Hey, Why Are My Skills so Weird!?

Chapter 84 – Taboo Love

Hey, guys, Aidka’s here!

I read some comments criticizing the fact that Mary was married. I won’t go into details, but it’s obvious that some of you don’t like it.

Actually, I was expecting this kind of reaction when I wrote it, and I hesitated for a lot of time about if to proceed or to not; but in the end, I followed my initial idea and made Mary a married woman.

My Skills Are Weird is my third novel, and after experiencing writing Fourth Prince and Science/Magic, I like to think that I learned something. Thus, I want to make this novel a better novel than the previous ones; not just a wish fulfillment novel, but a serious story with an intricate plot.

In fact, I have dedicated much more time to planning the plot of this novel than with Fourth Prince. I wrote and rewrote several sketches about the story, and I’m still modifying them when I get a good idea. I want to make this novel a good novel, and I’m working hard for it.

Mary is part of this plot, and the fact that she is married will affect the plot in the future. I don’t want to give spoilers so I won’t say much, but please don’t dislike the novel because you disliked a small part of it, and I will try my best to not disappoint you.

Finally, please be a bit patient. The main plot of My Skills Are Weird has not started yet; it’s just about to start. Up to now, most of the novel was to create a world and introduce the main characters. I still need to introduce a couple of important characters further, but they will appear as the plot starts to develop.

Love you, and please continue following my work, Aidka :p

After that , I returned home.

The first thing that I saw when I opened the door was my sister staring at me coldly.

I stiffened briefly before greeting with a bitter smile.

“Good morning, Ley.”

My little sister did not reply to me. Instead, she moved her eyes through my body, finally resting her gaze on my still moist hair.

Immediately, her gaze became several times colder.

“It looks like you didn’t forget to take a bath before returning, huh.”

I moved my gaze around, unable to meet my sister's eyes.

What is this feeling of guilt?

“Was it a woman?”

“Obviously,” I replied instinctively, only to notice the trap behind her words.

“So it was a woman, huh.” Ley’s cold eyes seemed like they could pierce my body. “My dear brother, your cute little sister waited the entire night to make sure that you were alright, but instead of going back home, you went to sleep with some woman.”

My expression became awkward.

“Sorry.”

“Do you think an apology is enough!?” My sister bellowed. “Do you know how worried I was!? I thought that something had happened to you! At the very least, you should have called if you were going to spend the night outside!”

I nodded apologetically. It’s true that I’m in the wrong.

I completely forgot about calling Ley after I went to Mary's apartment.

Judging from Ley’s exhausted expression, she should have stayed awake the entire night to wait for me, but instead of coming straight back home, I went to have fun with a woman I just met.

Fuck, now I’m feeling really bad.

Sighing, I walked toward Ley and hugged her gently.

“Don’t hug me. I’m angry.” Ley said, but unlike her words, she put her head on my chest and held a corner of my clothes. “… I was worried, brother.”

“Sorry, Ley. it was my fault.”

“Please don’t do it again. If something happens to you, I…”

I put on a downcast expression and hugged Ley tightly.

We stayed like that for a while, but eventually, Ley squirmed in my arms and looked up at my face with a dissatisfied expression.

“You have the smell of that woman.”

I smiled wryly. “Yeah, about that…”

“Karime? No, it’s the smell of another woman. A new girlfriend?”

Are you a dog?

“It’s not a new girlfriend, okay?”

“Then it was a one-night stand, huh.”

My expression became awkward. I should not be talking about this topic with my little sister.

My sister sighed in relief when she saw my expression.

“It’s alright as long as it’s not a new girlfriend.”

“Ley, that…”

“Please don’t say anything, brother. I know.”

I put on a complicated expression before sighing and nodding.

“Okay. Now go to sleep. You did not sleep the entire night.”

“… Can you sleep with me?”

I hesitated briefly, but after considering that it was my fault that Ley did not sleep the entire night, I was unable to refuse her.

Thus, I accompanied my little sister to her room and lay on the bed beside her.

Ley put on a small smile and yawned. She then hugged my arm and closed her eyes.

“… Good night.”

“Sweet dreams”

A few minutes later, her even breathing told me that she had fallen asleep.

I stared at her beautiful features and used my hand to comb her auburn hair before sighing.

“Little fool.”

[Your luck with women is not bad, boy. I guess that being an idiot comes with its perks.]

‘Now is not the time to listen to your nonsense, demon.’

[I don’t understand why you are overthinking it. She has feelings for you, and she is a beauty. Just accept her.]

‘She is my sister.’ I stated coldly.

[Does it matter? Incest is not that unusual throughout the universe. Some species and cultures even encourage it.]

I rolled my eyes.

It’s not so easy.

To be honest, I don’t have any romantic feelings toward Ley. I just see her as my little sister.

Even though I'm aware that Ley doesn’t look at me just like a brother, the fact that she is my sister has always made me think that it’s wrong.

Thus, I can only feign that I don’t notice anything and continue keeping a normal relationship with her.

In fact, there was a time when I tried to keep a distance from Ley to make her feelings toward me fade away, but the result was not good.

I still remember Ley’s tears after that. I don’t want to see her tears again.

Sigh, life sure is complicated.

[It’s people who complicated it, boy. You think that love between siblings is wrong because your culture and society say so. But as I told you, in other cultures, it’s encouraged.]

‘It’s not just society. Children born from the union of close relatives are prone to be born with genetic deficiencies. That is a fact.’

[Really?] The demon sounded surprised. [I see. So something like that happens in this world, huh. But it should be because of this world’s lack of mana. You and your sister have mana, so that is not a problem.]

I was startled.

‘What do you mean, demon?’

[Mana is a kind of energy very suited for life. It fundamentally strengthens and perfectionates life. Children born from parents with mana seldomly have genetic defects.]

Really?

So it’s not a problem if two siblings have children?

I hurriedly shook my head. What am I thinking about?

Let’s stop talking about this topic.

[Yeah, yeah. I can already see your face of regret after someone steals your sister from you. Sigh, when is my host going to learn?]

Shut up, demon.

I rolled my eyes in my mind and decided to think about what happened in the dungeon instead.

I planned to use this dungeon to train, however, due to Andrew, Jessica, and Karime’s presence, I was unable to train as I planned to.

Even so, the various battles in the dungeon helped me to acquire a lot of battle experience.

I also learned of a new way to use [Confidence]. To be honest, I think that is my greatest gain for that dungeon.

Confidence seemed like a shabby skill when I first learned it, but now, I know that it’s full of surprises.

And I have the feeling I’m just touching the tip of the iceberg. I should dedicate more time to training this skill.

Besides that, the demon showed me a new way to use [Lightning Seed] as a reward for defeating the leader of the robbers.

‘I should start practicing it.’ I thought to myself and closed my eyes.

An instant later, I opened my eyes to a completely white world.

But soon, the world was filled with clouds, trees, rivers, grass, and mountains.

It was the world in my mind that I can only enter when I fall asleep.

The Dreamland.
