Marvel: I can summon heroes from League of Legends

Chapter 40. The God of Thunder or the God of Hammers?

The desert at night was enveloped in a mysterious atmosphere. Tall dunes stood like giant creatures in the darkness, while the twinkling lights of the distant town resembled sparkling jewels.

New Mexico, surrounded by a tropical desert climate, was characterized by hot and dry weather. During the day, temperatures rose to high levels, while at night they dropped sharply.

On a sandy road outside the town, a car was driving west. Inside were Jane and Thor, heading to the meteor crater, 50 miles away from the city.

The car wheels rolled over the sand, creating a rustling sound. Silence reigned around them, broken only by the whistle of the wind and the roar of the engine.

During the drive, they were talking, and Thor began telling Jane stories about the Bifröst Bridge. Jane, listening to his fascinating tales, was driving. Luckily, there were no other cars on this road, or it could have been dangerous.

Throughout the trip, their relationship was developing quickly. Thor began to feel a growing affection for this Earthly woman. Years of war and constant battles had left little time for thinking about feelings. But now, deprived of his divine powers, Thor began to find peace. He looked at Jane's beautiful face while sharing stories and felt the stirrings of something special.

In Thor: The Dark World, their relationship became official, and they became a couple, but in the first movie, they were only beginning to feel an attraction to each other. Thor was eager to return and stop his brother Loki by destroying the Bifröst Bridge. As a result, he couldn't return to Earth, and Jane didn't see him for two years.

Jane continued searching for ways to meet Thor, but their relationship, despite the challenges, developed over time. In this world, things might play out differently, but for now, it was best to enjoy the current moments.

Far from the city's pollution, the sky was filled with stars, and the moonlight illuminated the sandy dunes. Thor and Jane, laughing, headed toward their goal.

Meanwhile, Noah, unaware of Thor's romantic adventures, had met with Coulson and the other agents. Learning that they had confiscated Jane's equipment and research, he chose not to interfere. Once they found out Jane was Thor's girlfriend, S.H.I.E.L.D. would return everything on its own. He joined the agents and returned to the camp.

In the evening, Noah, Coulson, and Barton stood on the platform above Thor's hammer. The sky had darkened, and a light drizzle heightened the cold of the desert night.

"Noah, you said Thor would come for his hammer tonight. Where is he?" Coulson asked.

When Noah had returned to camp, he informed them that Thor would come for his hammer that night. Coulson was puzzled since Noah had previously said he didn't know when exactly Thor would appear. Coulson wanted to contact Nick Fury to sort this out, but Noah stopped him.

Noticing Coulson's confused look, Noah explained that this god was different from their usual expectations and assured him that he would handle the situation. Though skeptical, Coulson agreed to wait.

"Don't worry, he'll show up soon. Look over there," Noah said, spotting a figure in a black cloak stealthily making its way past the fence. It was Thor.

Coulson and Barton glanced in the indicated direction and noticed the figure too. Under the cover of night, Thor, avoiding the camp's lights, was heading toward his hammer. If they hadn't been told it was Thor, they might have thought it was a thief.

"Look here, something's off," a voice came from the surveillance room.

The agents on watch had noticed part of their perimeter had been breached. They immediately reported it to Coulson.

Receiving the report from his subordinates, Coulson glanced at Noah. He wasn't sure how to react to the situation. Why was Thor behaving so strangely? Did he have some odd passion for role-playing? In myths, gods often engaged in such activities. Seeing Coulson's questioning look, Noah advised him to proceed as usual.

Coulson nodded and decided to trust Noah.

He ordered the agents to act normally. Soon, the agents spotted Thor and began engaging him in combat.

The well-trained and prepared agents attacked Thor. But the God of Thunder's millennia of battle experience left them no chance. He quickly dealt with the agents as he continued to approach his hammer.

Thor easily defeated one agent after another. Those who tried to draw weapons were swiftly disarmed. He didn't know what these black devices were, but he understood they were weapons and struck before his enemies could use them.

"Is that really Thor? He looks like an ordinary man," Hawkeye said, observing the situation.

Coulson shared the same thought. If that was Thor, where were his lightning bolts? He turned to Noah again, waiting for an explanation.

"It's because he doesn't have his divine powers right now. He needs to reclaim the hammer to restore them. Right now, he's just a very skilled warrior," Noah explained.

"What?!" Coulson and Barton exclaimed, astonished by what they had just heard.

