I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal

Chapter 44 - 44 Progress

44 Progress

Lian Jing had caused quite a commotion the last time he came to the police station. She did not want her colleagues to gossip about her, so it was better to keep a distance from him, the grand President who drove a Maserati.

“Colleague?” Lian Jing sensed danger and tapped her head unhappily. “Who is it?”

“Sister! You’re finally back. The food is getting cold.”

Right on time, Meng Heng knocked on the window, ignoring Lian Jing, who was also in the car.

!!

Shen Yin shuddered. It was hard to ignored the sensation of pressure around her. She smiled awkwardly and got out of the car. Then, under Lian Jing’s silent gaze, she ran into the police station.

“You heartless girl.” Lian Jing narrowed his eyes. He told himself countless times to be patient and control his temper. He watched her figure disappear before he drove back to the office.

He was going to play the long game and catch a big fish. He viewed Meng Heng’s little tricks with disdain.

“Dr. Shen, you’re finally back. There’s a new development.” Zou Sheng rushed forward excitedly the moment he saw her. “We just visited the missing boy’s house and found something important!”

Shen Yin walked into the Criminal Investigation Unit’s office and was shocked by the mess of information.

The huge rectangular desk was filled with stacks of documents. Zou Sheng picked through them and took out a record for her to see.

“This is what Little Meng found out when he went to Lu Feng’s neighborhood to ask around.”

Zou Sheng winked Meng Heng mischievously, as if fishing for a compliment.

Meng Heng glared at him, then brought the warm food over with a red face. “Sister, eat first.”

“Thank you.”

Shen Yin took the information and perused it carefully. It was detailed record that said that three months ago, the neighbor had heard a woman scream in the middle of the night. Although they were curious, no one dared to go out in the middle of the night to investigate, much less call the police. Soon after that, no one from this family was seen to leave the house for a long time. After that, the neighbors heard that their son had disappeared.

“Also, according to the missing boy’s girlfriend, the boy had a birthmark on his thigh.”

Shen Yin nodded. “It matches the marks on the corpse. To be safe, we should show it to the boy’s parents. If there are no objections, we can confirm the victim’s identity.”

Zou Sheng replied with a smile, “We have to thank Dr. Shen for pointing us in the right direction. Otherwise, we would be running around like headless chickens.”

“It’s my job.”

“Sister.” Meng Heng lowered his head hesitantly. He could sense that Shen Yin’s attitude towards him had become much colder. The possibility of that man being the reason behind her coldness drove him crazy with jealousy.

Shen Yin looked at him quietly, waiting for him to continue.

However, Meng Heng had already shifted his gaze away. He could not hide his forlorn expression. “I have to ask the captain what’s going on. I’ll take my leave first.”

Shen Yin did not probe further. She looked at Zou Sheng thoughtfully. “You said Lu Feng has a girlfriend?”

Zou Sheng nodded. “Yes, she’s quite pretty.”

Shen Yin reminded him, “Do you remember the organs of the deceased that we didn’t find during the autopsy?”

“You mean…” Zou Sheng gasped. Just thinking about a man’s most important part hurt.

Shen Yin nodded. “We can’t rule out the possibility that this was a crime of passion. The murderer threw away all the body parts except that one. Looks like we have to meet his girlfriend.”

Zou Sheng agreed. “I’ll go with you.”

The car soon arrived at the school. After Shen Yin and Zou Sheng showed their police identification, the form teacher quickly called the girl to the office.

The girl raised her head arrogantly and asked bluntly, “Officers, is there anything else you want to talk to me about? Haven’t I told you everything?”

“Sit down, and let’s have a chat.” Shen Yin pointed at the seat opposite her and asked with a smile, “Liang Wei, how long have you been dating Lu Feng?”

Liang Wei sat down nonchalantly. She crossed her legs and replied casually, “More than a month. I can’t remember.”

Shen Yin observed her actions and suddenly asked, “Did your relationship turn sour?”

“What do you mean?” Liang Wei uncrossed her legs unhappily and leaned forward slightly. The corners of her mouth twitched as she glared at her fiercely. “Are you suspecting me?”
