Reborn in the Post-Apocalyptic World: Building Infrastructure

Chapter 81: Escape from Death

"Holy shit!"

Chen Yu cursed and reached out to grab Geng Hao.

But Sheng Hongye had already leaped forward, pulling Geng Hao down.

In that instant, Geng Hao felt an immense force yanking him towards the ground.

Sheng Hongye urgently shouted to the others, "Quick! Get to the rooms inside!"

As they rushed in, the tornado's fury swept in after them.

The mighty power tore open the half-closed iron door, roaring it into the sky.

The bags of grains in the room were lifted up, and Su Ling, who was farther away from the second iron door, realized she couldn't make it inside.

Desperately, she clung to the door frame, but the powerful airflow lifted her off her feet.

"Sister Su Ling!"

Both Wang Pian and Luo Xiaobing were terrified, extending their hands towards Su Ling, hoping she could grab onto them.

Sheng Hongye forcefully kicked the door closed, shouting to everyone, "Stay in the corners, and don't come out!"

Then, he leaped up once again to grab Su Ling.

At the same time, the tornado's force surged into the storage warehouse.

Su Ling instantly propelled into the air, and Sheng Hongye had no choice but to hold Su Ling's waist tightly, his face pressed against her abdomen.

Though the situation was dire, it doesn't mean that the sense of shame would disappear.

Su Ling was deeply perplexed about her situation with Sheng Hongye. Why did they always end up in such awkward positions?

Yet, fate allowed her little time for contemplation. A colossal gust of wind surged in, instantly yanking Su Ling and Sheng Hongye away.

Gasps of shock escaped everyone's lips.

"Brother Sheng?"

"Sister Su Ling?"

At this moment, the two were caught in a whirlwind, akin to withered leaves drifting and sinking within the torrent.

The massive airflow kept tearing at Su Ling's body, and the impact felt like sharp blades, causing her intense pain.

An ear-piercing sound of fabric being torn resonated as Su Ling's sportswear shredded under the fierce wind, leaving numerous scratches on her arms.

Sheng Hongye's T-shirt had already vanished, and the two clung to each other, almost naked.

Feeling the warmth of their bodies pressed together, Su Ling grew even more embarrassed.

However, with her mouth and nose filled with the raging wind, she couldn't breathe or speak. The discomfort in her chest was unbearable, as a tremendous force squeezed her organs, making her feel as though her chest might explode.

If this continued, they would suffocate from the wind, even if they survived the fall.

Su Ling knew that in critical situations like this, she must remain calm.

Ignoring the man holding onto her waist, she held her breath and tried to take in tiny sips of air.

Having a second chance at life was a precious opportunity, and unless absolutely necessary, Su Ling wouldn't give up on survival.

Then, she noticed something strange. Despite the pressure on her chest, the pain in her body seemed to be diminishing.

Struggling to open her eyes, Su Ling was astonished to find that her wounds were visibly healing at a rapid pace.

What on earth is going on?

Su Ling's eyes widened in astonishment, and she took in another deep breath, feeling a sharp, stabbing pain in her chest that made her groan in discomfort.

She had no choice but to hold her breath again.

After what felt like an eternity, the explosive airflow finally diminished significantly. Su Ling tried to move her legs to check if Sheng Hongye was still alive.

However, she felt her body tilt suddenly and she felt weightless as she plummeted towards the ground.

"Ah!"

Su Ling finally managed to make a sound.

Unable to contain herself, she let out a loud cry, attempting to expel the remaining air from her chest.

Then, she tried to twist her body to assess the situation on the ground.

Quickly, she realized it was impossible.

It was impossible to flip over in the air, especially with another person hanging on her.

If she happened to crash onto a brick or landed headfirst...

Su Ling didn't even dare to think about it...

After about a minute, Su Ling caught a glimpse of the ground from the corner of her eye.

Seeing nothing but ruins all around, she couldn't help but feel a chill in her heart. This was it, it's over.

As she was about to become no more than a paper-thin figure after the fall, Sheng Hongye, who had been motionless, suddenly lifted his head. His five fingers clutched Su Ling's waist as he took a deep breath and shot upwards.

Su Ling frowned as the force on her waist made her wince, and she let out a groan of pain. Seizing that momentum, Sheng Hongye swiftly moved to her shoulder and embraced her tightly. With a sudden twist, they plummeted towards the ground.

"Sheng Hongye, are you crazy?" Su Ling exclaimed in shock.

Did Sheng Hongye really believe he could shield her from the impact with the ground? Did he think he was invincible?

Before she could finish her thoughts, they crashed heavily onto the ground.

Despite Su Ling's preparedness, the impact felt like a massive hammer striking her chest. A sweet sensation rose in her throat, and she spat out a mouthful of blood. Darkness engulfed her, and she lost consciousness.

Sheng Hongye lay motionless, showing no signs of life.

The sky had transformed into a bizarre sight, half fiery red and half pitch black, with a rippling middle section resembling silk fabric undulating in the airflow, stretching towards the horizon like a graceful snake.

As time passed, the blood-red color gradually faded, and the sun finally set.

The wind around them subsided gradually. A piece of debris landed on the ground and brushed against Su Ling's toes, and everything finally returned to its original state.

As darkness blanketed the land, Sheng Hongye slowly opened his eyes.

He had gambled on his ability to withstand the pressure after acquiring the super-strong physique from the Zombie King. At least, he was still alive, and it seemed like he had made the right bet.

However, he had underestimated the power of nature.

As he attempted to sit up, a sharp pain shot through his left arm, and he coughed up more blood.

Taking a deep breath, he extended his hand and applied pressure to his slightly deformed left arm. A faint light emanated from his palm, and his fractured arm gradually returned to its original state, even the damaged skin healed perfectly.

The pain eased, and Sheng Hongye quickly checked on Su Ling.

At this moment, the unconscious Su Ling somehow struck a pose.

If not for the filthy and chaotic ruins around her, one might think she was leisurely sunbathing on a beach.

Her hand gracefully stretched above her head, the other on her chest, and her legs slightly bent in a serene manner.

In her unconscious state, Su Ling's features appeared much gentler, resembling a little sister next door.

Unfortunately, this wasn't a beach.

The surrounding environment marred Su Ling's beauty, and the barely covered bikini-like clothing also created quite a significant visual impact on Sheng Hongye.

He hadn't expected the slender Su Ling to have such a curvaceous figure. Gazing at her exquisite body and porcelain-like skin, Sheng Hongye couldn't help but swallow hard. He quickly averted his gaze, propped himself up with one hand, and jumped to his feet.

He found a piece of curtain-like cloth from the rubble, wrapped it around his waist, and used the rest to cover Su Ling.

However, the next moment, he frowned.

The scenery before him was very unfamiliar. It was most likely not Lizhou anymore.
