Reality Breaker: Edge of Reality

Chapter 28 : Crowning the Victors

All the participants stood on the arena, ready for their positions! The crowd muttered among themselves, calculating how they did and what position they should get.

But the strongest of each country talked among themselves. "Jinwoo should get first place. Am I not right?" questioned Wei Jun while closing his eyes, holding a sword like a baby.

"Minseok also tried hard as well," said Anastasia while sitting leg-crossed, looking at the others.

"Taeyang was very impressive. Might as well say. Jinwoo and Taeyang are rivals," said Haruto while keeping his arms folded.

"Haejin was also very impressive with her use of ability," said Anastasia again while looking at the others.

"You are right, but what about Minho?" said Soojin, glancing at the others, waiting for a reply.

"He should get third place," said Arther, with one leg on the other, with a smirk on his face. He glanced at Soojin.

"You are right," said Haruto, nodding his head two times.

"It doesn't matter how much potential you have when you can't unleash it nor have enough power to fight your opponents," said Arther firmly and harshly as he looked at Minho, who had no idea they were talking about him.

"Let's take Cale's suggestion as well then," said Soojin as he turned his head to the top floor of the arena where Cale was sitting, but to his surprise, there was no one there now. "Where—" Soojin was about to inquire about Cale's whereabouts, but then he heard a voice from behind.

"I quite agree with Arther on this one," said Cale as he stood right behind Arther's chair and smirked at him.

Everyone was shocked at how they did not even feel him approaching until he talked. Soojin asked him, "What do you mean?" by raising one eyebrow.

"Like Arther said, 'It doesn't matter how much potential one has.' They can't possibly surpass the strongest," with a mocking smile on his face as he looked at Arther from the corner of his eyes.

Arther looked angry but still looked at him speechless, as if saying that was not his intention. But he knew he had no say in a competition of another country.

"Then how do you suppose the positions should be?" Soojin and Haruto asked in unison.

"Jinwoo has a calculative and calm mind. He is most fit to be a leader and the champion of this competition. As for Taeyang, he is fit to be the main attacker of the team. Like a vice-leader. He deserves second place. As for Minho, he failed to awaken his powers when he needed them. Even though he displayed remarkable swordsmanship, he should be the second attacker in the team. He deserves third place," said Cale with his arms folded and his eyes closed.

Then he continued as everyone listened closely to his fair judgment. "Minseok is a hardworking man who uses every strategy in his arsenal. He is fit to be the strategist. Fourth place. As for Haejin, fifth place. She needs to learn the diversity of magic. She should be back support. As for Kyungsoo, he should be a tanker but also an attacker. Sixth place," said Cale firmly.

"We are not from your country. We are only here as judges. The final decision rests with you," said Wei Jun with his eyes closed. He looked at Cale, followed by everyone nodding.

"Hm! Then that settles it," said Cale while clapping his hands at everyone's approval.

After five minutes, everyone's voices went silent as Cale started walking towards the participants. He walked coldly until he stood at the edge of the arena ring. The announcer shouted loudly, "The Winners have been chosen!!" Everyone nervously waited for the positions.

"First place, JINWOO!" shouted the announcer loudly as the crowd cheered for Jinwoo. As he stepped forward, Cale put a gold medal on him and a black box. As he took it, he went back to his position. He was filled with happiness.

"Second place..." The announcer stopped for a second for suspense and then shouted loudly again, "TAEYANG!!" Everyone shouted again. Taeyang stepped up with a proud expression and a mocking face with a smile. Cale gave him a silver medal and a black box. He also went back to his position.

"Third place..." The announcer once again stopped, then shouted, "MINHO!!" Minho stepped up with a worried expression as he stood face to face with Cale. Cale gave him a bronze medal and, as he did, whispered in his ear, "You did good, Minho." Minho looked at him with a surprised expression. Cale smiled at him. Minho took his black box and smiled, then went back to his position.

The top six most talented ones got their rewards and stepped back, and then Cale disappeared. As the announcer shouted the rest of the positions, the crowd shouted and shouted, but the ones who were truly happy were the 100 who had now become "Fracture Restorers/Creature Hunters."
