Are You Crazy? You’re Telling Me This Is a Fugitive TV Show?

Chapter 47 Beatboxing Gunshots, Screams, Terrified Voices, Success

The chairman of the Lingzhu Group was speaking from the stage. Slowly, he lifted the red cloth covering the box, revealing a necklace that was as radiant as it was dreamlike.

Each diamond on the necklace sparkled, capturing the splendor of a starry night sky.

Hmmm!

However, at that moment, the chairman sensed the light dimming behind him. He turned to see that the curtains were closing automatically.

The event staff noticed the change as well and immediately started moving toward the light switch.

Wang Yun surveyed the room, a slight smile forming on his face. He walked directly toward the light switch for the hall. Upon reaching it, he turned off the remaining lights and sabotaged the switch.

“What’s happening? Is there a problem with the lights and curtains?”

“I’m not sure, could be an electrical issue.”

“Everyone, please remain calm. Staff, could you look into this?” the chairman quickly addressed the confused murmurs from the guests.

“Whoa, is Big Brother about to make his move?”

“What’s he planning? The program officers will be here in just three to four minutes.”

“Big Brother’s taking action, can he pull it off?”

In the livestream, everyone watching was visibly astonished by Wang Yun’s actions.

Wang Yun watched as the lights continued to dim. Once the electric curtains fully closed, the banquet hall was plunged into complete darkness. A testament to the high-quality sealing of the room.

Wang Yun then took a step onto a nearby chair, pulled out a lighter with a piece of paper, and with a flick, ignited it.

In an instant, the smoke rose and fire alarm systems activated, filling the hall with urgent beeping.

The next moment, the sound of doors being burst open reverberated, followed by a series of thunderous bangs.

“Ahhh!”

Gunshots erupted, accompanied by piercing screams.

“Everyone, get down now!”

“Get down, all of you!”

“Ah! Help me, it hurts!”

In an instant, chaos reigned. A cacophony of gunshots, screams, and pleas for mercy filled the air, along with the sounds of tables being overturned and wine bottles shattering.

The smoke alarm’s incessant beeping only intensified the disarray, as water began spraying from the pipes, drenching the entire banquet hall. Faces drained of color as everyone in the hall reacted to the shocking turn of events. Terrified, they hurriedly lay flat on the ground, some trembling uncontrollably.

The surrounding screams only heightened their fear.

“We’re only here for the money. Get down or face the consequences.”

More cold, brutal sounds resounded, this time accompanied by the clattering of tables and chairs.

Amidst the darkness and pandemonium, terror gripped everyone in the banquet hall.

On the stage, the chairman of the Lingzhu Group went pale at the unfolding chaos. His first instinct was to reach for the Dazzling Starry Sky necklace next to him.

“If you don’t want to die, get down.”

With a low growl, he was horrified to discover a red dot appearing on his body. He heard footsteps approaching from all directions.

“No, please don’t kill me!”

He dropped to the ground, his face ghostly pale.

It was all too realistic.

In truth, the chairman of the Lingzhu Group had received a call from the Skynet Operation’s production team about ten minutes earlier. They had informed him in advance that someone would target their group’s prized necklace and sought his approval. Without any hesitation, he had agreed.

He assured them of his full cooperation with the show.

Furthermore, he stated that if the production team took the necklace, all they’d have to do in return was to promote the Lingzhu Group and the necklace would be their gift.

He had organized this banquet primarily to boost attention and promote Lingzhu Group’s line of jewelry. What could be better than having the Skynet Operation program help with that?

However, what he hadn’t anticipated was how unnervingly realistic and terrifying the experience would be, to the point where he was caught off guard.

Wang Yun, donning night-vision goggles, kept making various sounds with his mouth, showing off an impressive level of beatboxing. He swiftly moved to the stage, seized the Dazzling Starry Sky necklace, and slipped it into his pocket.

“Go, go!”

“Big brother, get out of here now!”

“We’ve got it, hurry!”

A flurry of frenzied and urgent voices echoed around the hall, punctuated by gunshots and the sound of doors being busted open.

The chaos that engulfed the banquet hall finally started to subside. Aside from the noise of the smoke alarms and trickling water, all that could be heard were quick, nervous breaths. Then, voices began to rise again.

“They seem to be gone, those criminals look like they’ve left!”

“Someone’s been shot, call the police, now!”

“Get an ambulance, quickly!”

“Let’s make a move, get out, now!”

At that moment, the entrance door swung open, pushed by the four young security guards. “What’s happened here, what’s going on?”

At this moment, the faces of the four young men were ashen, filled with a mix of dread and panic. Moments ago, the banquet hall had erupted in a cacophony of deafening gunshots, anguished screams, and crashing noises. The thought of entering the hall never crossed their minds.

‘Are you kidding? With screams and gunshots like those, who would dare step in? For a mere monthly salary of 10,000 yuan, you expect me to risk my life? Not a chance.’

“Hurry, get out, now!”

“Is my wife alright? Let’s go, quickly.”

Panic-stricken voices filled the air as the crowd bolted toward the exits.

“Everybody, please remain calm. This is all part of a TV show. There’s no need to panic,” announced the chairman of Lingzhu Group loudly.

His words fell largely on deaf ears. A flicker of irritation crossed his face, his mouth twitching at the corners.

Wang Yun blended in with the fleeing crowd and made his way out of the banquet hall. Though soaked from head to toe, a subtle smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He popped a piece of chewing gum into his mouth and chewed it a few times as he moved along.

Approaching a surveillance camera, he smiled and then proceeded to jam it with the chewed gum. He then shook the water droplets off his clothing and headed toward the emergency stairwell.

Upon reaching the stairs, he found the gifts he’d left there earlier. Picking them up, Wang Yun didn’t proceed downward, instead, he climbed toward the rooftop.

The rooftop of Nansu Plaza Tower had once served as a landing pad for private helicopters but was now deserted. Still, one could access it.

Standing atop the 450-meter-tall structure, Wang Yun pulled the Dazzling Starry Sky necklace from his pocket and grinned.

He had succeeded.
