Falling into the Abyss

Chapter 49: The Omega’s Predicament (II)

“What the hell are you doing?” Although he sounded a bit stupid, this was the only sentence Ethan’s brain could currently think of.

At the moment, the chief security officer’s trousers had disappeared, and his guard uniform was hanging off his arm. Samuel was obviously half-undressed, with his pants undone.

It was apparent that these two people were having sex.

But the question was, wasn’t the chief security officer a Beta? If the scent of the Omega pheromones in the room didn’t belong to Samuel, could it be that they came from him?

Was Samuel not the only one in the Forbidden City using camouflaging inhibitors to disguise his identity?

Ethan’s eyes suddenly widened. Samuels looked at him and yelled, “Quickly close the door!”

Ethan realized that keeping the door open for too long would cause the Omega pheromones to leak into the corridor and spread to the iron door, increasing the risk of being scented by another Alpha. He immediately closed the door, and by the time he turned around, Samuel had already zipped his pants and stood up. However, the guard on the ground didn’t get up, and his eager eyes were still in a slight daze.

Ethan identified the scent of the Alpha camouflaging inhibitor that Samuel had been using under the musky scent of an Omega.

“Uh……I can go out for a few minutes.” Ethan consciously turned to pull the door open, but he was blocked by Samuel, who had just lunged over. “Stop making a ruckus, okay? He begged me for a long time, so I just wanted to help him relieve himself.”

Ethan wanted to say that he wasn’t making a ruckus, but seeing that Samuel had an irritated expression, he felt too embarrassed to say it. He stood awkwardly for a moment before pointing to the chief security officer and asking, “So……he’s like you, an Omega disguised as a Beta?”

Samuel seemed to feel a little embarrassed about the situation and scratched his hair. “His situation is more complicated than mine. Do you know about people whose sub-sex is intersex?”

Ethan, of course, had heard of it. Generally speaking, there were three types of intersex people. The first was gender type, and they had both male and female sexual characteristics. The second was sub-sex type, where they had two sub-sexes attributes at the same time. However, both the gender and sub-sex types had a primary sex, and the secondary sex characteristics were not as prominent or functional. The third hybrid type was much more complex and rarely heard of in the interstellar era, and whether or not it existed was debated.

Ethan then asked, “Is the chief security officer intersex?”

Samuel nodded and explained, “His primary sex is still a Beta, and his Omega organs are not fully developed. From when he was young until he grew up, he has seldom gone into heat. Growing up, it only happened two or three times in total. This time, it happened suddenly. He was on duty and hadn’t made any preparations, so I brought him here first.”

Ethan felt slightly overloaded with information and didn’t know what kind of expression he should wear at this moment. The chief security officer was usually solemn and stern and had a compelling presence. Although he was a Beta, he was even scarier than an Alpha when he stared at someone. Otherwise, he would not be able to suppress the hooligans and thugs in this city. Who would have thought he had an Omega’s characteristics?

“This matter must not spread. The Forbidden City guards and even the entire Earth Union’s military would never allow an Omega to join. Although he is not even half an Omega, as long as the others come to know that he’s intersex, he will get into big trouble, and he may be brought to the court of ethics,” Samuel said solemnly. However, even if he didn’t say it, Ethan also knew the stakes. It was just…… “How did you come to know about this?”

He had heard Cavin mention that Samuel was close to the chief security officer. Still, at that time, he didn’t believe it and thought Cavin was finding faults with the other. But now, it seemed that……it was not a groundless accusation.

“Didn’t you think about giving him some of your inhibitors?”

“If I had extra, wouldn’t I take them out?” Samuel’s current expression appeared like he wanted to gnash his teeth. “My supply has been cut off. Chen Zeng arranged for his people to replace mine in the shopping plaza. What I need is temporarily unable to be sent in. I need to worry about whether I can get them before my next heat.” He spat out a curse word. He seemed to be filled with deep resentment against the cult leader.

