Chapter 17. Get Used to It

“This boar…”

I gazed at the wild boar and its red eyes, the proof of it being a demon. After my reincarnation, this is my first encounter with a demon.

It looked ferocious than a normal wild boar and its demonic mana was exuding a sort of nauseous aura. And that aura might frighten a normal person but not me.

‘Even it’s a demon, it is still just a boar.’

Being a demon enhances its base specs but it doesn’t change the boar itself. It is just a stronger boar than a normal one.

And that also shows in it being of a “Regular” rank. Its threat level is least out of all demons.

“Grr…”

Finding me, the boar didn't hesitate and rushed towards me with its big tusks. It was fast, but not fast enough to threaten me.

“I can easily deal with him using Overclock, but I am here to train.”

Overclock is an overpowered spell, but it's not invincible. I shouldn’t be too reliant on it. If someone breaks through this spell, how will I deal with them? That’s why I need to attain as much combat experience as possible.

[Reinforcement x1]

Using Reinforcement, I strengthened myself and dodged its tackle at the perfect time. Finding an opening, I brought my sword down on its neck, with the intention of splitting its head from its body in one stroke.

‘Bring all strength to the sword and…’

“Strike!”

And with a clean strike, I slashed aiming it’s neck but the blade stopped in the middle because of its enhanced muscles in the neck.

“Damn it!”

[Reinforcement x2]

And to make sure to kill him in that stroke, I used reinforcement once again and forcefully pushed the blade using raw strength and finally cut through its neck.

“Finally, it’s dead. What a tenacious boar!”

I knelt down to try dismantling it for the first time but…

Spurt!

“This…”

And after that came out the fountain of blood from it and soaked my face with it. And me? I took a step back and ran near the tree and started to vomit out after witness the gruesome innards that came out of the boar because of that forceful cut from me.

“And here I thought I am used to it.”

I cleaned my face and thought of my first kill. It was a right move to not turn back after that kill. It is unbelievable that I killed a human a day before and now I am struggling to kill a boar.

“But to think I couldn’t kill it in one strike.”

I had to use reinforcement twice to slice through its neck. It only shows my lack of experience in real fights.

“I have to refine my current swordsmanship to another level.”

I need to make sure to level up my swordsmanship to such an extent that I could sever a boar in one single strike without any extra magic.

It’s all to strengthen my foundation of swordsmanship. And after that comes the next most important step – to have a powerful magic sword.

The protagonist has the vibration sword. It is a sword that is enchanted to vibrate its blade, making it easier to cut through most things. Even a normal person could slice through a demon boar's neck in one strike with a vibration sword.

It would be a comfort to have it, but I don't want to have the same sword as him.

It’s a matter of pride. I want to have something much better and cooler than his sword. Unlike the protagonist’s ideas, it is possible to make this sword a commercial product but the outcomes of it aren’t in my interests.

“This vibration sword is similar to a gun.”

Unlike replaceable sword, this one is more dangerous. Replaceable swords need trained men to use it, but vibration sword is totally different.

It can be used by anyone, let it be a child or a normal person. As long one can swing a sword, they can use it. And it doesn’t even require training since all it needs is a swing to work its magic.

If I sell it, I can get a lot of capital. But in exchange this sword might become the weapon for the wars, just like a gun.

“And I need a more flexible weapon instead of such rigid sword.”

To tell the truth, I have thought of a weapon from the start. But I haven’t started to make it. A sword that isn’t made up of any metal but is made of mana.

“I want to make a light, no, a mana saber!”

A hilt which can form a blade of condensed mana on it upon activation. And its mana blade can change shape upon my wishes. That’s the sword I want!

But using such a sword will require high magic power and I have to think of solving that problem as well.

“For now, I should continue to hunt a bit more to get accustomed to it.”

I have to start with small steps. I have to complete all problems one by one. Rushing all at once would only ruin it.

And with determination in my eyes, I took my first step. To dismantle the dead boar.

“It seems the first step itself is too hard.”

With a pale face, I took a cheap knife and began cutting its various parts following the instructions of the dismantling manual.

“It’s meat it useless. All left is it’s hide and the big tusks.”

Due to demonification, the meat became unpalatable, but its strengthened hide and tusks had various practical uses. After removing them, I stored these parts in my subspace and went on for my next hunt.Soon enough, after a brief search, I came across another rampaging demonic boar.

“One more kill, and I will get used to it.”

And I jumped in with my sword and went on fighting boars till I got used to it.
