I Have Decided to Go Look for My Father

Chapter 215: "Boss, Hu Pei is here to see you." (2)

Suddenly, an assistant of his came running over, “Professor, not good. Dis, dis……”

Before the assistant could finish what he was saying, four or five other individuals entered Liu Dehing’s office behind him.

They were from Discipline Inspection.

“We had received reports that you had stolen scientific research resources and misappropriated national scientific research and education funds without authorization. We need you to come with us for investigation.”

Liu Dehing’s face turned pale abruptly when he heard that. He collapsed onto the chair behind him.

“I did no such thing. There must have been a mistake.” Liu Dehing’s lips were already trembling from fear, but he still refused to admit to it.

His look brought about the contempt from those from the Discipline Inspection. “We are here because we have solid evidence supporting it. Stop wasting our time.”

Liu Dehing was finally taken away.

The assistants remaining behind exchanged looks from behind Liu Dehing. They all saw a hint of fulfilment in each other’s eyes.

Liu Dehing had always been bullying his assistants and students because of his status. His assistants and students, being nobodies, dared not voice their disgruntlement.

Finally someone of higher status had taken actions against him.

All they could say was that it was all karma.

Naturally, Gu Shao had also heard about the newest development with regards to Liu Dehing.

“Degenerates like him should all be gotten rid of!” said Chen Zhiyang emotionally.

His area of work differed slightly from Xu Fei’s. He was more on the school and academic research side and was more in touch with academical matters. As such, he had a stronger resentment toward matters like this.”

Gu Shao gave Chen Zhiyang a casual glance. “If only its that easy.”

Throughout history, something could never be gotten rid of completely. One must only work on being powerful enough.

Xu Fei knocked on the door and entered at this moment in time.

“Boss, Hu Pei is here.”

“Tsk, this Hu Pei sure knows what to do when,” thought Chen Zhiyang to himself.

Gu Shao, “Show him in”

Old Boss Hu was shown into Gu Shao’s office.

Seeing Gu Shao, Old Boss Hu immediately put on a fawning smile.

“I’m sorry to drop by like this again. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” Having said that, Old Boss Hu paused before stating the purpose of his visit. “I am here today to talk about the situation with the competition’s regrading.

“Professor Gu might have learned about it online already, but I thought it’s best if I come and deliver the news to you in person.

“To prevent another mistaken from happening, we had invited even more authoritative experts this time in assisting us in regrading all the projects that had entered into the competition. Per the experts, Gu Xi’s team earned the highest grade fair and square.”

Having said that, Old Boss Hu peeked over at Gu Shao, who had seemingly mellowed out, before he carried on saying, “It was an overlook on our part that we had failed to vet out the projects more cautiously than we did, and we weighted one expert’s opinion heavily. I want to apologize once again for our mistake and not being cautious enough.”

Old Boss Hu wasn’t just apologizing, he was also separating himself from Liu Dehing.

He had specifically avoided inviting Liu Dehing as a judge this time exactly because of conflict of interest. Little did he know that Liu Dehing would go as far as to smear another group simply because his grandson did not take first place.

Had he not run into someone with higher status than him, any other team wouldn’t even have stood a chance against him.

Even more surprisingly, that wasn’t even all there was to it. Even his grandson’s topic was lifted off of someone else’s.

All of the other scandals exposed online about Liu Dehing had further shocked him. He never would have thought that his classmate from back in college would have committed so many immoral acts behind the scenes.

It wasn’t who was behind all these, but it didn’t take anyone super intelligent to figure out that not a single soul besides Gu Shao would have been able to bring down an authority figure such as Liu Dehing so effortlessly.

As much as Old Boss Hu felt bad for his once classmate, but all these years in the workforce had taught him how to gauge the situation. That was the reason why he did not hesitate in making the public statement clarifying and apologizing as necessary as soon as all the scandals about Liu Dehing had been exposed.

He even made a special trip to pay Gu Shao a visit specifically hoping that he would not turn into collateral damage.

“As for the other team, they had been disqualified for cheating and the contestants would be banned from joining this competition for the next 5 years.” Old Boss Hu brought that up.

He did not need to specific which team he was talking about.

By now, Hu Pei only hoped that there would be no more drama surrounding the Youth Innovation Competition that would require them to regrade the subjects for the fifth time.

Having heard that, Gu Shao nodded and said nonchalantly, “It’s fine.”

Old Boss Hu’s finally felt relieved after he heard that.