"Are you saying that Thor needs his hammer to regain his power? And if someone else manages to lift it, they would also gain Thor's powers?" Coulson asked. His mind began racing with ideas: what to do with a weakened Thor, and how to use the hammer for research.

"Don't even think about it. You've already tried to lift the hammer and failed. Only the worthy can lift it. And don't forget, even without Thor's power, his father still wields it," Noah interrupted Coulson's musings.

Coulson, realizing Noah was right, understood that making any rash decisions would be unwise. Thor wasn't just any person—he was the prince of an entire kingdom. Interfering could lead to war.

The rain intensified, turning from a light drizzle into a downpour. Lightning flashed across the sky, as if welcoming Thor's arrival.

Jane, waiting outside for Thor, grew nervous as she watched the camp through the veil of rain. She could barely make out what was happening, and her worry increased. She sent a message to Erik, hoping that if Thor got caught, he could help.

Inside the camp, the fight continued, drawing the attention of Noah, Coulson, and Barton. Thor was battling a large agent, and both fell to the ground. The rain had turned the sand into mud, and now they were both covered in it, looking quite dirty.

After Thor kicked the last strong agent to the ground, he nodded in approval, showing respect for the prolonged fight. Pushing his wet hair back, he gasped for air as he entered the crater where his beloved hammer Mjolnir lay, a smile spreading across his face.

The three observers—Noah, Coulson, and Hawkeye—also saw this scene. Noah pressed a button on his belt and quietly said something to Lissandra. The belt then released nanomaterials, forming a camera in Noah's hand. He began recording the events, piquing the curiosity of his companions, who didn't understand what he was doing.

Thor happily approached Mjolnir and began talking to the hammer, expressing how much he had missed it. Then he gripped the hammer and tried to lift it, but nothing happened, even with both hands and all his strength. He couldn't lift his hammer.

At that moment, the sky rumbled with thunder, and lightning flashed.

Thor, releasing Mjolnir, stared at his hands in confusion, then let out a furious scream, realizing that his father, Odin, had likely rejected him for good. He sank to his knees, allowing the rain to pour down on him, while lightning illuminated his defeated figure.

The three observers above also witnessed this. Coulson and Hawkeye didn't understand what was happening and turned to Noah for answers. Why couldn't Thor lift his hammer? And why did he look so abandoned? Had the hammer rejected him?

"Noah, what's going on? Why can't he lift his hammer?" Coulson asked.

"He's not really the God of Thunder, but the God of Hammers. The hammer has rejected him, so now he's just a man. I'm kidding. You can think of it as a trial his father set up for him," Noah explained.

"So, without the hammer, he's not the God of Thunder? Maybe he really is the God of Hammers, like you said," Hawkeye added, looking at the dejected Thor. Earlier, his combat skills had seemed impressive, but now he looked utterly broken, which only added to the confusion.

"Yeah, it's strange. Anyway, let's head down," Noah said, continuing to film. After taking a few more shots, he put away the camera and, after a few steps, suddenly turned to Coulson.

"By the way, I almost forgot. Coulson, send someone over there to invite Thor's companion here. Ask them to be polite; she and Thor have a good relationship," Noah pointed to where Jane was, suggesting Coulson send someone to bring her inside. The rain was getting heavier, and leaving her outside in it would be impolite.

Coulson nodded, though he was tempted to ask Noah how he knew Thor had a companion, but he decided not to for now. He radioed his agents, instructing them to handle the task and emphasizing the need to be courteous. From Noah's tone, Coulson gathered that Thor's companion was likely more than just a friend.

Descending the stairs, Noah stepped onto the muddy ground. Yet his shoes remained clean, as if something was preventing the mud from sticking. Barton and Coulson didn't follow him, staying behind and watching his progress.

Soon, Noah approached Thor, who was still devastated by his inability to lift the hammer and hadn't noticed who was nearby.

"Thor Odinson, how did it happen that you became so pathetic in just one morning?"

Hearing this, Thor lifted his head. Before him stood a tall man with black hair in a brown coat. His handsome face and unusual aura gave him a certain charisma, but Thor didn't care since he wasn't interested in men.

Sensing strange magical energy, Thor, despite the rain and dim light, couldn't clearly see the face before him. However, the magic felt familiar—it was the same sorcerer who had told him the location of the hammer earlier that day.

Looking at Noah, Thor lowered his head again and gloomily muttered:

"I am no longer the prince of Asgard. I cannot lift Mjolnir and have lost the right to be the God of Thunder. My father has forsaken me."