He hadn’t heard Samuel mention this before……

Ethan carefully approached the chief security officer. At the moment, his handsome face was covered with sweat. His slightly pursed lips were ruddier than usual, and there were faint red traces, indicating that he had bitten them. Ethan sighed. He clearly preferred Alphas, so why was there always a group of Omegas around him?

Although this one was not a complete Omega……

“He’s somewhat dehydrated. When was the last time you gave him a meal?”

“I tried to give him something when I ended work today, but he wouldn’t eat it.”

Ethan glanced at him, speechless. “You Omegas don’t realize you’re hungry when you’re in heat. You need to feed him a bit of food before he will eat…… Come on, are you really an Omega?”

Samuel pouted and said,  “At that time, my memories will always be unclear, so how would I remember so much? And I haven’t gone into heat for three years……”

Ethan asked Samuel to take out the food he had hidden, some compressed bread and a small box of milk that nonhumans often had. Ethan tore the bread into pieces before soaking it in the milk and asking Samuel to support Schneider’s upper body so he could sit up. Schneider naturally smelled Samuel’s Alpha scent and grunted. Ethan coughed heavily, allowing Schneide to suddenly realize that another person was beside him, and he wanted to straighten up.

Ethan scooped up a spoonful of food and brought it to Schneider’s lips before saying in a very gentle voice, “Come, open your mouth.”

As soon as his lips touched the food, Schneider immediately opened his lips obediently and ate the food on the spoon. However, he seemed to frown at the taste and refused when the second spoonful was delivered to him. Ethan coaxed patiently, “Be obedient, open your mouth. If you don’t eat, then Samuel may leave?”

Who would have thought that Schneider, who had always been calm and mature, would be like a child after he entered his heat? He thought it over seriously but could only open his mouth reluctantly. Samuel looked at Ethan, dumbfounded. “I didn’t expect that you would be such potential wife material…”

Ethan sighed wearily and said, “Do you think I want to be like this…… I’ve learned how to take care of Omegas since I was 17. No matter how strong you Omegas look ordinarily, you’re all just like bear children when it comes to times like this. I always have to remember to feed you water and food while staying vigilant to prevent you Omegas from rushing out when you smell the pheromones of a nearby Alpha. At the same time, I also need to be wary of any Alphas that try to rush in after being dazzled by your hormones……”

Samuel interrupted him, “I didn’t beg you to take care of me the last time……”

“It’s me who cheapened myself to take care of Your Majesty, okay?” Ethan was too lazy to even throw him a glance. He concentrated on feeding Schneider the food on the plate and wiped the milk stains on Schneider’s lips with his sleeve. “What day is he on?”

“The third day.”

Ethan nodded. “The scent is a lot lighter. I estimate that it will end before tomorrow afternoon.”

As though exhausted by the boiling desire in his body, Schneider soon fell into a deep sleep. The other two looked at each other and were silent momentarily. Then, Samuel suddenly noticed the bite mark left behind by Tanisiel. Anger flashed through his eyes, accompanied by a touch of sadness.

“What did he take you away for?” Samuel asked with his gaze lowered.

Ethan didn’t intend to tell Samuel about his temporary soul bond with Tanisiel. His intuition told him that Samuel would go berserk.

At the moment, he wasn’t sure why Samuel disliked him being in a relationship with Tanisiel. Maybe it was because he likes Tanisiel?

Ethan pulled his collar up and tried to cover the bite mark before replying, “He asked me to help with an experiment, and while we were in the middle of it, I was called back.”

“There’s a saying that I know you don’t want to hear, but I have to warn you.” Samuel fiddled with the spoon on the empty plate, making them clang together. “Don’t forget that you are a nonhuman, and he is an alien priest. Why would he take a fancy to you out of so many people? You don’t have money or looks, and you’re not even an Omega.”

Ethan murmured unhappily, “I’m not ugly either.”

