Chapter 51: The Beginning of a Legend

Chapter 51: The Beginning of a Legend

In Matthew's memory, Arcanists were broadly divided into four schools of thought.

Elemental School:

They were passionate about controlling and modifying elements, exploring the mysteries of the world's composition, and deeply researching the laws of various elements.

Some preferred summoning elemental beings, exploring elemental realms and worlds.

Summoning water and fire elementals was their specialty.

Most Arcanists in this school aimed to create more powerful, devastating, and wide-ranging elemental spells.

Fireball was the most famous representative of this school!

In his previous life, Matthew specialized in this path.

To combat stronger enemies, he even developed the terrifying spell Elemental Annihilation.

It was this 13th-tier god-level spell that allowed him to drag three deities down with him.

Life School:

They delved into the mysteries of various lifeforms, seeking to understand the secrets of the human body.

They aimed to use their research to gain longer lifespans or stronger bodies.

At the same time, they performed horrifying experiments and modifications.

It is said that the half-orc race originated from one such terrifying life experiment.

Iolem, the chief Grand Arcanist of the Netheril Empire and known as a demigod, was the representative of this school.

Iolem had lived for over 1,200 years, and earlier this year, he created a new 11th-tier legendary spell—Iolem's Longevity.

Each time this spell was successfully cast, it extended the recipient's life by 200 years, and it could be cast repeatedly.

Weave School:

These Arcanists focused on exploring deeper levels of the Weave, researching and developing new spells from it.

They were also dedicated to repairing damaged sections of the Weave, which in turn granted them rewards, knowledge, and spells.

They explored the creation of independent Weaves and had already implemented them on a large scale.

The floating cities and the massive maze locks of the Seven Towers Council were remarkable results of this school's research.

Of course, the elves had explored this path even further.

Karsus was a master of this school, and it was rumored that he was researching a new manifestation of the Weave.

If successful, it could even create a new source of power for Arcanists.

Time and Space School:

Creating pocket dimensions, destroying entire planes—these were feats within this school's reach.

They were fascinated by the structure of space, seeking and developing undiscovered pocket dimensions to harvest resources and territory from them.

More than half of the Netheril Empire's territory existed in other planes, discovered and explored by spatial Arcanists.

Storage belts and other dimensional storage items were products of this school.

Some Arcanists also aspired to master the power of time.

They explored the hidden mysteries of time, attempting to develop time-based spells that humans could control.

Interestingly, prophecy was another product of this school.

Some Arcanists combined the flow of fate with the Weave, attempting to glimpse fragments of the future.

The first two schools were more common, accounting for 90% of all Arcanists.

The last two schools were strange and powerful, and once mastered, these Arcanists became figures that no one dared to provoke lightly.

Naturally, once an Arcanist reached a higher level or became a Grand Arcanist, they would branch out to study and learn across the schools.

Without the benefits of his otherworldly experience and power to accumulate experience, Matthew believed he would have stuck to his old path in the Elemental School.

Given his current start and the advantage of knowing the narrative's direction, there was a high chance he could reach the heights he achieved in the game, and possibly even surpass them.

But now, with the ability to hire subordinates to harvest experience and save vast amounts of training time, Matthew had more options.

"Why choose just one path?"

Silently asking himself this question, Matthew felt a rush of excitement and couldn’t help but smile.

With a thought, Matthew brought up his personal attributes panel, where the Arcane Legacy section showed two "+" symbols.

Each "+" symbol was accompanied by the message:

"Would you like to spend 1,000 experience points + 300 Fate Coins to activate an extraordinary legacy?"

Matthew couldn’t help but feel grateful. Thanks to the Bloodhand Slavers generously contributing a huge amount of experience and Fate Coins, he had the chance to seize this rare opportunity.

Azure light filled the meditation space.

Matthew savored the indescribable changes and the subtle effects of Fate’s influence.

For now, Matthew could only accept these passively, but one day, he vowed to control them actively.

As the light faded, two brand new and magnificent Arcane Legacies appeared, filling Matthew with joy.

Extraordinary Legacy: Flesh - Feat Analysis LV1.

Analyze a target's feat, gather enough information, and through research and analysis, master the ability to activate and learn that feat.

Current level allows for analysis of low-level feats only.

Extraordinary Legacy: Weave - Animate Endowment LV1.

Animate an energy-containing object, granting it consciousness and thought.

Current level allows for animating ordinary objects only.

The data indicated the effects of these two legacies.

In reality, Matthew's thoughts and memories had also been filled with an influx of complex and obscure knowledge.

From this knowledge, Matthew realized the intricate details and power of these two extraordinary legacies.

Animate Endowment needed no explanation.

Like the legends of sages who animated stones and plants, granting them life and sentience.

It was a wondrous and unique ability!

This was also the most important ability for crafting legendary war constructs and legendary golems.

Its value was incredibly high!

However, in the short term, it wouldn’t help Matthew much and would require significant research and development.

Feat Analysis, on the other hand, was a game-changer!

This was an unprecedented divine skill, something Matthew had never heard of any player obtaining before.

With Feat Analysis, Matthew could gain a deep understanding of most feats' formation processes after spending some time and effort.

Simply put, Matthew could enable his soldiers to master additional combat feats in large quantities!

Matthew could also train his professional followers to acquire various feats in combinations, resulting in a large group of elite warriors with exceptionally strong combat capabilities!

This was the beginning of a legend!

Ideas and thoughts flooded his mind as Matthew imagined the wonderful prospect of training an elite force, commanders, or even boss-level characters under his command. He couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Who knows, maybe I can create even more unique professions. After all, many professions can learn other professions' feats..."

"Tomorrow, I can start testing this. Who should be my first test subject?"

In the now pitch-black basement, faintly "sinister" laughter echoed.
