Danmachi – Infinite Mana System

Chapter 18 – New Grimoires and Riekling

[Chapter Size: 1581 Words.]
Lucius POV
...

...

While Lucius walked through the streets of Orario, he decided to be better prepared before the next dungeon dive. So, he chose to use the points he had accumulated in the past few days to finally purchase new spells. He went to a more secluded and less crowded square, sitting on one of the benches and opening the grimoire shop in the system shortly after.

As he sat in the square, eyes fixed on the system's grimoire shop, a small crowd began to gather around him, watching his unusual actions.

Unknown POV

In the same square.

"HEY, look at that." A merchant said to his customer, who was currently looking at his products in his booth. At a distance of 15 meters, sitting next to the square's fountain, there was a man with a large cloak. However, what was strange for the merchant and his customer was the behavior of the young man they were both looking at the odd one out because even at this distance, they could see that he was looking at nothing, intently touching the air as if he were touching something.

"What the hell!?" Exclaimed the customer, looking at the bizarre scene.

"Why are you so surprised? This is normal for those traumatized ex-adventurers; they get a bit messed up in the head after suffering a lot in the dungeon. Orario is full of them," said a woman who appeared beside, shaking her head as if finding the scene lamentable.

"And who wears that cloak on such a hot day!? It may look pretty and luxurious, but even now in the morning, it's too hot!" Another customer exclaimed appearing next, and everyone nodded in agreement, thinking that the person sitting in the distance is not very normal.

Lucius POV

In the same square.

"HEHEHE, I already know what I'm going to do!" Lucius thought.

Looking at the list, he began to scroll down the spell lines with his finger until he found what he wanted. First, I need to get rid of this infernal heat; he finally found the spell he was looking for in the first options after looking at the rank 2 spells. Giving a big smile to the item he was seeing.

On the other side.

"LOOK! He's smiling like a maniac now!"

"These disturbed adventurers..."

Other people agreed, seeing how the man with a cloak in this heat and smiling alone, while sitting in the square carefree.

Lucius POV

[System: Shop]

[Ice Spell/Freezing/Rank 1: 3,000]

[Do you want to buy this Grimoire? Yes/No]

"YES!"

He said mentally while clicking the YES option. A book appeared in front of him after the space shone.

"Finally!" he exclaimed.

On the other side

"WHAT!"

"!"

"!"

"!"

They saw the book appear in front of that strange man out of nowhere, and the weirdo reading the book right there as soon as it appeared, after a while, not knowing that that man had the full attention of those people seeing him doing such strange things, a small crowd of people began to watch from a distance.

After a while, looking like he got tired of the book, he simply burned it right there and threw it away as it turned to ashes on the ground. No one spoke anything more after that, and they continued to simply watch his strange behavior without knowing what was happening in front of their eyes.

But the amazement started again for those people because suddenly, another book appeared in front of the man.

Lucius POV

After spending 63,000 points, I decided to cool off using the ice spell. Since I didn't need to sing Rank 1 spells to cast freezing, I began applying ice to my clothes to cool off.

"What a good feeling!" I exclaimed mentally, completely satisfied with the refreshing sensation.

On the other side

"Now he's making a perverted face!!"

"Pervert!!"

Lucius POV

Rising with a big excited smile, I was ready to go to the dungeon. However, I noticed a group of people looking at me strangely.

'I don't like how these people are looking at me...' I thought as I assessed their expressions.

"Can I help? Do I look like some animal to you to keep staring?" I said, frowning.

"!!"

"Run, he's a maniac!"

"Call the Ganesha family."

"Who are you calling a maniac!" I shouted, confused by the sudden hostility of the people.

People were already running, and I had no idea what was happening. I shrugged with annoyance and headed towards the Dungeon Hall.

Entering the dungeon, I continuously applied the ice magic in myself, beneath my cloak, feeling a pleasant sensation of freshness, even with the bulky cloak. This improvement in my comfort contributed to my good mood, as in previous journeys, I had suffered from the heat and constant sweating. Next, I headed for the mid-levels.

I walked through the tunnels of the first floor until I encountered some newly appeared goblins. Instead of using magic to eliminate them easily, I decided to deal with them differently.

[- STRENGTH BOOST SPELL!] A blue light shone around my body.

[- SPEED BOOST SPELL!] A green light also shone.

I felt the minimal changes; they were spells that increased my strength, endurance, agility, and dexterity by 10%, lasting 2 minutes. My current stats were as follows:

---Stats---

• Strength: G248 (+25) -> 273
• Endurance: F314 (+31) -> 345
• Dexterity: G255 (+25) -> 280
• Agility: G295 (+29) -> 324
• Magic: SSS1.302

---Abilities---

• Blessing of ?????? (Nullifies Any Mana Cost)

---Spells---

• Fire Spell/Firebolt/Rank 2.
• Ice Spell/Freezing/Rank 1.
• Support Spell/Strength Booster/Rank 2.
• Support Spell/Speed Booster/Rank 2.
• Summoning Spell/Goblin/Rank 2.

The minimal changes still gave a significant boost to my physical abilities. Excited with the results, I ran towards the goblins and began to cut them down easily, taking advantage of the increased strength and speed. Satisfied, I decided to test my new summoning spell.

[- SUMMONING SPELL, GOBLIN!!]

With a circle of white light appearing in front of me, a 70 cm Goblin emerged, holding a spear and a backpack. The small summon looked at me, creating an awkward silence between us as I tried to comprehend the situation.

Unfortunately, the spell only allowed me to summon a single goblin, and I would need to use mana to keep it with me. This meant it could stay indefinitely unless it died. If that happened, I could re-summon it without spending more mana.

While I stared at it, he suddenly noticed some bodies that hadn't disintegrated on the ground. This sometimes happened, and I had to wait until they dropped crystals or cast a spell to finally destroy the body. However, for my new companion, these bodies didn't seem to be just dead monsters. He stopped looking at me and ran to the corpse, making strange sounds, starting to mutilate the other goblin dead by my sword.

"HEEE!" He shouted!

"What the hell is this?"

"What am I seeing?" I was bewildered as I watched the backpack goblin tear off the head of his deceased companion, holding it up like a trophy, and then awkwardly walking towards me to throw the head at my feet... looking at me proudly.

I looked perplexed at that little being.

"I'm trying to understand the logic of being happy with the head of a goblin that was already dead?" I tried to question myself.

"HEEEE!" It seemed to protest my words.

"You're not very bright, are you?" I said, looking at that peculiar creature.

"HEEEEEEE!!" He shouted in his language, whatever that meant.

"Look, let's do this: I kill the monsters, and you can have the stones that fall from the bodies. Can you do that?" I asked calmly, still unsure if this creature would understand me.

"HEEEEEEE!!" It responded, confidently.

"Well, I'll take that as a YES!" I affirmed, and he nodded.

"I'll name you Riekling, okay?" I announced, and he screamed in response. He was as ugly as any other goblin in the dungeon but with the distinct feature of having a huge backpack, almost double his size, similar to what Lili used. I found that quite interesting!

After settling some points, we continued down the path. Instead of relying solely on firebolts, I used my sword to defeat enemies. Fortunately, Riekling proved obedient, collecting the stones on the ground while eliminating monsters along the way.

Thus, a man in a red and white cloak, measuring over 1.80 meters, accompanied by a green creature by his side with 70 centimeters and a giant backpack, ventured deeper into the dungeon. A new pair, destined to be recognized by all of Orario in the future, was born at that moment, with the only witnesses being the walls of the first floor.
