Jackalope

Soul Type - Composite

Intelligence - Animal

Strength - Moderate sized dog

Magic - None

Rarity - Ubiquitous

Jackalopes are large rabbits with deer antlers. In general they're a little shorter than two feet from nose to tail, with antlers adding a foot or more. One of the faster monsters, Jackalopes can be quite aggressive, but often retreat when threatened in return. While a full speed charge can kill an unarmored unmerged human, most protections can block their attacks. Meanwhile Jackalopes are no tougher than a rabbit, so most attacks will severely wound or kill them.

Jackalopes are violent like most monsters, but don't really look for trouble outside of their immediate locale. Between that and how common they are, jackalopes are more of a farm animal than a monster. Their meat is very tasty, comparable to a well fed rabbit, and their fur and pelts have many uses. Many delvers spend most of their lives just hunting jackalopes.

Jackalope has become the most common meat available for people who live near labyrinths. There's still arguments about whether it replaced chicken or beef as the primary protein source among scholars.

Merge

Common Name : Bunnyperson

Benefits : Better ears. Stronger teeth.

Weaknesses : Gnawing habit.

A very popular merge, bunnypeople are near universal. While they have no real strengths other than strong teeth and a slight hearing increase for their ears, they also don't have any weaknesses. They need to chew on things to handle their tooth growth, but it's better than dealing with cavities in most people's minds.

There are some rumors that a jackalope merge improves skin or makes it harder to get fat. The reality is that, because the merge doesn't affect the person's physical appearance other than adding the bunny ears, the generic merge alterations are more pronounced. It's long been known that merges allow people to alter their bodies depending on their magical potential and personal desires. (See how merges can be used to correct someone's gender.) It's just that a transformed bunny girl will notice their skin has cleared up, while a newly merged elf is probably focused on how much shorter they are.

There's a lot of rumors about bunny merges increasing sex drive. This is purely salacious gossip. Rabbits are no worse than humans in that regard.
