I Have Decided to Go Look for My Father

Chapter 231: "What is that and why are there so many people over there?" (4)

As it turned out, Gu Xian’s words got him a you-are-over-thinking-this look from Gu Shao and he heard Gu Shao saying to him, “She got that from me.”

Gu Xian, “……” Bragging! This was blatant bragging!

Gu Feng, too, smiled next to them as he looked over at the second display board.

On there were Gu Yanxiao and Gu Chenyi’s names.

Even though neither one of them made it onto the “royal list”, they still did pretty good.

“Gu Yanxiao was #9? Not bad, not bad. Gu Chenyi was #27. That wasn’t too bad either. Haha. He seemed to be good at only specific subjects,” said Gu Feng as he gave Gu Xian a look.

Gu Xian, “……” Don’t think he missed that complacency in his oldest brother’s eyes either!

Nobody had expected that the close-knit three brothers would one day compete on the kids’ front! Was that the lost of morality or humanity?

No, no, no. This was not working. He would have to have a talk with Gu Chenyi’s mom and signed him up to two, no, three after-school programs – literature, history, and political science.

“Let’s go, let’s go. There’s nothing to see here,” said Gu Xian.

The three were about to take off when they happened to run into someone “familiar”.

It was Sun Feiyan, wife of Gu Yaobai.

Gu Yaobai had met Sun FengYan through some channels after he had moved out of the Gu’s.

The Sun family’s business was not big in City B but they had a lot of connections as they had been around for a long time. In the last few years, with the network of the Sun family and the Gu family’s name, Gu Yaobai’s business development went very smoothly.

This Sun Feiyan, however, has a very peculiar personality. When she first went over to the Gu’s, she got into a spiff with Gu Chenyi’s mother. The two women, one was arrogant and mean, the other with a quick temper, got into a huge fight over something. And, ever since then, Sun Feiyan had never set foot at the Gu’s again.

The Sun Feiyan right now was not much different from the one who had stepped foot in the Gu’s with all of her fancy clothes and jewelries back then.

Nevertheless, because of the rumor about Gu Yaobai’s birth, his business hadn’t been going well lately. Consequentially, Su FengYan wasn’t flaring too well either. Even her heavy makeup wasn’t able to cover up her disheveled look.

Sun Feiyan was taken aback a little when she first saw the three bothers. She then quickly pushed her lips out some.

She thought she had done a good job hiding her emotions when, in reality, all three bothers had saw her pushing her lips out.

“What a coincidence,” said Sun Feiyan.

“It is quite a coincidence, isn’t it?” said Gu Feng before asking again, “You are here for Gu XueEr’s parent-teacher conference?”

“Yeah.” After some perfunctory chitchatting, Sun Feiyan finally couldn't help but griped, “Yaobai had been crazy busy lately and had no time at all. It will have to be me who come.”

After a pause, Sun Feiyan said again, “What is going on with Old Mr. Gu? With all these scandals and he still hadn’t spoken up?”

The three Gu brothers knew full well what she meant by scandals; they just didn’t want to engage with her.

Gu Feng took a look at the leadership board and casually said, “How did Xue’Er do this time?”

As soon as the eldest Gu brother had finished saying that, Gu Xian almost busted out laughing.

Even he suspected that Gu Feng did that on purpose.

The way the school had it, the top three of all three grades were displayed on the “Royal List” at the very middle. The remaining ones were posted according to their grades and their scores from highest to lowest.

Gu XueEr was listed toward the end of the junior class and their boys toward the front of sophomore class, which was why they ran into Sun Feiyan where they did.

Sure enough, as soon as Gu Feng had finished saying that, Sun Feiyan’s face dropped immediately.

Her child’s grades were certainly a sore spot of hers.

Gu Yanlin drew enough attention already, but Gu Yanxiao and Gu Chenyi’s grades weren’t bad either.

Gu XueEr’s grades were still above average for her class but nothing to be proud of when compared to the three boys’.

To make matters worse, Gu XueEr’s grades dropped drastically this time and ended up almost at the bottom.

Sun Feiyan felt unreconciled, but she said stubbornly, “She did alright. Grades are not that important to me.

“Our Xue’Er aims to be well-rounded in all areas. One shouldn’t only just focus on the academia, right?”

Sun Feiyan only said that to preserve some of her pride and also to show off her daughter’s other talents.

As it turned out, she hadn’t even finished talking yet when Gu Shao tossed out a “What is the point of picking up all the talents that she doesn’t care about?”

He could not have been more blunt.

Before Sun Feiyan could rebut, Gu Xi had already turned and left with a “Pardon me”.
