Overlord: Ancient One

Chapter 22: Rewards and New Avatar

In the YGGDRASIL, there's a certain space called Administrator Platform. As the name suggests, this Platform is not accessible to any Players unless they're allowed to by the Administrators themselves.

Though this Platform has no definite purpose. In fact, throughout the whole time that the Game has run, the administrator's Platform has only been used twice.

The first time was when a Player utilized the world item that enables him to get in touch with the Administrators directly, and the second time is right now. the World Championship's day.

The World Championship had just ended, and there were a total of Nine Players that were hailed as the winner, or in other terms, the World Champions.

Each World Champion will get two things for winning the Event. The Job Class is called "World Champion", and the World Champion class Item. Both of these will be given by the Administrators themselves, as a symbol of respect to the Gamer.

Additionally, because to the complexity of the tournament's winning values, they will need to see each winner in person because they cannot simply give them away.

And that is where the Administrator Platform comes into play. That is where the Winners of the World Tournament got dragged off right after they won the final round of the World Championship.

🔹🔹🔹

"Yo. It's been a while since we last met like this Max." Arthur said as he saw it was Max—one of the game admins and his friend.

"Yes, it has been a while. I last saw you at the business conference around a year ago, so it has really been a while." Max claimed that despite the informality of his speech, his tone was respectful.

The respect was given to Arthur not only because he is a major shareholder of YGGDRASILL but also because of his behavior when he interacts with the employee.

In the modern world, the majority of business owners, even millionaires, treat their staff like slaves; nevertheless, Arthur treats them with respect and goes so far as to improve their working conditions. The least they can do for him is to show him the bare minimum of respect.

After both of them chatted for a while, Max got down to the main topic.

"There were a lot of reports asking whether you cheated on the game or not." Max said as he continued.

"You know, Arthur, you really made a mess this time. You even added to my burden by forcing me to clean up the mess you left at the World Championship." Max remarked this while staring at Arthur as if he wanted an explanation.

The 'mess' Max talking about is about Arthur participating in the World Championship without his equipment.

Sure, for Arthur it may be a walk in the road but that is not the case for the rest of the players and in YGGDRASILL—a game where it is almost impossible to avoid level gaps without the use of specialized equipment and WCl.

And in the same game, Arthur was able to win the {World Championship}—one of the hardest PVP tournaments in YGGDRASILL, that too without using any equipment.

As a result, it's normal for the gaming community to suspect Arthur of cheating and request that the Admin to investigate.

"For that apologies, I don't deliberately plan to increase the workload for you guys but you know, things don't always go as we plan." From Arthur's tone alone anyone can dictate the regret that he was having—does that regret directed at Max or himself? only Arthur knows this.

"Enough of that; I'm not here to moan. Anyway here is your reward for becoming a World Champion." As Max waved his hand, a large amount of gold and a system message appeared.

{You have received 500 million Gold}

{Congratulations! You obtained the Job Class 'World Champion' }

{Congratulations! You have fulfilled the condition for your Skill {Alternate Ego} by obtaining the Job Class 'World Champion'.}

{Congratulations! You unlocked a new racial class in your {Alternate Ego} skill slot.}

{You can now customize your new avatar.}

.

.

Satisfied with the notification and seeing that another slot has been opened, Arthur closed the system interface and turned to Max, who was looking at him.

"Take out one of your equipment—that you want to turn into a world champion class item." Max said to Arthur.

🔹🔹🔹

The World Champion was a special class granted only to the victor of the official martial tournament. Only a few had managed to obtain the World Champion class of which there were only nine in YGGDRASIL.

As for the prize, the champion was given one piece of special equipment by the administrator. The power of this prized equipment surpassed Divine Class items, rivalling even Guild weapons.

Of course, since it was a reward for the winner of the tournament, only the World Champion could equip it. However, under certain situations, one may put them on by casting a suitable spell or with an item capable of doing the deed.

🔹🔹🔹

Normally, the DEVs are the ones who provide the world champion items and the player can't decide what they want as the winning prizes.

Hearing Max saying that Arthur can choose the item, that he wanted to upgrade—He was curious why Max said that, don't get him wrong, he is happy that Max asked him that but he still likes to know how Max was able to read his intention perfectly—that too in a game, where the character has no facial expressions.

But for now, he has other priorities, that is to choose a piece of equipment for the upgrade.

After thinking for a while he took out one of the weapons —the same weapon that he intended to use in the World championship.

"Are you sure about this—don't you have any other weapon or equipment that can bring out the elegance of a world champion." Max stated.

The weapon that Arthur took out was a giant two-handed battle axe with a horrific demonic face, which showed an expression of pain and agony and the edge of the axe looked like molten metal.

"What is the problem with this—it is one of my best creations— it's attack power and the ability is over the top and it also has a cool name don't you think." Arthur told Max.

"I don't see anything special about its name—Demon Axe Misery—I feel cringe just by hearing its name and it also doesn't have that much accuracy."

"That's probably because you don't have a naming sense, my friend. Even the name you suggested for the game event was pitiful—Black Fog—who even names something like that, even your junior comes up with a better name than you. " Arthur said to Max jokingly, while ignoring the accuracy part.

"Enough with the name stuff, you want this to be the World champion class item, right? Then so be it." Max knows that if he continues to argue with Arthur, they both will not stop today and knowing Arthur he will not take a loss. So Max just agreed to upgrade the axe.

After the upgrade, there was no noticeable change in looks or its previous abilities but there was an increase in attack power and two new abilities were added to the list.

The first ability of the axe was called {Killing Spree}, which is a passive ability, which increases the overall attack power as he kills his enemy, but this ability was not without limitation it had two weaknesses. The first is low accuracy as the attack power increases and the second weakness is that it only increases its attack power axe to a total of 50%.

And the second ability is an active ability called {Avalon of Destruction}. A very useful AOE ability can be activated at every 1000 kill count. From the information listed below, when activated this ability it realizes a destructive wave within about a one-kilometer radius, which can only be avoided by the use of magic.

"From your expression, it appears that you are pleased with the upgrade," Max added. "But, in any case, I'm going to log out; if you have time, call me; we could go out for a few drinks."

"Alright, I will call you then." Arthur responded as the Max Avatar logged out and the Arthur was forcefully kicked out from the Administrator Platform.

🔹🔹🔹

After Arthur was kicked out from the Administrator Platform, he made his way to a quiet place where nobody could disturb him.

Opening his system window, he selected the Avatar option, then he scrolled through the list of available species. Unlike the first time, when he started the game there were no options like Humanoid, Demi-human and Heteromorphic. There is only a limited list consisting of available races from which he can choose.

After searching he came across the species he was looking for.

{Angel}

Arthur selected the angel, as the customization screen appeared before him. In which, the image of his Angel character was shown.

He took his Creator tool out of the inventory and started to edit his character.

In YGGDRASIL, the class and power of the angels are ranked accordingly based on the Christian celestial hierarchy. They are very famous for their use of holy Attributes.

Even though they look like a humanoid, they are actually heteromorphic races.

He examined the finished character after completing his work.

Angels resemble brilliant and winged humanoids, who are stoic and silent, and decorated in shining silver armor as well as religious robes. The silver armor is one of Arthur's creations that has no level limitation to equip. This armor also has the passive ability that increases holy attack.

The common trait that all angles seem to share is the ability to bring a wave of hope and strength to their allies. A perfect race for commander-class jobs. This is also what Arthur was aiming for.

After clicking the {CONFIRM} button, he quickly made his way to a hunting ground to test his Axe ability and to study his new racial class.
