Kiwook thought for a second before replying, “Well, you know what? Even if President Shim knows Hyojun is also a member of The M, I don’t think he would target him anyway. I would be his priority.”

“Why? What are you talking about?”

“There’s always time for jokes.”

Kiwook smiled weakly and left. When he went into his room, Hyunsuk made another call.

Even now, whenever Kiwook closed his eyes, he could remember that day like it was yesterday.

The day he and Hyojun walked into President Shim’s office.

Kiwook remembered being tired that day, both physically and emotionally, just like today. He desperately wanted to forget that day, because it was too hard to relive it over and over again, but he couldn’t.

That day… the day Hyojun and Kiwook ripped up their trainee contract drawn by President Shim.

It was a very sunny day.

Not a cloud was in sight and the sun was shining brightly. The expensive leather sofa in the President’s room was well-worn, proving that many people had sat on it. There was also a marble table and a matching desk, showing President Shim’s flashy taste.

On the other hand, the teacup the Lady was holding was a cheap piece. Kiwook remembered that it had an ugly gold rim.

The Lady was wearing too much strong perfume, which made Kiwook flinch in disgust. The Lady, who had a strange smile on her face, was an ordinary-looking woman.

Red jacket, white skirt, gold and pearl necklace that looked too heavy for her neck, and a pair of extravagant high heels.

The outfit she wore was memorable, yet the Lady still looked ordinary.

Except for her eyes.

Her face was average, but her eyes burned with greed. And when she heard what Kiwook and Hyojun had to say about what the Rodent had done to the company, she exploded in fury and left the room. Kiwook remembered her walking away like a penguin, probably because of her high heels.

The last thing he remembered from that day was seeing the Rodent for the last time after the meeting with the president. The Rodent sneered at Hyojun, “I know why you think you will get away with this. It’s because you think your parents will back you up, right?”

“Idiot. Do you really think your parents don’t know that you are a trainee?”

Hyojun was in shock, so Kiwook said to the Rodent, “Just stop. That’s enough.”

The Rodent turned towards Kiwook and sneered, “Oh, and you… I hear your parents got divorced recently, right? Your mother also came by though… just a while back.”

Kiwook stammered, “M-my mother…?”

“She was a piece of work, your mother. She acted like she was better than everyone, especially the Lady, but you know what? From what I can tell, your mother is just like the Lady.”

“What? You bastard…”

“Oh, you don’t like me talking sh*t about your mom? Are you going to hit me now? Just try and see what happens! Your mother… do you know why she came here? She wanted to know how much money you will make if you debuted. Your own mother wanted to know how much money she would get if you made it big.”

“What…?”

“She abandoned you, but when she realized you could be someone, she must’ve thought she made a mistake. A selfish, shallow woman like that… and you know what? She dated President Shim for a while too. Well, technically, President Shim just used her for a while before throwing her away.”

Hyojun walked towards The Rodent and continued, “We aren’t alone. Kiwook has me, which means he has my family’s support as well. If you do anything to harm Kiwook, I won’t let you off easy. You think you know everything? You think you are so tough? Well, you should know that we are willing to do everything if necessary. We will do anything and everything to you if you ever come after us.”

“Ha! Sounds like you want to hit me! Well, why…”

When Hyojun replied in a low voice, the Rodent flinched. Hyojun sniggered and continued, “Don’t tempt me, you asshole. Just leave.”

“Whatever. I don’t have time for you little boys, but remember… you will regret this one day. I will make sure of it. Like I said, the entertainment industry is very small.”

“Get lost.”

And with that, the Rodent left.

When Hyojun pulled Kiwook to leave the building, Kiwook stopped.

“You go ahead, Hyojun. I will be a minute.”

“What? Where are you going?”

“I need to go talk to President Shim to confirm it. About my mother coming here…”
