Awakened Earth!!

chapter 81: Marvel Universe

I began to feel a familiar pulling force and immediately started suppressing my power. I then telepathically informed Rimuru that we were being kicked out of this universe. A cosmic being seemed intent on hurling us across the multiverse. However, I headed down to the dungeon and declared, "This is our last chance for a rematch, Zegion. I'm coming for you!" The fight helped me get the hang of my new ultimate skill.

For example, I could use the subskill Fusion to merge my flames with lightning magic, creating rainbow lightning. It was ridiculously powerful. Of course, if it weren’t for the fact that I had gained control over my flames and could freely decide what they burned, I wouldn’t be able to combine the magics, let alone fuse them. Previously, whenever I tried to combine anything with my rainbow flames, they would incinerate it. However, now I can perform some pretty devastating combined magic with my Fusion subskill.

Anyway, since I used my full power during the last fight—well, almost full power because the fight was interrupted just when it was getting good—I started glowing and disappeared. I didn’t see Sophie or Alex at first, but then suddenly, both Sophie and Alex appeared. They must have been in Sophie’s realm. Which universe would we end up in this time?

I snapped my fingers and changed into the red kimono with rainbow feathers. I hadn’t worn it yet because I was afraid of ruining it if I had to use my unique skill.

I wouldn’t have time to change out of my outfit, even using magic, if I were forced into a situation where I had no choice but to use my unique skill. So, I wore my casual clothes, but with greater control over my flames, I can now wear my kimonos. The best part is that I can now use my rainbow flames without needing to transform in the first place, eliminating the weakness of the brief moment it took for the transformation to complete.

It’s a shame about the demon rice, though. Although all the food in Tempest was great, the demon rice was truly unique. Most of the foods were just replicated from Earth, and we could get them on any other Earth. After all, Earths are a dime a dozen in the multiverse. Sophie smiled and said she had a massive stash of demon rice and even picked up a few demon rice plants, but she gave up trying to grow them after killing the first couple. However, since they're stored in the storage room where time is frozen, we don't have to worry about them dying. The best part is that the storage has unlimited space, which also keeps the rest of the mansion from getting messy.

I suggested that we get some maids soon since the mansion's enchantments were all focused on defense, leaving no room for cleaning or maintenance enchantments. Sophie responded, "Well, maybe we’ll end up in a universe where we can get some maid robots or perhaps even golems."

Alex then asked, "Did you make me a functional golem body?" Making the bodies is the easy part, but creating a fully functional golem is very different, Alex. Since you possessed that one, I kind of cheated. Besides, your current body isn’t a golem body. You physically incarnated and just used the physical materials to create your body, which naturally evolved to the level of a true demon lord—though on the weaker side of one, but still a pretty big powerhouse. Honestly, the Rimuru in the anime was totally nerfed.

After a few hours of traveling through the Void, we arrived on an Earth. I used the ring and instantly arrived in Sophie’s Realm. There’s no longer a portal, so Sophie looked at me and gave me a wink. I thought, I see, so the ring's performance has also increased along with Sophie’s skill. Makes sense, although Sophie used my original storage ring as the base, her skill modified it into a key for the realm. Naturally, I’m just teleporting stuff in and out of the realm, which is one of the functions that allows me to use it like a storage ring. However, the realm can be accessed easily from anywhere—not the case for pocket dimensions, which are easy to access within the same universe but difficult to access from outside of it. After all, pocket dimensions are essentially rooms created within the spatial layers.

Now that we were in the realm, I carefully monitored which universe we had ended up in. It was obviously one of the Earths, but there are too many goddamned ones in the multiverse to figure out which one it was right away. I used Clairvoyance to search. Oh, it’s one of the Marvel Earths. This one’s more likely to be the comic book version. It’s definitely not the MCU. I suppose it could also be one of the animated versions, but it has every single character in it, so it’s one of the more chaotic ones.

Clairvoyance only allows one to see the present; I can’t look at the past or the future. Despite being so good at spatial magic, Sophie can’t use Clairvoyance as well as I can. She could use it to observe everything on Earth, and maybe everything in the solar system, but I could use it to observe anything within the galaxy, showing the difference in range. Naturally, Rimuru copied this ability and integrated it into a little spy satellite.

Suddenly, a portal opened up into the realm, putting us on alert. After all, there are many terrifying monsters in the Marvel universe. Honestly, you’d think the ability to move around when time was stopped was common, just because of how many people could do it in the Marvel universe. But you’ve got to remember, only the top powerhouses in the time I got recarnated as a slime could do it. Even most of the demon lords were unable to. Though in the anime, it might have seemed more common, the number of people who could move around when time was stopped could be counted on one hand—maybe two. It’s pretty obvious that it wasn’t a common ability.
