Space Core

Chapter 1: Rebirth is surprisingly nice.

It was... peaceful,  with no sound, no light, and no touch, it was almost as if I'd fallen asleep.

But then, while floating in this heaven of calm, a dot of light appeared in the distance, and then another, and then thousands more, all appearing one after the other. This spectacle of light was incredible, no two dots were the same, whether it was the color or shape, it always felt unique. Colors I had never seen before formed incredible rainbows onto the black vastness of the void I was in.

For a moment, I considered looking back at how I died and how well I had lived, but I decided that it would be boring, I mean, who would recount the story of how they died? Pretty sure it wasn't a happy one no matter who you asked, well, if you could ask that is.

How long I spent watching the colorful stars, that I don't know, but what I do know is when I found out that I could move myself through the strange void, it was as simple as willing myself to be someplace else.

While the power of movement was greatly appreciated, there wasn't anything for me to do apart from getting closer to those stars, and get closer I did. Though I never got close enough to touch them, it was fascinating to get to see the stars up close. They were always changing, always growing and shrinking, changing shape from a cube to a sphere to a rectangle and to whatever else that looked like it had more sides then sides had sides.

I continued trying different things after that, most of what I tried didn't work, but the few things that did? They were simply incredible, one of those was trying to make something, anything. It had taken me an absurd amount of time(does time even flow there?) but I had managed it, and while what I created wasn't really tangible, it was something. What I had made was a small table, and even though that would usually be perfectly normal, the table that I had created... it wasn't made from anything, more like there just was an area that was solid and it happened to be in the form of a table.

Once I learned how to do it, it wasn't that hard, I made myself an entire house in this void no matter how invisible it was! I went on to continue with it, creating countless structures in the void, but whenever I left them alone for long enough, they vanished all the same as a sandcastle under the unrelenting waves of the ocean.

At one point, I felt myself done with the void. It wasn't that I didn't like it, it had become a sort of home for me, but there just wasn't enough to do.

That was how I found myself looking at a very peculiar star, it shifted constantly and always seemed to go back to being a sphere for some reason. I was nervous to say the least, what I was about to do could very well kill me and leave nothing of me behind.

Slowly, I moved forward, the light becoming more and more blinding by the second. It was when I touched it that I found myself as confused as a child wondering why the moon was following them.

It was incredible to 'see' that small window of information in my sight, something i ad thought to only be in stories!

"Wait... dungeon core? Those stories are real? Never thought that they would be..."

[DUNGEON CORE CHOSEN.]

Mentally facepalming, I simply sighed and continued.

[PREPARE YOURSELF FOR YOUR REINCARNATION.]

When a system that you only read of in stories asks you to prepare yourself, you should prepare yourself. I know that because I didn't prepare myself. It was a horrible feeling that gripped onto your very being, latching onto your soul and dragging it downward.

One last thought passed my mind before I fell unconscious, I wonder if they have chocolate or candy in this universe...
