to make them stronger; The whole thing would result in people that had muscles powerful enough that they would crush their own bones down to dust. What I ended up with was much better than that; Instead of making the bodies stronger, I just made everything they put force on lighter, though I did have difficulty with making the legs stronger before deciding to just make the body itself light when using the legs to hold themselves up.

But now I was onto the difficult ones; Because, honestly, how was I supposed to make {Dexterity} work? I spent about an entire day on it before asking Lethe for help with it, her response made me rethink how I was the one making it instead of Lethe. She had said simply, 'Make the person lighter and use your space affinity to shorten the distance they need to move to reach their destinations.'

Implementing that took almost no time at all.

Then came {Perception}, which made me a bit confused; How was I supposed to make people perceive more than they already did? Turns out a mind control rune combined with a sensing rune made it work perfectly. Don't understand how I made it work, and I don't want to know.

Now, onto the final stat, {Charisma}; Which was, all things considered, really fucking easy. All I had to do was slap in a mind control rune that affected everyone in an area around the 'client' to make them more likely to believe and agree with what the 'client' was saying.

I threw it all together and shipped it off to Stan, who did a wonderful job of telling just how much {Perception} could break you if you weren't prepared for the new influx of information. Oh well, he'll walk it off.
