Beasts: Only I Can See the Hidden Evolution Path

Chapter 84: The Boy Carrying the Girl, Running Wild in the Rain!

Chapter 84: The Boy Carrying the Girl, Running Wild in the Rain!

After finishing their late-night snack, Xiao Xingyu casually walked into a beast-taming shop, with the Murong siblings trailing behind him.

The two siblings were completely on different wavelengths. The brother wore a sullen expression, occasionally shooting glares at Xiao Xingyu while muttering complaints. The sister, on the other hand, remained silent, following Xiao Xingyu closely and appearing particularly obedient, like his little wife.

"Liujin, you've really spent a lot."

Half an hour later, Xiao Xingyu's spatial ring was filled with various expensive herbs, amounting to a total expenditure of fifteen million. For Xiao Xingyu, that was an astronomical figure, but for the young lady of the Murong family, it was merely a week's allowance.

"Why are you suddenly buying so many precious herbs? What do you plan to do with them?" Murong Xinxin asked, her curiosity piqued as she rarely spoke up.

Xiao Xingyu was purchasing a large quantity of herbs to concoct Dragon Spirit Pills, which could temporarily enhance spiritual power. However, he couldn't disclose this secret and instead fabricated a lie. "Aside from being a freshman at Azure Dragon Academy, I'm also a specially appointed pharmacist at the Cangtian Guild. With these herbs, I can develop some new potions to help injured beasts recover faster and even enhance their basic attributes."

At this point, an idea struck him. "Liujin, I won’t let you help me for free. I’ll develop potions tailored to the Bone-Winged Bat Beast and the Snow-Feather Demon Hunter to boost their attack and defense."

Even after brewing two Dragon Spirit Pills, Xiao Xingyu would still have some leftovers, which he could use to create potions that enhance beast stats.

Murong Xinxin nodded lightly. "Alright, I'll be looking forward to seeing what kind of powerful potions you can develop."

Murong Yangshuo, unable to hold back any longer, chimed in. "Hey, sis, you used to ignore all male attention, so why are you treating Xiao Xingyu differently? You even spent money on him!"

"You don't plan on supporting him, do you?"

Murong Yangshuo's surprising words made Murong Xinxin roll her eyes, too lazy to engage with her oblivious brother. Xiao Xingyu chuckled to himself, thinking, "Being supported by a wealthy girl like Liujin doesn’t sound too bad..."

As the night deepened, the temperature dropped sharply, and the cold wind cut through the air. Murong Xinxin instinctively pulled her collar tighter.

Xiao Xingyu looked up at the overcast sky. "By the looks of it, there's going to be a heavy rain tonight. We should head back to the hotel quickly."

There were still six days until the final of the Supernova Competition, during which the Azure Dragon Academy representatives would be staying at the hotel.

"Watch out!" Xiao Xingyu quickly caught Murong Xinxin as she stumbled, nearly falling.

Murong Yangshuo grew anxious. "Sis, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Murong Xinxin replied, furrowing her brow and clutching her left ankle.

Noticing something was off, Xiao Xingyu bent down to check. "You twisted your ankle."

Murong Xinxin had tripped and sprained her left ankle. Xiao Xingyu remembered that she had an old injury there, which often flared up. In fact, she had twisted that ankle during the team battle between Azure Dragon Academy and White Tiger Academy, enduring the pain until they secured a glorious victory.

Murong Yangshuo's face was filled with concern. "Sis, you've sprained that left ankle more than twenty times since childhood. After all these years, you’re still so careless!"

"There should be a pharmacy nearby..." Murong Yangshuo looked around and spotted a pharmacy still open at the street corner.

The weather was cold, and the biting wind in Siling City was not just a physical attack but could inflict magical damage as well. Murong Yangshuo couldn't just leave his injured sister waiting in the cold, so he entrusted her to Xiao Xingyu.

"Xingyu, take my sister back to the hotel. I’ll go buy some ointment for her sprain and some safflower oil."

"Brother Yangshuo, don’t worry. I’ll safely get Liujin back to the hotel," Xiao Xingyu assured him.

Murong Yangshuo turned and ran toward the pharmacy, leaving Xiao Xingyu and Murong Xinxin alone together. This showed that despite his constant complaints about Xiao Xingyu, Murong Yangshuo trusted him enough to leave his sister in his care.

The cold wind was biting, and frost had formed on the ground.

"Liujin, the ground is frosty; it's very slippery."

"I know."

"To avoid twisting your ankle again, try not to put weight on your foot."

"If I don’t put my foot down, how will I get back to the hotel?"

"I’ll carry you."

Xiao Xingyu turned his back to Murong Xinxin and crouched down. She stood frozen like a wooden stake, staring at him, her heart racing with unfamiliar feelings.

"Liujin, why are you dawdling? Hurry up and get on!"

Xiao Xingyu's loud voice drew the attention of passersby. In their eyes, the handsome boy and beautiful girl made quite the couple, leading Murong Xinxin to feel shy for the first time in her life.

"No, it’s okay; I can walk by myself."

Murong Xinxin initially intended to tough it out, but the sharp pain in her left ankle made it impossible for her to move.

Xiao Xingyu urged, "Come on, hop on! I’ll carry you!"

If Murong Xinxin didn’t get on, he would remain crouched there, looking rather ridiculous. Unable to withstand the awkwardness, she bent down and climbed onto Xiao Xingyu's back.

"Hold onto my neck."

"Okay..."

Doing as she was told, Murong Xinxin wrapped her arms around Xiao Xingyu’s neck.

Xiao Xingyu stood up, his powerful arms securing Murong Xinxin’s slender and supple legs as he headed toward the hotel.

The cold wind howled, its fierce gusts biting at the skin of pedestrians like hungry wolves from the snowfields.

Murong Xinxin, resting on Xiao Xingyu's back, could clearly feel his body heat and the distinct scent of his masculinity.

"Xiao Xingyu."

"Yeah?"

"There are too many people on the road, and they’re all staring at us. Let me down."

Any passerby who saw them would likely assume they were a loving couple.

"Is it raining?"

"Looks like it."

Raindrops began to fall on Murong Xinxin’s head, dampening a strand of her white hair.

"Damn, it’s really coming down!"

A sudden downpour engulfed the city, sending pedestrians scrambling for cover.

Xiao Xingyu quickened his pace, sprinting through the heavy rain with Murong Xinxin on his back.

"Xiao Xingyu, are you a ostrich? Why are you running so fast?"

"Of course! If we don’t hurry, we’ll both be drenched!"

Amidst the murky rain curtain and under the dim streetlights, the boy carried the girl as they ran wildly.

The girl raised her hand to shield the boy from the chaotic raindrops.

This scene would become a beautiful memory in the future.

Twenty minutes later.

Xiao Xingyu carried Murong Xinxin back to the hotel.

Murong Xinxin sat on the edge of the bed, her head bowed, lost in thought.

Xiao Xingyu entered the bathroom and grabbed a clean towel.

"Thank you, I can manage."

"Don’t be polite with me; I’ll help you!"

Xiao Xingyu was warm-hearted, taking the towel and gently rubbing it over Murong Xinxin’s head to dry her hair.

"Liujin, your clothes are wet; take them off. Let me help you change."

"I can change myself."

"It’s fine; my sister taught me that being helpful is a noble virtue."

If this continued, by the time Murong Yangshuo returned with the medicine, he might really have gained a brother-in-law.
