Soulbound

Chapter 8

"So let me get this straight. Before you died, you all were members of Slane Theocracy and came to investigate what happened to Nigun along with Sunlight scripture?"

"Yes!"

The four ghosts kneeling in front of me nodded. I just facepalmed at this bullshit story.

They were meant just to come to see what was up, infiltrate and learn what happened, but the dumbass brute named Kaldor blew it off. They were brainwashed their whole life that their faith was the only one that was real, and the fact that they had never met any shinigami since they appeared just a few days ago made it easier to do. So imagine they are suddenly showing up in front of them. The rest had some brains and decided not to do anything because shinigami are considered neutral to mortal squabbles and care for the souls. So, there is no actual conflict.

But meanwhile, the fucking idiot rotten gears for brain decided to attack because 'my faith is the only correct one! The rest need to be removed!'. A classic evil preacher before burning witches on a stake and drinking tea right after.

"Leave. Find something to do or whatever."

With those words, they left quickly.

Man, I've got a lot of souls, to be frank. There were so many that I thought my wielder had just killed a dragon. Imagine my disappointment when I saw just some randoms who didn't get 'deleted' while appearing, which means that they are the first important people killed.

Also, how can I speak with them? They are not 'blank' souls, so they know the language they used while alive.

They also seem able to 'stand' on nothing instead of levitating like all of the rest, including me.

Holy shit! That's a lot.

If a few members of the less important scripture give this many souls, then what about the black one, or better yet, what about the dragon?

I looked away from the status and noticed hundreds of souls. This time, thanks to the new residents, a mixture of elves and human spirits appeared.

What worries me is the fact that there is nothing for them to do here so they are just lazying around. If it was me, I would most likely get annoyed and blame the big guy here, aka. Me. Thankfully, the only ones that could potentially rebel are the new scripture members. Everyone else is 'blank', so their loyalty is locked and cannot change. Awfully convenient.

The only good thing is that the realm got bigger and more vast noticeably. The more souls there are here, the bigger it gets to contain the increase, but it's still empty with nothing here.

The new spirits joined the various groups around and started talking in that weird, incomprehensible language for me. At first, I tried to learn it from them, but my tries were very tragic. It was basically impossible to learn it, so in the end I gave up. Maybe that language is more based on instinct rather than knowledge like you are born a spirit, and you instantly know it.

Now, since I got a lot stronger with the sudden influx of souls, I decided to try to connect to my wielder. I mentally grabbed the connection, and this time, it was way easier. The 'tunnel' got broader and more solid while I didn't get mentally tired and stopped that much. It was still there, but without a doubt, I could reach way more than before. Even with that, it was still a failure. I almost reached the end, and it turned out that the last action was the hardest. Grabbing the end is one thing, but keeping a hold is many times more 'tiring' than getting to it. I think that once I finish the first class, I should be able to take hold of it for a little while.

Then, as if to not let me relax, more stuff keeps happening.

[+20 souls]

[+15 souls]

...

[+12 souls]

What the fuck is she doing. Woman, we are already overpopulated, and yet you are adding more? What am I to you, a refugee camp?

Once all got calm again, more spirits appeared, and the amount made me want to shout at this. I am overwhelmed by the number of people who are basically worshipping me here. Although it feels nice and all, it still makes me tense, which only gets worse the more there are. There is a difference between a few and literally hundreds of them. The good thing is that they show up, bow down to me, stay like that for a few tense seconds and then fuck off to do their own thing.

Let's see if I completed the class.

Not yet, it seems.

I started to test things out again to see what changed other than my physical prowess and obviously enhanced perception compared to before. Manipulating the energy inside my body is working the same way it did before. No increase in the amount or control. It seems it's reliant on intelligence or wisdom rather than overall increase. Maybe it is something like mana for spells but utilised by ghosts or some shit.

I noticed a group of female ghosts gathered in a cirlce who heep glancing at me from time ti time, when they see mee looking back they quickly look back. Using the experience from my previous reality, I decided that it was better to not bother unless I wanted even more problems to arrive, so I just started acting as if I hadn't noticed it and looked at some other groups gathered somewhere.

Wait... are those guys from scripture sparing with some other ghosts? Of course, they have no swords or weapons, so it's basically a brawl, but still. Are they trying to teach them their techniques? Even if they are weak and lost all their strength they should still have knowledge about everything the same as before dying. What is the most eye-catching is the fact that those randoms are also standing. Maybe I should go to them to teach me that since I don't have anything else to do.

So I did just that. It appears that the ability to stand here is super simple. You just need to take that little amount of energy and spread it evenly into a very thin layer on your feet, and it will act as a base for you to stand on.

After that even if I couldn't understand them I know they decided to group up do it into all versus me alone. Not that I mind since I am stronger than them.

The spar was nice, and it made me realise how broken we would be if given actual equipment. No need to eat, sleep, drink while not getting tired. The progress with the ammount of training we could get is monstrous.

It also made me notice how much better I got after levelling up so many times. I was fast as fuck and could punch them into flying for several meters, but the best part is that everything seemed to be in slow motion when I went full speed. Even if the class is not meant to be agility-focused, it's still amazing.
