Chapter 84: Next Step: Promotion

Chapter 84: Next Step: Promotion

Around midday.

The rest area in the lumberyard camp was bustling with activity.

A large adventurer’s hall had just opened for business.

Adventurers came and went, resting and talking non-stop.

"Have you all heard? There are more troll camps to the east, but it's a bit far…"

"There are groups of seven or eight trolls there, and it’s not easy to handle with fewer numbers…"

"The troll camps to the west are decent. I heard someone found over ten of them. We’re planning to check it out this afternoon…"

"The information is public anyway, so let’s discuss and avoid unnecessary competition…"

"There are countless trolls in the Dark Forest, and the two hundred of us can’t possibly take them all down…"

"True, but the gold in hand is the only thing that matters…"

"Haha, don’t just focus on the trolls. The Dark Forest is rich with magical materials and herbs too!"

"True, but those materials are scattered, and you need to meet certain standards to collect them…"

"Isn’t that even better? Slow and steady wins the race. It's a long-term business…"

"I heard that the lord is planning to set up some outposts in the larger resource areas for development…"

"Yeah, I heard that too. You can apply to be stationed there and get 10% of the profits…"

"But only if you’re the discoverer or a qualified adventurer, right?"

"That’s great, isn’t it?"

"This place is amazing. Compared to other territories, it’s like a paradise for adventurers!"

"You said it!"

"..."

Adam Smith overheard these adventurers' conversations, finding them quite intriguing. What interested him even more was that despite earning considerable bounties, these adventurers were not stingy about spending their money here.

He began to understand why the lord had gone to such lengths to build an adventurer’s hall here.

What really excited Adam Smith was the 2,000 bottles of Blood Revitalizing Potions in his storage belt.

Ralph had even promised him that each week, they would be able to supply no less than this amount of Blood Revitalizing Potions.

This meant that the lord, who spent money like water, could earn over 4,000 gold coins each month!

Adam Smith didn’t know how the lord produced so many Blood Revitalizing Potions but guessed it had something to do with the captured trolls.

"Does this mean that the more trolls captured, the higher the potion production will be?"

What Adam Smith didn’t know was that just from yesterday to today, in a span of over ten hours.

The mutated clay golem, Peak, had produced 1,000 bottles of Blood Revitalizing Potions through continuous mass production!

Every two living trolls meant 40 additional bottles of Blood Revitalizing Potions each day, which equated to an extra 10 gold coins daily!

The return on investment could be recouped within ten days!

The rate of return was terrifying!

As Matthew flipped through his spell scrolls, he glanced at the thoughtful Adam Smith, not bothering to engage in cryptic games with him, and said calmly:

"Continue purchasing magical materials, especially Moonlight Flower, Red Amber Leaf, Living Root Grass, and Earth Elemental Crystals!"

"You can keep buying slaves, and don’t stop recruiting peasants. As for the refugees from the south, take as many as you can get."

Matthew had an insatiable demand for population.

Memorizing the list of materials, Adam Smith nodded quickly, sensing the importance of the matter:

"I’ll try to conceal the types and quantities of materials as much as possible and bring back as many seeds as I can."

"As for the peasants, that won’t be a problem. Most cities are happy to reduce the number of people in their slums."

"Most peasants are also eager to start new lives."

"I’ve heard that the unrest in the south is intensifying, and more and more refugees are fleeing northward…"

"No lord wants to take them in, so there shouldn’t be any issues on that front."

Adam Smith had a vague understanding of the southern unrest.

He had heard that it was caused by the conflict between two great arcanists and their factions, which had thrown two provinces with millions of people into chaos.

Even the Seventon Council didn’t seem inclined to intervene.

Matthew knew much more about the situation, having been involved himself and resurrecting multiple times because of it.

He knew this conflict would last for more than a decade and would only grow more intense.

So he had his eye on the millions of refugees.

If he could gather even just a tenth of these unwanted refugees, he could easily assemble a population in the millions!

Attracting population was a foundation, and Matthew wasn’t going to pass up recruiting adventurers either.

"Spread the word in Blood Moon City and other cities to draw in more adventurers!"

The more hands, the better!

"My promotional campaign will be thorough and will lead adventurers directly to us…"

Rubbing his hands in anticipation, Adam Smith put away the illusion spell crystal.

He was already envisioning his return to Blood Moon City, where he would flood the market with Blood Revitalizing Potions and take his trading business to new heights.

Even good wine can go unnoticed in an alley!

As a businessman, he knew the importance of advertising.

Half an hour later.

Enduring the discomfort brought on by spatial teleportation, Adam Smith returned to Blood Moon City.

Once his body recovered, Adam Smith, along with his guards, quickly left the teleportation hall and headed back to his merchant guild’s headquarters.

After ensuring his safety, Adam Smith let out a long breath.

He immediately placed the 2,000 Blood Revitalizing Potions into a magic-sealed box marked with its destination.

With a wide smile, Adam Smith had already decided to wring some extra profits from a few of his business partners.

Meanwhile, wiping the sweat from his forehead, Adam Smith found his assistant and gave him careful instructions:

"Immediately send more personnel to other cities’ adventurers’ guilds, slums, and slave markets. We need to recruit as many people as possible."

His experienced assistant nodded and took the paper from Adam Smith, carefully tucking it into his pocket before rushing out.

After waiting for a moment, Adam Smith turned to his captain of the guard and said:

"Prepare to recruit more guards. The size of our caravans will be increasing, so we must ensure their safety…"

The captain of the guard nodded silently and gestured for two guards to make the necessary arrangements.

Unable to sit still, Adam Smith began planning for the next steps:

"Establish a communication route with the southern provinces and spread word about Bay Village to attract more refugees…"

"Buy food from other cities and nearby villages, and set up more food storage warehouses…"

"Contact the Truth Spell Organization. Bay Village needs more magical materials…"