“But do you think you are on the same level as him? This kind of Alpha priest is the dream lover of every devotee on their religious planet.”

Ethan grinned and said, “Do you think I’ve never thought about this? However, I thought that since I am a nonhuman, I may live today, but tomorrow holds no guarantees, so what should I be afraid of? As the saying goes, those who are barefoot are not afraid of people who wear shoes. People are only afraid when they have something to lose,” he said with a smile, his eyes curving. “It’s fine even if he uses me, anyway, since I am not the one eating a loss.”

Samuel stared at him for a moment with a strange expression and then threw the spoon onto the plate in frustration. “Do whatever you like. I can’t be bothered about you.”

The atmosphere grew awkward again. At this time, Schneider seemed to be awakened by the sound of the spoon hitting the plate. His first instinct after waking up was to rub against Samuel, who smelled like an Alpha. Ethan blushed before standing up silently and saying, “I’ll stay outside for a while. Weren’t you……trying to comfort him just now. You can continue.”

Samuel didn’t stop him. He just looked at the guard that was rubbing against him as though he had a headache.

Ethan carefully closed the door and stood in the middle of the dark, abandoned underground corridor, deliberating whether he should return to the apartment first. Suddenly, a clear image jumped out in his mind. Although he had sensed it clearly, it came without warning, as though someone else had been stuffed into his head.

The image was of a bathroom mirror in which Tanisiel’s face was reflected. He slightly tilted his lips, and his empty gray eyes seemed to be looking directly at him.

Then, a thought floated into his mind: Good night.

Ethan suddenly understood that this was the soul bond that Tanisiel mentioned!

His heartbeat accelerated as he leaned against the wall to take a deep breath. It felt amazing. Although they were tens of millions of kilometers away from each other, they could stay connected through their consciousnesses. It far exceeded the closeness of being face-to-face with each other.

However, he could only be passive with this bond. After all, as a human, he did not have the strong mental strength of the Eves. If he wanted to transmit some images from his consciousness to Tanisiel, he was afraid Tanisiel could only perceive them when he was actively listening.

However, he still concentrated on his mental strength. He said good night with his consciousness, even though he didn’t know if Tanisiel would hear it.

He calmed down and walked down the corridor, and carefully opened the door. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly noticed a commotion outside the door. Two or three guards arrived, accompanied by a few robot policemen!

He immediately closed the door and rushed back to Samuel and Schneider’s room, turning off the flashlight.

“I’m afraid they’ve started searching for the chief security officer!” Ethan could imagine that after Gray Fur returned, he must have heard that the chief security officer had left a message saying that he was not feeling very well, so he went home to rest for a few days and disappeared. However, his aircraft was still parked in the Forbidden City. He must have thought it was strange and issued a search warrant.

Samuel also cursed loudly, “Fuck!”

There were only a few rotten and old cupboards, tables, chairs, and empty mattresses in the room. Ethan opened a cupboard and quickly scanned inside before saying in a low voice, “Help me get that man in here!”

At this time, some of Schneider’s consciousness seemed to have returned, and he quickly got up with Samuel’s help. Ethan helped him sort out his clothes and had him sit in the cupboard.

“Don’t make any noise no matter what! Do you understand?” Samuel said to the chief security officer in a serious tone.

The current Schneider nodded obediently, just like a child listening to an adult.

Ethan moved the table in front of the door to block it while Samuel closed the cupboard. Then, the pair waited in the darkness.

If they were lucky, the guards wouldn’t perceive the scent, and they would get away with it. Otherwise, he didn’t know what would happen.

Samuel’s heartbeat was as loud as a drumbeat. He had been able to disguise himself as an Alpha for so long in the Forbidden City, mainly because of Schneider’s help. If Schneider’s semi-Omega identity was exposed, he was bound to be sanctioned by the Court of Ethics, and it was likely that the new chief security officer would be the psychopathic Gray Fur……

That was a result that no one wanted to see.
