I Became A Starter Beast

Humans really are adaptable.

Oh, right I'm not a human anymore. Still! I consider my spirit a human, and I identify as one!

If anyone tries to say otherwise, I'll cancel them out of social media!

Moving on, after having my fantasy thoroughly crushed, I experienced the four stages of grief. I finally took a step towards the fifth stage, which is acceptance.

What I did was simple. I just sucked the hell out of my mother cat's teats and slept most of the time.

The feeling of not needing to wake up every day in the wee hours of the morning and not be stuck in freaking traffic is the best!

I also don't have to sit in front of a computer until I feel it sucking my soul away! No more unpaid overtime, no more irritating boss, and I can even sleep all day!

This is heaven!

... Or so I thought, but one day my haven was suddenly breached. The Titans in white coats, blue masks and gloves appeared!

They took hold of my poor brothers and sisters; I was included. We were then separated from our mother, brought away to a different place, and before I knew it, I was alone in a cage.

I remembered being so scared at that time. I thought that they'd send me to some sick restaurant and butcher my poor body before adding it to some chicken stock they prepared overnight.

It wasn't until I was placed in my own comfortable space that I finally realized that I'm in another world, not some province in China.

Waaah! This place is so comfortable! I can somehow feel the soft glow of the sun and the cold breeze of the wind, plus there's delicious food being served every time I feel hungry! 

This is true heaven! No, it's greater—a heaven beyond heaven!

I forgot how much time had passed. 

Sometimes I could see people looking at me through the glass; I could feel their gaze appraising my worth. 

It feels much more vivid, probably due to my sensitive cat senses. Not only how they look at me, but I also could hear tidbits of information even though my cage was soundproofed.

From those people, I learned that I'm in a world where beasts and men form bonds, like Po*****, and I'm currently in some kind of petshop.

The thought of being in the possession of someone terrified me for a while. It was not until I heard that I was a rejected kitten that I realized that my chances of being bought were low.

'So that's why my brothers and sisters have different fur than me...'

I was not hurt by that, though; instead, I was so happy that I cried cat tears until some kind of vet checked me.

'But seriously what would happen to me if I don't get sold?'

The thought of that stressed me a little. I even had a nightmare where I was in a large kitchen filled with dangerous wares!

As of now, there's no sign of that happening... Maybe...?

The artificial sunlight turned on and off, people passed me by, and employees gave me my meal on time. .. 

As my days inside this great heaven drift away, the comfort that I once felt starts to dwindle.

An emotion of boredom appeared next to my cat heart.

From the words I heard, outside of this building there is a world of interesting things. 

A thought of venturing into that world emerged from my mind. 

First, it was only a thought: is it really so interesting outside?

Then it appeared in the form of dreams—the green fields or the tall castles. Followed by an unexplainable longing towards the place I didn't even know or see.

Finally, it turned into a conviction: I want to, no, I will go outside!

And like fate or God's will, the moment I built up my resolution to answer that call of adventure, my body suddenly tingled.

I can't explain well in words, but basically, it's my instincts—probably. 

When that young man with mysterious violet eyes appeared in my vision, all the nerves in my body screamed for me to be with him.

No homo or anything, but I felt my instincts telling me to go on adventures with him as it would be anything except boring.

I went closer towards the glass wall and started scratching it to get his attention.

'Hey! Shounen look here! There's a cute cat here! Hey!'

But that little fuck didn't even glance my way! 

I kept banging the glass with my soft paws, but he just passed me by.

It was then that I realized that I was a fucking cat, not a mute. So I tried crying out a meow, but what came out was the sound of someone being choked.

'Shit! Why I didn't practice how to meow like a proper cat!'

Thankfully, I could still see the silhouette of that runt. He hadn't picked any of my neighbors yet. 

'I don't need to meow perfectly, I just need to be loud enough to catch his attention!'

It feels like some god blessed me with luck, as after a couple minutes, he finally stopped walking quite near my enclosure.

”Naa...”

“Nyaaa.”

“Nyyaaruuuh!!!!”

'Look here you runt!!!' 

When I saw him and the cute woman next to him turned to look my way. I stood up in twos with my forelegs against the wall, supporting me.

I then started pointing towards myself, desperately!

'I will be your best companion ever, so come on now and buy me!'

That guy's dead eyes lit up due to my overloaded charm and he immediately went closer towards my cage.

“What's this cat? It looks intelligent.” 

“Um... It's a result of a failure to crossbreed Witch Cat and Sunblaze Lynx—the parents of those shadow cats. However, unlike the weak and fragile black-white cats, he's branded healthy and was rated as Adept by our Beast Care staff.”

Their voices were dampened, but I could still hear them, especially that lady.

'Who said I'm failure? It's just that they are blind to my charm!'

“I want to buy him.”

'Good! Go on, runt! Hurry and buy me!'

“Are you sure? This cat is strange one.”

'Hey you! Even if I wished to cuddle in your bosoms, it doesn't mean I wouldn't curse your whole family if I were to be stuck here for another day!'

“I don't care about how it acts, my sister might even love his antics. So, how much?”

'You even have a sister!? Jackpot! Hurry and buy me!!!'

“Well, I can't help it if your that eager.”

As I looked at the two of them finalizing the deal, my tail couldn't help but wag like a dog.

A Beasts Companion in another world, isn't the thought of that exciting!?
