I Was Mistaken as the Novel’s Hidden Boss

Chapter 1: I don’t believe I can fly

When I finally came to my senses, I was already falling from 13 km above the ground. I was blitzing into the ground.

"Shit!"

In an instant, my will to live surged. I don't know what happened, but I'll be damned if I die again after that painful experience.

Dying is so fucking painful! I don't know what happened but I'll live!

With that vow, I instinctually stretched my hand in front. What am I doing? I don't know. I'm just following my intuition.

But my mind blanks when I see an entirely different hand from what I used to have.

The hands are covered in black armor, which is more appropriate to call it skin. Because it's a part of my body, not an outer layer. The fingers were long, and it's sharp on the edge. No matter how I look, this is no human hands.

But this feeling of familiarity throws back a memory from my brain. Yes. I know these hands. After all, it's my own design.

"Drunag?"

My precious character.

Just before I proceed to think further, my vision discover the distant land now looks really close. Like, dangerously close.

In realization, I widen my eyes, and put my hands in cross to shield myself from the upcoming impact.

"Fu━"

I forgot I was falling.

*BOOOMMM*

A loud, reverberating noise could be heard in all directions. Dust rising high due to my falling impact. It was definitely a dangerous situation, but miraculously, my body bore no pain.

After knowing I'm fine, I immediately get up. The dust— or rather, sand, still obscuring my vision, but did not hinder my breathing at all.

My mind takes no time to focus on my body again. Once more, I inspect my own arms. Feeling a new sense of amusement despite my overfamiliarity since I use this body for almost ten thousand hours. I look at the back, where my tail wiggles passively. The tail bore a resemblance like a crocodile tail, but with more rugged skin.

I also checked all the other body parts, and they looked and felt the same as my character.

Suddenly, as I was admiring my body, a man's shout could be heard.

"Fire!"

Before I could snap my head to that direction, thunderous sounds rang loudly. And instantly, I was eaten by the barrage of bullets.

*BRRRR*

The sound of a M134 gatling gun rang loudly in my ears, along with other armaments.

As the barrage of bullets tormented my body, my mind felt unusually calm. Because I realize this swarm of bullets cannot leave a dent in my natural armored skin.

So a question arose. Where exactly am I? Is this modern earth? But it's kinda absurd to reincarnate me in my own world. And, what's more, that man is clearly using korean. So, a reincarnation using my game character, in my world, and in my country? No way.

"Commander! The bullets didn't do anything!"

"Tsk! Use missiles! Don't stop your fire! Keep the monster at bay until the hunters come!!"

"Understood!"

It seems my hearing has been enhanced as I could hear them talk among these barrages of bullets… but wait, hunters?

Hmm, ok. That's a clue. So, this world resembles modern earth, the commander shouting hunter, my character from Wisteria Of The Fall... Wait. Wasn't the WOTF theme a fantasy world? I use my character from the game, so isn't it the rule that I fell into the world of the game, instead of korea? I mean, that's how it usually goes, right?

What is this? Am I only getting the body perk? But dude, how can I live with this body! Not to mention I'm a different species altogether, the moment I land, the army pouring their bullets on me!

I should—

*BAAMM*

In the middle of my contemplation, the missile hit me square in the chest. I didn't get any damage, but the explosion sent my body flying backwards, thus cutting my train of thought.

Tsk, annoying. Why are they just straight up blasting anyway? Can't they see me defending all this time? I'm not even countering!

But despite my internal outcry, the missiles deployed again.

This won't do.

Six missiles flying, targeting me. But in my eyes, it's slow. This may be because of my high agility, which enhances everything related to speed. But in that slow world, I raise my hand. Preparing a spell to only counter the missiles.

[Blessing of Surtr]

[Ignis Lance]

In that very short time, I cast two spells. One buff, and one attack spell, a fire spear. I cast six of them. Each floating near me, blazing red, ready to fly wherever I order.

*SWIISSH*

Instantly, my magic collided with those missiles in the air, producing a large explosion which rang loud to all directions.

*BOOOMMM*

But I'm not done casting yet. Using the surprise counter, I immediately cast another spell. An AoE spell. A defensive one.

[Inferno Great Wall]

At once, a fire in a linear line arose from the ground, instantly blocking the line of sight of me and melting any bullet or weaponry that was approaching the fire wall. The wall spans across the beach with a height of 50 meters, so there's no gap to be bypassed.

With this, I earn myself time to think.

Now, where were we? Ah yes, Wisteria. Let me recap. So, my body is my character from Wisteria Of The Fall, and the man who seems like a high ranking military shouting about hunters. Hmm. No matter how, the correlation seems random. It doesn't add up. In the first place, the world of Wisteria was a fantasy world. With heroes, demon king and adventure being the main element. It never touches upon the modern world concept.

So how did I, who is currently in the body of a character from Wisteria, fall into a modern world?

Wait. Maybe I approached this wrong from the beginning. I may bark to the wrong tree.

Okay, forget about Wisteria for a second. Forgot about anything I heard. First, I should retrace my steps from the beginning. Track from the inception.

How did I come here? By falling. Falling means I was on high ground. But from where? There is no such thing as floating land, isn't it?

Cautiously, I looked up. Then and there, my eyes bulged, awestruck by what I saw up there. A red circle, floating without any support pillar. From the ethereal feeling I felt, and my sudden realization, I instantly knew what is that.

A gate.

Red colored.

Now, I don't know what level measurement for red gates is in this world, but suddenly everything makes sense.

Dammit, no wonder they attack as soon as I land! With my current avatar, I totally became a 'monster from the red gate'!

As I was massaging my head after a not-so-pleasant information, I remembered another thing.

Before I die, I download a DLC product from a collaboration between Wisteria and a novel.

I didn't remember the detailed content, as my curiosity never lay there. But, as far as my memory is correct, isn't the world building also based on hunter and gate?

Suddenly, it clicks. Why I'm in my Wisteria character, why I'm in this modern earth, it all makes sense. But to be honest, it's kind of absurd. I am certain that I'm falling into the game, but since it's a DLC product from a collaboration of novels I know nothing about, none of the things I am familiar with—either storyline, npc, place, or hidden items—would make any difference in this world.

"Haaaahhh." I subconsciously sighed.

Am I too greedy? For wanting to reincarnate in the Wisteria world instead of this modern earth? No, at least, can they recognize me as a good monster? Can they at least not fire at sight?

I guess that's a wistful wish.

Since I know what kind of world this is, I understand the reason behind their aggressive stance. But still, from my perspective, it's unfair.

After solving the mystery of my reincarnation, one question pops up replacing the already answered riddle.

What should I do here?
